I certainly never considered "No Man's Land" to be a top 10 contender going into this, so I'm quite surprised to see that it garnered quite a bit of support. On the other hand, I'm happy to see "Home to You" make it in as this is one of his more underrated hits I think.

Just needed to include this TRAVESTY on the new page... By far my favorite JMM song and one of my favorite songs of all time, I love story songs and I don't even care that if this one has a religious tone. Alison Krauss gives us her beautiful background vocals she also contributed to another dark gloomy song, Whiskey Lullaby. 9 of us ranked this in our top ten, but 4 non believers tanked it, making it the MOST POLARIZING SONG OF THE RANKDOWN. Austin and Jordan got perfect rankings! đđ Myself and TasteKingâą toomuchboy lose our #1's

Wow, I thought "The Little Girl" was top 5 bound for sure. Crazy to see all of us who put this in their top 10 and to have nothing in between that and the top 20. And what gives with the bottom 3 someguy?!

Both are beautiful tunes! Wish they made it to the top 5, but at this point, all the remaining songs are quite strong, so I guess it was about the time. I'm ready to say goodbye to my #29 though.
- The top 2 has to be Sold and Life's A Dance, with Life's A Dance winning this RD. - Be My Baby Tonight and I Can Love You Like That should be the two songs to miss the top 5.

We lose another of JMM's #1's next with I Swear, which became even more massive when R&B group Boys II Men All 4 One covered it the following year. I'm gonna sound like a broken record with this top ten, but another song that is such a classic! LBTrocks gets another perfect ranking!

Friends just barely misses the top 5, taking kw9461 's #1 with it. I'm glad it got this far! I consider it the 'classic' of the "What I Do Best" album so I'm glad it was the last song standing from it. KanenrĂĄ:ke got another perfect ranking and so did... LBTrocks ! =o

Starting out with our first top five loss is his last major hit, Letters From Home. I remember this song just coming out of nowhere. Suddenly it was all over the radio, a stellar looking video filmed and debuted in a matter of weeks. This is such a good song to go down as his last big hit. <3 Jordan has lost his #1

I was actually deployed overseas in Iraq and Kuwait during the period of time that âLetters From Homeâ was released. It meant a lot to me then and still does to this day.

This top 3 isnât actually all that surprising given they are three of his least polarizing hit songs. Iâm still expecting âLifeâs a Danceâ to come out on top, but at this point anything is possible of course lol. I will guess though that âBe My Baby Tonightâ seems most likely to bow out before the top 2.

I figured the "Concrete Angel" effect would make "The Little Girl" a top 5 contender at minimum, and maybe even a dark horse contender to win! (If you haven't heard of that, it's basically the fact that Pulse LOVES hearing about child abuse in song form. But I guess that only works coming from female vocalists đ )
In all seriousness, "The Little Girl", "Concrete Angel", and "Alyssa Lies" are the perfect trio of child abuse awareness anthems, and I happen to think that each one brings a refreshing and unique spin to the theme that makes them all equally heartbreaking in their own way. The religious theme of JMM's song took my breath away the first time I heard it, because I was honestly not expecting the song to go that direction, but it was really well written! After the girl found happiness in the second verse, I kinda expected the song to end I guess. The verse about Jesus helping her survive the abuse is just an unexpected twist, and I could see that direction turning some people off, but frankly I found it to give the song an emotional wallop that it was otherwise lacking. Children experience the world differently from adults, and it is not at all unusual to hear about them seeing angels and things, so for some reason the little girl being comforted by Jesus just felt so devastatingly wholesome to me when it would have otherwise been cheesy happening to an adult.
