Since it's a slow week, what's the worst hit song of 2021 and why is it Just the Way?

I don't see Levitating in the top 2 anymore. wear glasses so maybe you can see I think the ship has come and sailed for Levitating. Its iTunes discount is removed, and it’s only a matter of time until it peaks on radio. Once it does, I can see it having a gradual descent off the charts, like I Hope and Go Crazy. Not to mention, the holiday season is less than 5 months away.

Good Time kinda grew on me whereas Just the Way will probably never will which is shame because I actually liked The Git Up and thought Blanco Brown could do better.

I thought we already established the fact that PYRO was the worst song of 2021...

The H.E.R. album came out of nowhere? Or were we too busy discussing Billboard and baking ingredients? Not sure why no one actually answered this (well, other than not many H.E.R. fans in here apparently), but yeah, she announced it was coming literally just last week. So it is understandable that almost no one in here knew about it bc she isn't the kind of artist who can pull off a quick-release like that.

I'm curious to see how Red holds up to more modern production, especially the poppier singles that were very much tailored to the sound of 2012-2013. I still really like 22 (I mean, as a 22-year-old myself, I'm inclined to say that), and WANEGBT, her first #1, is also pretty good. The one I'm nervous for is I Knew You Were Trouble, which isn't quite Taylor's worst song ever, but the content is horribly melodramatic and the production has aged like milk in the sun. I'm really hoping they try something a little different with that one in terms of production to keep it fresh.

I know the point of these albums is to recreate the originals as much as possible but I’m praying that IKYWT’s production gets updated cause 2013 style dubstep in 2021 is not gonna fit her well at all 😭 if we’re lucky maybe we’ll get a rock version

Yeah, the singles of Red just doesn't fit with today's production choices. They have to update with the current sound because I don't want to hear dubstep drops in 2021.

I would’ve thought 1989 would’ve been a better album to re-do since those singles aged better than some of her albums.

Random fact: 3 songs that dropped today reference Doja Cat.
Isaiah Rashad — Headshots (4r Da Locals)
Tory Lanez — SKAT (feat. DaBaby)
Mabel — Let Them Know

Levitating is nowhere near number one. It is also decreasing in points. The stans need to accept that already. It is either Good 4 U or Butter

At this point, Levitating doesn't even need to go to one to top the YE, it's still stable and consistent to overtake Mood in the week or so.

While we’re at it, let’s start a list of honorary #1’s. Here’s mine: Baker Street Nobody’s Supposed To Be Here Gangnam Style Lucid Dreams What makes an honorary #1? I personally count the year-end #1's as regular Billboard #1's: "Wooly Bully", "Breathe", "Hanging by a Moment", as well as "Surfin' U.S.A." and "California Dreamin'". I hope to add "Levitating" to that list. I assume "Baker Street" is there because of the rumors that it was robbed in favor of Andy Gibb, and that "Gangnam Style" is there because YouTube views weren't counted at the time yet. But what about the other two?

Levitating is nowhere near number one. It is also decreasing in points. The stans need to accept that already. Most of us are aware that this isn't going to happen anymore, but we're looking for longevity inside the Top 10 now.

At this point I’m just embracing the fact that Future Nostalgia is a VERY rare album that has not one, but two iconic #2 hits
That third album better give her a #1 tho or I’m gonna be mad

But what about the other two? To qualify for my list, a song must have been #2 at some point during its charting run, and have been denied #1 due to a rule change or controversy. Nobody's Supposed To Be Here qualifies because it was the song squeezed out by the inclusion of airplay in December 1998. Had the rule been implemented one week later, it would have been the #1 on the week of 12/5/1998. Besides, it ended up spending 8 weeks #2, making it a worthy honorary #1. Lucid Dreams qualifies because it was widely predicted by trusted predictors (like fhas, doesn't get more reliable than that) to be #1 for the week of 6/23/2018 (it ended up being #5 that week due to streams being excluded). Then, it made another run at #1 in October, only to be blocked by one of the most bland songs of all time.

I thought Lucid Dreams only got to #5 instead of #1 that week because Billboard released incorrect streaming figures, which predictors used, until Billboard announced that Nielsen provided the wrong streaming number to them.

Here’s mine: Baker Street Nobody’s Supposed To Be Here Gangnam Style Lucid Dreams People often forget that Boulevard of Broken Dreams, Since U Been Gone, and Hate It or Love It, all of which are great songs, were blocked from going to #1 by the same awful song, that being Candy Shop.

Between the chart changes, shady happenings at Billboard, etc. lots of great chart hysteria. I mean history. Haha It’s definitely hysteria.
