What distain? Just because I don't listen to your favourite pop girls doesn't mean I don't listen to others. Different music genres excist you know? Also I don't have obsession. BTS has ambitions (as they should) to success everywhere and I as a fan wants to support it. They can stop promoting in the US for all I care even tomorrow. They are not a traitor because they are not army. They are kpop stan. I am army and i am sick of people saying i am not. I have been with bts for 7 years now, longer than most of the people who get mad at me about the way i stan have even been listening to bts. Bts is not a genre unto themselves and enjoying kpop as a whole does not make someone a bad person. Don't let Meg try to gatekeep whether you can be a fan of BTS or not because you don't suit her standards.

Then came Uptown Funk in the winter of 2015, and pretty much was the transition from the sales/radio heavy era into the streaming heavy era. No song is ever going to dominate all 3 metrics at the same time for weeks on end like UF did. I wouldn't count out the possibility of a future massive song being able to dominate all 3 metrics in the same way that "Uptown Funk" did, Especially if that future song in question is able to resonate with different age groups and demographics.

Closer & Shape of You? Weren’t both #1 on all three for multiple weeks?

I mean, on a decade-end list, Closer was #4 on Streaming, #4 on Digital and #6 on Radio vs Uptown Funk's #6 (Str) #2 (Dig) and #3 (Rad). If we compare their weeks at #1 STR DIG RAD Uptown 12 13 12 Closer 12 13 11

So assuming that the "Beggin'" cover of the original song by The Four Seasons does in fact end up debuting on the Hot 100, It would actually end up becoming the first Rock cover to chart there since "Blue on Black" by Five Finger Death Punch and Co charted with their cover of the original song by Kenny Wayne Shepherd during the 2019 Chart Year.

Not much going on tomorrow's release schedule, although the Big Red Machine's song releases should get attention, particularly the one featuring Taylor Swift.

An army, sure. A whole kpoppie in disguise. SM stan? "I love BTS but I also love kpop and I wish BTS would go back to being kpop" Translation: i want them to stay in their line together with other kpop groups and stop threateaning my western faves. If you really was an army you would know they stopped going to music shows because there's no audience now. The only reason they were still performing on those useless shows was to see korean fans. Also Butter was co written by Namjoon. He still is on billboard songwriters chart. So what now? Are you done ass licking? Translation: you don’t worship BTS the way I think you should, therefore you’re a traitor. For someone who has such distain for western music, processes and charts, you sure have a strange obsession with your fav dominating the western (or just American) charts. I guess you didn't cheat, but you're still, you're still a traitor.

Funny trivia, the Bad Wolves cover of "Zombie" was sent to Pop and actually got spun quite a bit there before dying. I guess it was a bit too rough for pop audiences, but it was cool hearing a song like that on pop radio in 2018.

2018 was a good year for rock covers, with Africa as well coming not far from the YE.

I have a question. I am seeing panicky tweets from the butter buying mafia saying we don't have number 1 but the predictions all say we do. i am ready for it to start it's descent so we can get back to just having fun but i am confused by the different info i am getting.
Can one of you chart savvy people help me out?

Now that they've translated it for you plebs, can we now get YOASOBI to chart? Can't believe they actually translated Yoru ni Kakeru.

I’m thinking “Levitating” has a pretty clear path to the all-time most weeks in the top 10 list, no? I think it’s at like 25 and it’s #1 on radio with no clear challenger in the next couple weeks. Plus streaming and sales are still solid. Should be able to clear 32 weeks I think?

It looks like telepatia may have already peaked. (If not, it is very close.) Blinding Lights moved back ahead of it today.
Also, Butter got passed on radio by I Hope.
