Maybe she is thinking about the album as more of a concept album in which case the song is more an appendix to a larger and more coherent album than a chance to stream troll. (I say this recognizing, of course, that Doja Cat does appear to appreciate other forms of trolling.)

And placing KMM as the final track is just a bizarre decision as it won't help that song to reach new peak on charts. I don't know about this. thank u, next had the title track and "7 rings" far down in the track list, along with the third single as the closer, and they were No. 1, 2 & 3 on the Hot 100. we know that for album cuts, the earlier they appear on the tracklist, the better they perform on the Hot 100. but I'm not sure how much the tracklist order matters for the hit singles. "Kiss Me More" is very much likely to hit a new peak on the charts in 2 weeks regardless of the order, I think.

None of the artists I stan have used a dead man's name for clout. f**k Maroon 5 doing so. Ok, but I'm wondering if the tracks, both the juice wrld and nipsey ones, were completed before they passed, or if their vocals were somehow added after, because this would make a HUGE difference to me at least, being far less palatable if the latter were the case. After all artists die however, they obviously cannot give permission to have their music released, whether it's solo or collab or whatever form, so your outrage would have to be equally shared across all parties wishing to "cash in" or gain "clout." That's definitely something important to take into account, especially for Juice's collaboration. If that happens to be the case, I hope Adam or the band's PR team confirms so, because so far it's been a bad look for them. Some might say Juice wouldn't work with Maroon 5, but he did features for Halsey and Ellie Goulding, and songs like "Cold" have a similar atmosphere to "Without Me" and "Hate Me" (it also happens to be one of the better Maroon 5 songs post-V). Nipsey Hussle's feature, on the other hand, is most likely distasteful graverobbery, as he died in March 2019 whereas "Memories" came out in September 2019, and he didn't seem like someone who would work with a radio-friendly pop band in attempt to crossover.

not that itunes means much these days, but some contestant from AGT has her song at #2 right now. it's decent. It's so good! Her audition made me cry. 😭 Her lead to the #1 song (Tom Macdonald's Snowflakes) is getting closer. Get that #1 Nightbirde!

As Maroon 5 has never really put out music that this site liked - the dead people featurings being an issue is not really a surprise
Many though have done it
Here is an example of artist that more people here like:

It's bad when any artist does it. It's bad when Drake did it, it's bad when Justin Timberlake did it, and it's bad when Maroon 5 will do it

Graverobbery is a distasteful and vile practice regardless of the artist involved. "Don't Matter To Me" was met with strong backlash too. It's just wrong for an artist to take advantage of someone's death for clout, especially through unreleased songs on a collaboration that likely wouldn't have happened in real life. (for instance, Michael would never work with Timberlake after his poor handling of nipplegate).

But yet....a posthumous album was released where Justin Timberlake was the featuring - so in this case the MJ estate invited him

whether the estate invites the artist and the artist agrees or the artist gets permission from the estate - it could be viewed as a way to honor their work
So basically I don't agree with the opinion

But yet....a posthumous album was released where Justin Timberlake was the featuring - so in this case the MJ estate invited him Precisely, the MJ Estate invited him, not Michael Jackson himself, who had passed away and wasn't there to approve this. And it's common knowledge artists' estates tend to be exploitative as hell, and willing to compromise the choices, values, and beliefs of their 'product' for the sake of cash. Or do you think Aaliyah would work with Chris Brown had she been alive in 2013?

These arguments are not new at all. The debate of using dead artist's name and likeness has been a public issue ever since the Tupac hologram back in 2012. Samples are fine, but it goes into disrespectful territory when you try and pass off like you're working with someone dead.

C'mon Ed! I'm counting on you to release something brilliant and get back on the public's good graces.
I know he has it in him, and hopefully "Afterglow" 's underperformance (in the US, at least) didn't change his plans of going back to his roots.

It's the first song on the album and it's what they opted to perform but it doesn't look like it'll be getting an official push as a single. Honestly don't know why. It's crazy because Afterglow did pretty well outside of the US, not as good as his other hits but still well.

Wants and Needs up to #8 on AM, jumping over Late at Night, Wockesha & Yonaguni. It'd be #2 without the Lil Baby/Lil Durk album. I wonder if it'll also register gains in today's Spotify update.
