So how many remixes of βPermission to Chartβ are we getting? Does this mean BTS is blocking the top 2 for the rest of the summer? Tbh I'm skeptical it gets pushed hard after this week β it seems like a promo single, given that it's literally Butter's B-side. I imagine they return to Butter next week, unless it takes off on TikTok or something. Whatβs going to happen between the two songs on 7/31 will be interesting. Columbia is not actively promoting PTD right now, so without any remixes it may collapse altogether next week. On the other hand, Butter will have already gotten 7 weeks at #1 (which is symbolic because itβs BTSβ official number) and has probably already mostly sealed Song of the Summer at this point, so there might not be as much of a need to keep that song at #1. Weβll have to see what Army chooses to do. |

I'd say a Top 3 debut for "Stay" at least. BTS fans may try to go for both #1 and #2, but it would be hard since "Permission to Dance" isn't being promoted in the same way "Butter" was.

how do the army get real-time sales numbers anyway i never understand they have google forms to collect this data from the unhinged stans who go to their web store to buy the song. since digitally downloading a single on an artist's web store is a music consumption method no one really uses, I figure most of the buyers of BTS' D2C singles are present on stan twitter and in on the chart manipulation, so they probably have a higher rate of reporting their purchases than, say, a song like "Astronaut in the Ocean" would. the "Army fund" accounts require receipts before distributing the cash back from what I understand, so that's an added layer of sales tracking. in addition, fans can make estimations based on the order number they get from the store when they check out. if someone buys the single at the beginning of the tracking week and right at the end, and if the difference between order numbers is ~6000, they can estimate the total D2C units for the week based on the average number of copies bought per order. if we assume the average copies per order is ~18, that translates into ~108,000 copies. |

Stay: I like the late 00s energy in this, coupled with the beat, which sounds like it was taken from Blinding Lights. Also the bass line is similar to Lil Peep's "I've Been Waiting", which kinda makes me like it more.
NDA: The dark theme is done well here, lyrically and sonically, especially with all the bass, that beat, etc. I'm still looking forward to that album dropping in 3 weeks. (Also the plucks sound like the Among Us theme. I can't tell if that's intentional or not, but it's interesting because it's similar to how Bad Guy's drop sounded like "We Are Number One")
Motley Crew: This is just a party trap rap song, I'll take it as it is. I do like it/it is a banger imo. This is like the "Wow." of this album. The next single will likely be better though, especially if it's more pop/rock centered like some Hollywood's Bleeding songs.
Permission To Dance: Butter was better imo. This is only okay to me.
Songs that might not chart but I wanted to say something about anyway:
Cure For Me - Aurora: Give a song from Mario the bass from "Ghosts N Stuff" and you have a banger.
Say So - Masked Wolf: You'll like it if you have nostalgia for the early 2010s.
til the end of time - almost monday: This is kinda like the upbeat version of Redbone. I like it for that reason, even if only parts of it sound like that, but I like how uplifting the song is too.
This week has so many bangers (not just some of the ones listed above.) That New Music Friday playlist this week is like the liked songs playlist.
