I like Lil Nas on the song more than Camila. lol
What happened with her? She had a lot of potential with her first and even second era, but since everything just seems to be getting progressively worse...

I honestly don't know what happened, Liar/Shameless (bops too) flopped after Senorita's huge success, and it happened before the controversy, so we can't blame that.

I honestly don't know what happened, Liar/Shameless (bops too) flopped after Senorita's huge success, and it happened before the controversy, so we can't blame that. So much here to unpack. I think she got a bit typecast in the latin-inspired music genre, and when she tried to branch out into other areas, it didn't resonate. She had several hits as a featured artist after 5H, but when "Havana" came out, people really wanted more of that sound. Then she has "Senorita", another massive latin-infused song. So when "Liar" and "Shameless" came out, it was a departure in the sound fans enjoyed (a sound that brought her two MASSIVE hits), and these singles also suffered since they released both to radio and had to compete for attention (I will always say this was one of the big missteps of her career). Hence why they pushed out "My Oh My" after everything on that album failed to launch - another song that had some latin-inspired beats with an R&B overlay - and it went #1 on CHR. "Don't Go Yet" and "Bam Bam" followed that loosely inspired Latin vibe (and attached to a very Latin album, Familia) -- and they did fine (Bam Bam is about to cross 1B streams on Spotify and is her 3rd most streamed song on Spotify), but they never hit as hard as her past songs. People probably tired out of that sound. I kinda did -- I was ready to hear new energy from her. I think thats why she's dramatically shifting energy this album. I think shes wanted to make her own music, her way, for a while and if the latin-infused style isn't going to bring her #1 hits anymore, why not experiment?

Not sure if you read what I posted, but Bam Bam is #3 (as least with Spotify numbers). I agree though, they should have pushed Shameless and never tried to dual release. #1 - Señorita - 2,710,114,372 #2 Havana (feat. Young Thug) - 2,050,487,897 #3 Bam Bam (feat. Ed Sheeran) - 894,909,488 #4 Never Be the Same - 849,398,200 #5 South of the Border (feat. Camila Cabello & Cardi B) - 759,819,602 #6 Beautiful (feat. Camila Cabello) - 730,677,702 #7 My Oh My (feat. DaBaby) - 696,843,736 #8 Bad Things (with Camila Cabello) - 678,865,224 #9 I Know What You Did Last Summer - 605,154,082 #10 Crying in the Club - 516,197,684 #11 Shameless - 504,634,119 #12 Don't Go Yet - 494,486,289 #13 Liar - 487,238,854 #14 Know No Better - 432,085,882 #15 Hey Ma (with Pitbull & J Balvin feat. Camila Cabello) - 355,664,339 Just throwing fun facts out there at this point, but if you add in the Youtube numbers for Señorita and Havana, they are just insanity and really show how big she was at this point. Senorita has another 1.7B Youtube views, and Havana (audio and music video combined) have a massive 3B additional views.

Maximillian I should have clarified what I said, recently in the past year, Shameless has been Camila's top 3 streaming songs on Spotify, not of all time though, just in the past year.

Although she featured on popular tracks, her record label failed to properly promote her. She was often overshadowed by her association with Shawn Mendes during her initial debut with these HUGE songs, and I think many people can't recall seeing her in interviews or put a face/personality behind the name when they hear it.

Great song, did well, not remotely latin influenced. Coming off Havana sure, so it had that advantage. I liked her last album too. La Buena Vida and Hasta Los Dientes are great. Wasn't it also well received, even if it mostly tanked? I really don't think many people are, or ever have been, looking for the new Camila album to be honest and that's why the returns have been diminishing. Breaking out from 5H was a story, the Shawn thing was a story - pepper some good material (and restarts, Crying In The Club who?) and she's basically as good (and as successful) as her last hit. Absolutely a singles artist.
