I figured the "Concrete Angel" effect would make "The Little Girl" a top 5 contender at minimum, and maybe even a dark horse contender to win! (If you haven't heard of that, it's basically the fact that Pulse LOVES hearing about child abuse in song form. But I guess that only works coming from female vocalists 😂 )I literally had this same thought earlier today, but I didn’t want to say it lol.

Anyway, I know I been flopping lately. It seems like this whole month, the amount of time it takes me to get motivated to do Pulse things could be measured in DAYS rather than hours, lmao.

Just missing the top 2 is Be My Baby Tonight! Actually it didn't just miss it, the top two ran away with this by over 60 points ahead of BMBT! LBTrocks loses his #1 and we get THREE perfect rankings by KW, Castle, and Cody! 🌺CLD, we have know the backstory why you randomly hate this song so much. 😂

We’re just giving you a hard time. If it meant Pulse things vs. getting your master’s degree, well you chose right

I mentioned in my predictions that "Home To You" was my favorite rediscovery, so I am really happy to see it make the top 10! It is just such a great song, even if it is one of his more forgotten big hits!
"No Man's Land" was a discovery for me here, and I really fell in love with it!! I also would not have necessarily expected it to be a top 10 contender, but I am so glad it was!
"I Swear", "I Can Love You Like That", and "I Love The Way You Love Me" all deserved the top 5, but we been knew that they all have tankers. At least one of them was able to make it as high as #4!
"Letters From Home" is an amazing song, which was a hit right about the time I was getting into CMT and country radio......and it is accordingly one that was completely killed by overplay for me :( Seriously, this was on CMT ALL.THE.TIME back then, and it's kinda one of those once-a-day types of songs rather than three-times-an-hour... Still, after taking several years off from it, I really enjoyed revisiting it for this rankdown! Figured it would be a top 5 contender due to the relative recency of its release on top of its status as a hit, similar to "Paint Me A Birmingham" by Tracy Lawrence.

Life's A Dance vs SOLD (The Grundy County Auction Incident)!!! Are y'all ready for a shocker?? With these two songs left, there is literally no situation in which the conclusion of this rankdown comes with a shock 😂 Like, even if they're tied it would still seem just about right.

I have always loved "Be My Baby Tonight", but for some reason it fell really flat for me upon revisiting for this Rankdown. It was like the production just sounded lifeless or something compared to what I remembered. Idk what it is. But that's why it fell out of my own top 10. I can't even begin to imagine a scenario where a #29 rank is justified though! At least it wouldn't have changed things anyway.

After all other 34 songs got tanked, sliced, diced, forgotten, Life's A Dance and Sold rose to the top, beating third place by over 60 points, each only getting 41 points!
We could go with most #1's (Sold) or Lowest SD (Life's A Dance) for a winner, but with them running so hard ahead of the pack and ending with the same total, I think it's only appropriate that it's a TIE! They truly are the two winners!
Thanks everyone who participated, 13 participants was honestly more than I had hoped for. I hope yall had some fun and discovered some good JMM songs!

3. Be My Baby Tonight
🌺CLD, we have know the backstory why you randomly hate this song so much. 😂 Haha, I don't hate this song, I might hate the bottom five in this list, but I found JMM's materials to be mostly pleasant. Still, I found this song to be a bit overrated, like compared with his other songs. Also, I enjoyed JMM's deliver more with ballad songs than uptempo songs in general, with the exception of Sold. I get that this song has a catchiness, but I never got into that repetition of "Wouldya couldya ain'tya" in the chorus. I don't have to feel bad this time though, as even if I had given #1 to this song, this would have been #3 And stoked to see both Sold and Life's A Dance getting #1, as they are just pure masterpieces. That speedy chorus of Sold is just super satisfying, I love Nothin' To Lose by Josh Gracin for the same reason. Thanks for hosting ClevelandRox, and looking forward to the next series! (I see Thomas Rhett and OD in your queue in the RD thread, so can't wait for those as well!)

Just catching up on this. that i was the lowest ranker for "Life's a Dance" at #6. And I absolutely adore that song, even if it's been badly overplayed over the years. Fitting conclusion though, since both songs were such runaway winners with a rare zero tankers.

Wow, I thought "The Little Girl" was top 5 bound for sure. Crazy to see all of us who put this in their top 10 and to have nothing in between that and the top 20. And what gives with the bottom 3 someguy?! Sorry guys! This song has always been a hard, hard pass for me. Right from the opening the lyrics, the child has a deprived upbringing because her parents aren't religious and don't take her to church. That is extremely off-putting, and it just continues from there. Some songs that tackle domestic violence do it well, like "Concrete Angel", "Independence Day", "The Stairs", etc. This one just hits you over the head with it from the beginning. Then, of course, since the parents don't go to church, they drink all day and do drugs. I've always found this one really cringe-worthy.
