I'm afraid 300 is not going to be enough. Good 4 u had 350 points last week and that wasn't good enough. Plus the Butter physicals are going to ship this week now. KMM needs at least 350, and possibly even 400, points to get the #1.

But where was this push pre G4u/Butter? KMM would have had an easy #1 if it was pushed the week of the LTDO/Levitating fiasco.

See he was overexposed during the Shape of you era and then decided to put out another project where that Justin song was pushed on us and it was nothing new or innovative. The other singles underperformed after that.

You are supposed to take a break once overexposed and he kept going.

The fact that he claimed he was going to take years off and people were rejoicing and even with 2020 it still didn't feel like enough of a break from Ed.

This song is a new sound for HIM but as many pointed out this sound is straight out of a early 2010s song.


If he pushed the boundaries and did something different maybe people would support it more.

Why would anyone think he would debut at #1 on Hot 100 is beyond me. He is never that big in US, plus this isn't the type of music that would smash there. I expected better results in UK but it is what it is, let's hope it'll have longevity at least.

As for this week's Hot 100, i'm rooting for KMM or Butter this week.

Had it not been for OTR, I Don't Care would've debuted at number one, that would've been two number one debuts for Ed after Shape of You. I Don't Care held the record for biggest global debut until Butter beat it.  It wasn't out of the imagination that he would debut at number one

Don't think that was the case. There've been mediocre acoustic pop acts from the UK that've been around for awhile and none of them broke through the same way Ed has. Even Lewis Capaldi didn't. Sure he had Someone You Loved and Before You Go but that's it stateside.

I think it is just the fact people are sick of his mediocre pop. Two bad projects and several overplayed singles is too much.

I guess the global general public decided that one Lay It All On Me was enough. (That song is really good, by the way. Bad Habits is an inferior copy.)

EDIT: This also reminds me a bit of the Robin Schulz remix of Waves by Mr. Probz, another really good song. So in other words, Bad Habits would have felt at home in the x/Multiply era.

Ed just was naturally coming off a colossal peak. Shape of You & Perfect are two of the biggest Pop songs ever on one album. Divide is arguably up there as like the biggest album ever in Europe… like Thriller level. He was gonna have a hard time topping that.

Regardless I really still would’ve thought Bad Habits would at least go #1 in a bunch of countries as his official comeback even if it did fizzle out early similar to Look What You Made Me Do/Born this Way/etc due to just coming back off such a huge period. The fact it’s looking to miss #1 practically everywhere is weird.

I’m sure it’ll probably do decent overall and one of his follow-up singles will do even better though. His secret weapon is always his ballads… I’m sure he’s gonna release some type of dreadful ballad that will be spammed everywhere for months.

Some people decide to forego ballads as a way of trying to prove that they can get massive success without them, but such moves usually signal an era that isn't going to last long or be a big success anyway.
