Imagine how many weeks BL could get if they didn't have the 52/25 rule. 100 weeks?
Radioactive and Sail were both very unique in that they charted forever in the bottom of the chart and then all of a sudden peaked later.

Uptown Funk and Perfect would have had over 160 weeks without recurrent rules, based on their time on the Hot 100 and Recurrents charts.

I had forgotten this til I looked it up but Sail and Radioactive charted at the same time
Yes they had different starting points (Sail's chart run was not consecutive) but the end point was nearly the same
This is the 3/8/14 Hot 100 positions for these two

oh I just found out that the song isn't supposed to be out yet, and Lorde's team has removed the song from Apple music and Tidal now :0
Well it's been 4 years, so I guess a couple hours of waiting won't be a problem at all!

An 'accidental' release is a great way to break through the clutter to build buzz. Ooh, a few 'lucky' people heard it before it got pulled - curiosity increases, people proactively try to the pulled release, etc. And, voila, suddenly a lot more people are aware Lorde is releasing new music. |

I was already aware of the new music, this is just annoying me.
But hopefully it indeed works in her favour. I don't have huge commercial expectations but I'd love a top 40 peak.
