Iโm thinking itโs more about listeners spreading out what theyโre listening to rather than sticking with a uniform set of hits to move on to collectively, and as a result, the remaining top songs, while they remain the same for longer, are still presumably getting less and less points over time.

I think pop radio is just picking the wrong songs.
They start playing a song that stalls at #25 on streaming like crazy - I don't see any point in that.
It's not surprising that songs with lukewarm response everywhere stall on radio too and makes it seem "slow" when in fact they just pick unpopular songs as new *cough* Charlie Puth over Encanto *cough*
One hit wonders like Glass Animals are anomalies, they'll are not likely to get another hit anyway so radio could happily stick to the one they have.

Yeah, I think the pop radio charts we have now would look a fair bit different if the radio consolidation that has affected virtually all the major Pop stations didnโt exist. Probably would make listening to them a lot less tedious as well.

Really surprised the Normani track is this low and Carrie Underwood not even in top 200. Carrie is hardly a surprise. Sheโs 39 and hasnโt had a hit in a long time. Sheโs a past star, like Avril, Britney, Christina, or Jennifer Lopez.

Charli XCX making it into the Top 100 instead of ROSALIA and Normani... definitely did not expect that, not on the US charts. happy to see it though, CRASH is so good and "Used To Know Me" is definitely among my favorites.

She never remixed any of her songs for crossover appeal, nor has she ever actively sent songs to Top 40 radio. Maybe a few have been sent to AC/Hot AC, but that's it. To that end she's never been a "pop star" anyway. Having said that, I would have expected this new song to at least be in the 100s on Spotify.

The phrase from above though "Sheโs 39 and hasnโt had a hit in a long time. Sheโs a past star, like Avril, Britney, Christina, or Jennifer Lopez." obviously refers to the chart in the thread title as the discussion was attempting to compare her to other pop stars of similar age. Using the all-genre Hot 100 as a means of measuring what a "hit" is, never really works for any genre-specific artists --- not just this one.

It's not that surprising. I don't think who's on the cover matters that muchโyou have to read the tiny caption underneath to see who it is, and Americans are not known for their particular interest in reading lol. jokes aside, even though the song is placed at #2 on the playlist, I did not expect it to end up getting more streams than Rosalia and Normani (who are at #3 and #4 on the same playlist, respectively). those two have had way more buzz and chart success recently. the last time a Charli XCX single touched the Hot 100 was in 2014. compare that to Rosalia and Normani, who both had Hot 100 hits in the last 6 months.

Something about Juice WRLD camp still releasing his unreleased songs ain't right. yeah they somehow seem to think "there's demand for it" adequately justifies releasing every half-finished song he made before he passed away in 2019. I hope they don't try to squeeze out a third posthumous album from him. the fact that they're even doing this "deluxe edition" gimmick feels weird and disrespectful.

It's such a shame that this is the norm with posthumous releases instead of actually being respectful towards the artist. Basically the same thing they did with X
