I agree that its weird, but it might work? Sabrina has insane amounts of momentum right now, both in terms of social media and streaming/radio. I could see whatever she drops debuting at #1 as long I Had Some Help continues dropping.

This is rather a dud and album track. My first instinct immediately was “umm this sounds like a random switch up to the last few Taylor albums” and lo and behold Jack Antonoff is the credited producer lmao.

Yeah, my first thought as well. It's Kacey with some synths thrown in the mix, even down to the vocal stylings.

I like it. It’s no espresso and it probably won’t be a huge single outside of just promo, but I enjoy it. I don’t hate Jack like most people do online, this is far from his worst.

after a few listens, I agree with others in thread that this doesnt feel like single material. I think this'll stall at 15-20 if it's sent to pop radio.

This is 100x better than Espresso. That burned on me fast (although I wasn't a huge fan of it to begin with). I much prefer her vocals like this (very Kacey, as others said) and Jack did a great job on the production

This is nice, and reminds me a little bit of "Use Me (Brutal Hearts)" (maybe it's the bass line). I prefer "Espresso" to this though, and agree with others that it feels more like an album track than a follow-up single to two huge smashes.

Lushly produced, has a great balance of whimsy and melancholy, features all the great hallmarks of a popstar's breakout by being somewhat autobiographical (and thus helping cement a figure in pop culture) sofar as it relates to her relationship, amazing video which utillizes the star power of her BF and them as a couple, rich harmonics, interesting influences, atypical structure, deft and unusual key changes, on brand but new ground, different from Espresso so as not to be accused of copying but similar enough that it fits on the same album...with half of that in mind of course lots of Pop music forums don't like it on initial listen, and will predictably come round to it.

I doubt they're going to push it much, I think it's just another promotional tool to keep steam up on the rollout while Espresso dominated throughout the Summer. It may later be seen as a bit of a waste of resources, but for now it seems like a great way to make her (and the album) about more than Espresso, while not competing with it.

EDIT: Forgot to say, that topline melody for the chorus (and post-chorus) is absolutely kille.r

This is fine but there's no point promoting this. It's nowhere near "nonsense", "Feather" or "Espresso" in the catchiness department.

Espresso and this song are the only things I have ever heard by Sabrina. While song of the summer Espresso is still miles above this (especially in terms of pop appeal and overall catchiness), it grew on me and is a cute album track. I also hear traces of Olivia in the vocals, on top of the obvious Kacey influence. If Sabrina writes her songs, she is very clever!

Feather was a recent #1 song at pop so you might have heard that if you listen to pop radio.
