@nicky1388 βButterβ actually had an hourly deal at pop radio! It opened at #30 on day one with ~2000 spins, and finished its first full week of tracking at #16. okay, cool then. the gp didn't like it. so why are they so obsessed with trying to keep it on top and shove it down the gp's throats? i just don't get wasting the time and energy and money on this. i know this has all been stated. i've been stalking these forums for ages, but there is no where else i can safely say these things. I assure your the GP is not affected by this. |

okay, cool then. the gp didn't like it. so why are they so obsessed with trying to keep it on top and shove it down the gp's throats? i just don't get wasting the time and energy and money on this. i know this has all been stated. i've been stalking these forums for ages, but there is no where else i can safely say these things. I assure your the GP is not affected by this. They were talking about the GP not really moving or reacting to Butter, not about chart positions |

Welcome to Pulse!π yes, but i also have a brain and i am not a sheep. good 4 u is the better song. the boys/or their label (and trust me, my two tattoos say i love them too much) have not put a ton of effort into winning over the american GP. both songs were brought to them instead of them writing them themselves. they rolled their eyes and practically made fun of western interviewers on Butter promo. i love BTS but i also love kpop and i wish bts would go back to being kpop. i miss music shows and things. i want them to get recognized and appreciated but i want them to do that as themselves and no some squeaky clean korean 1d which is what some of this feels like. it's just army trying to win over the gp and shoving them down people's throats ain't going to do anything but make people hate them just to spite you.Β An army, sure. As much as I'm sure you'd love for that to be true, BTS isn't a threat to ANY western artist. No one fears them and most people don't even respect them or their music. No one even cares about them being #1 right now. The GP most certainly doesn't, as it's felt like the top spot on the Hot 100 has been mysteriously vacant for the past 5 weeks, so relax with some of these comments. You guys can mass-buy and BTS' record label can use radio deals and every other conceivable promotional/marketing tactic on their singles as much as they want, it won't change a thing. I imagine that what bothers you the most about some of these comments is that deep down, you know they're true. You know having fans contribute funds for other fans to mass-buy BTS singles is the only thing keeping those singles anywhere close to the Hot 100 top 10 and you know that isn't a true and honest representation of the American general public (the people you and your faves are desperately seeking approval and acknowledgement from) supporting or even caring for BTS' music. If anything, all the ridiculous and relentless mass-buying is doing is alienating the people who might have become BTS fans otherwise. Any BTS fan who can't see that (and I suspect there's a whole lot of you who don't) is operating as a mindless stan in their own world, far away from the reality of the situation (in regards to this charts mess). |

They stopped going on music shows significantly long before the pandemic. The lack of audience is not why they stopped. Second, you can't declare weather or not i'm truly a stan because i want them to be kpop. I want them to be appreciated for who they are and not trying to fit into the west's idea of good pop music which is undeniably what they're doing. Perhaps not by their choice and maybe because of the label but still. Their english songs are a definite departure from their regular stuff. Okay, Namjoon wrote a few lines. Still doesn't make it groundbreaking. Also, to call music shows useless? Completely undermines the entire industry they've come from. You have just declared that the west is better with that statement. Which it is not. Both systems have their own pros and cons. |

I have been with bts for 7 years now, longer than most of the people who get mad at me about the way i stan have even been listening to bts. Bts is not a genre unto themselves and enjoying kpop as a whole does not make someone a bad person. |

They literally promoted "ON" on music shows last year and Boy with luv too, so what are you talking about? Also music shows should only be for rookies. They are useless for big artists. Korean awards shows like Korean music awards, MMA, SMA, MAMA I respect them more than Grammy so don't tell me I think western music industry is better.
Also you make it seem like their are forced by the company to release english songs. Two english songs comparing to 200+ in korean. Why there's no problem when they release songs in japanese for the japanese market? They can't even make two songs about nothing for fun because everyone start to say they sell out or they are controlled by the company.
You can be a fan even for 20 years but if you don't respect their work and their decisions you can't be an army. People get mad at multis because they never defend BTS and throw them under the bus.
That's all I'm gonna say about this. I really wish you all started talking about someone else because it's obsession at this point.
Edit. One more thing. Korean media started saying that they are not kpop but btspop. Not fans. BTS themself doesn't want to be locked in the kpop category. They said it many times. Kpop is an industry not a genre.

Watching all the complaints about Butter brings me back to this: I remember the GP not being happy about AATB cutting into the beloved Taylor Swift's run at #1. Swifties whined about this for weeks on end, until SIO went back on top before, of course, her Blank Space finally put an end to the 11-week run of AATB/SIO in the Top 2. Hmm I do not remember this at all. iirc, both songs were generally well-liked, All About that Bass possibly even more, and the trade-off at the top was relatively uneventful and non-controversial. |
