Honestly the timing was alright. She has been sitting on this music since late last year ish, which made no sense to release then because Christmas was gonna overshadow it. There was no way to know this year was gonna be so crazy, but at some point they just had to drop or go the Normani way where nobody cares anymore.

Sadly for her some stuff didn't pan out ("I Luv It" was clearly made to go viral, it didn't - she featured Lil Nas X on this because by now he should be about to drop an album and be having hit singles everywhere, but his lead tanked hard enough that his entire career feels like it might never recover commercially). There's no denying the material isn't connecting at large but at the same time I think she was just unlucky because she's at a stage where she needs to rebuild hype and there's very little room. At least the album is coming soon. If it's all in the same vein and nothing connects they can just pivot to some standalones like she did early on her career. I don't think this is the sound audiences want from her. But considering Familia didn't really do that much either and it had mostly Latin infused stuff to cater to the Havana sound... I'd be just as lost as she seems creatively right now.

Absolutely do not take another big break this year tho, or it might be over for her commercial days.

Her music is really good this era. I love both releases. She surprisingly blends pop and rap very well. I say surprisingly because she doesn’t seem to be into rap but this looks like a rap heavy album.

I think this will eventually hit Top 10 on pop radio because it’s better and more interesting than other releases.
