Honestly though, I'm wondering if she's willing to sacrifice a couple of streaming records and make the album available midnight local. This would definitely be the time to do it.

I wouldn't definitely think she'd rerecord "I Don't Wanna Live Forever." I also suspect she wrote "So It Goes" and "Don't Blame Me" as possibilities for the 50 Shades soundtrack.

I assume it would be on Reputation Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't IDWLF under Republic Records (despite Taylor being on Big Machine at the time)? If that's the case, there's no real need to re-record it since Big Machine would presumably have no control/claim over the song's use and Republic is Taylor's current label. |

I really hope Taylor pushes a lead prior to album release. I know a lot of folks enjoyed listening to folklore for the first time with absolutely no idea of what they would get (and I too shared that sentiment), but I feel that Taylor has a good standing with the GP right now, possibly the best since the onset of 1989. Now is the perfect time for her to resurrect her pop-radio dominance with a surefire hit. "Look What You Made Me Do" was clearly released with more of an intent for shock value, rather than being a CHR monster. Though ME! was meant to be a return to form, it ended up being just as polarizing to most due to it's immaturity and lyrical regression. "cardigan" and "willow" were folky, stripped back songs that were crafted to fit their respective albums more so than a radio playlist. Now is Taylor's time to work her magic, make a strong hook (while still maintaining mature lyrics a la her recent work) and kick the era off on a high note. Also, it would definitely help the album's preorder sales even more if listeners had a strong single to latch on to in the weeks preceding October 21st.

she's an artist first, but a businesswoman closely second! this is super clever marketing. I don't love her enough to buy 4 copies of the same album, let alone an album we haven't even heard a single song from, but I'm sure Swifties will eat this up.
I'm rooting for her to top 1 million units first week. folklore did 846k, but the vinyl was a pre-order that shipped 16+ weeks later (which might have discouraged some buyers), so I think if the music is good, Midnights can surpass 846k. if anyone is going to sell 1m, it's her. TS: the last SPSbender.

When it comes to being a businesswoman, Taylor is one of the best in the industry. I’ve already pre-ordered the original blue vinyl but the vinyl nerd in me really wants the vinyl clock. However, I’m not buying 3 more vinyls of an album I haven’t heard yet. I’m sure many Swifties and vinyl nerds will buy them and Taylor is smart for tapping into that.

That clock gimmick is a clever marketing ploy. There were always going to be fans that would have purchased all the variants anyway. At least now, they have a nice way to display them. I'll be sticking to my plan of buying the Target version (if it's a good enough album to warrant the purchase), but good for those fans.
So now that she's treated (and further milked) her hardcore fans with this vinyl clock, it would be nice if she could throw the rest of us something, like the lead single. At the very least, it would be nice to know the type of music to expect.

I think we'll get the new single once the eligibility period for 2023 Grammy Awards end. She would want to sweep all major awards so releasing the lead single and album in the same nomination period makes sense.

^ Exactly. I would love a September single (perhaps this Friday) but she will probably milk "All Too Well (10 Minute Version)" this award season. The 1st of October is a Saturday so it wouldn't surprise me if she had a GMA announcement on the 30th of September lol (probably not though cause she will want that New Music Friday extra push).
