Its seems a missed opportunity to not give a massive breakthrough hit a visual. She seems like such a visual artist.

An artist saying they’re exhausted like that surely is a red flag.

Yeah I certainly don’t think the no video thing makes her “lazy.” But I maintain it’s yet another piece of evidence that she isn’t handling the fame well. I’m sure Gaga was plenty “tired” too during the whirlwind that was The Fame through Born This Way stretch for her. Chappell doesn’t seem like the type to have that in her, and I think she’s very prone to burnout. Hope she takes a long while to make her follow up and adjust.

It's also what we're seeing. Artists today potentially have the freedom to be more open and upfront (to a point) whereas before, the only way for most artists to get their thoughts out there was through interviews or from the stage, and that was often filtered. Chappell (and others) can and are posting things through social media, perhaps against or without advice from publicists, so we're able to get a realtime reaction to different aspects of a career on the rise that we didn't get before. We don't know how Gaga, or Katy, or Madonna, or anyone else handled fame while on the rise because we didn't really have any way to hear it from them unfiltered. We only get snippets after the fact through autobiographies and whatnot and even then, it's likely to be just an overview anyway.

You're correct - she doesn't owe me anything and she's allowed to make choices for herself in her life. I'm also allowed to have opinions and imply she's lazy if I want to.

A lot of artists would love to be in her position. Getting the opportunity to film a music video for your biggest hit is an honor and privilege, but if she's too tired that's fair!
