Morgan Wallen himself may be contributing slightly to "Please Please Please" locking down the #1 this week.
His feature on Moneybagg Yo's album, "Whiskey Whiskey" just passed "I Had Some Help" on Apple Music. They are #3 and #4 respectively. I'm sure most Morgan fans are listening to both, but it may take a few listens here and there away from "I Had Some Help."

In ten years if Sabrina is still around it's gonna be so weird for people to find out her first #1 was not Espresso lol. I'd love to see another "What's My Name/Only Girl (in the World)" scenario. Aside from the fact that multiple number ones from a single project is becoming less frequent these days.

In ten years if Sabrina is still around it's gonna be so weird for people to find out her first #1 was not Espresso lol. It’s like a tradition with big pop acts at this point, like how Harry Styles’ first was Watermelon Sugar and not Adore You, *NSYNC’s was Its Gonna Be Me instead of Bye Bye Bye, Rihanna’s was SOS instead of Pon de Replay, or artists like Selena Gomez getting their first toppers years after their breakthrough. Sisqo's #1 'Incomplete' a song barely heard anywhere, instead of #3 'Thong Song', which was airplay only. The CD single for 'Incomplete' included a remix of 'Thong Song,' which I'm certain was the driver of those sales. Another great example of why getting loco over chart positions really is pointless.

To be fair all of those except NSYNC make sense to me lol. Especially since Pon de Replay got blocked by an undeniable monster hit.

Yup. Another one is Drake with "One Dance" being his first #1, even though big hits like "Started From the Bottom," "Hotline Bling" and "Hold On We're Going Home" came before it. Down the line (hell, even already) it will feel odd that "We Are Never Getting Back Together" was Swift's first #1 since "Love Story" and "You Belong With Me" were big hits and have also seemingly endured better. Also, I don't think the general public ultimately knows enough about these things to even be able to be surprised lol.

Maybe I’m wrong but wasn’t Watermelon Sugar worldwide than Adore You?

EDIT: One Dance was his first #1 as a lead, God's Plan was his first without any featured artists.

I forgot harry had a song called adore you.
the title first makes me think of miley. and, due to specific tastes, adore delano.

"That's What I Like" going to #1 instead of "24K Magic" - another headscratcher.
But little things like this have always happened here and there. Color Me Badd had 2 #1s, neither of which was "I Wanna Sex You Up". And I always felt like Billy Joel's "Tell Her About It" should have been swapped with "Uptown Girl". Oh well.
Definitely rooting for "Please Please Please", even if it seems illogical - my favorite song right now!

Yeah I wanna sex u up was definitely their biggest hit and sold better than rush rush, the sing that kept it from #1, but Paula had the airplay advantage. The thing that makes Sabrina's situation strange is please x3 came along when the prior single was still climbing and about to peak. If espresso was done and dropping like Feather had been then I could understand please doing better as the followup single. In this case it just feels like each new song is getting boosted by the success of the previous single. Will be interesting to see how many more hits she can get when the full album drops And yes Uptown Girl seemed to peak when the chart was much more competitive whereas tell her about it snuck in at the right time in between Maniac and Total eclipse

TWIL was much bigger at the time and while neither is one of his most remembered hits I still think it's more known than the title tracks.

Also Kelly's #2 hit "Since U Been Gone" sandwiched between #1's "A Moment Like This" and "My Life Would Suck Without You."

Maybe tonight's concert will help "Not Like Us" rebound a bit (he did it five times in a row lol). Kendrick is killing it!

I thought Kendrick was done as a hitmaker only to ironically have a song bigger than any post-Scorpion Drake song.

I just know MTV is foaming at the mouth to get Kendrick and Drake both at the VMA's at the same time, I doubt they could even be in the same building without some sort of violence escalating. At least at this point, bro got 20k people to call Drake a pedo for 10 minutes straight.

Congrats to Miley on her 52d week atop the AC airplay chart, a full year! Incredible longevity for a bona fide pop classic!
Ariana's TBIM is already at 5.33M AI, I'd like to see this steadily grow into a radio smash. As for Sabrina, very happy she'll likely hit #1 with PPP, but I really wanna see Espresso get a week or two at #1 too. Given Espresso is likely on its way to 80M+ AI and hopefully even hitting #1 on radio, her team should push the single once its airplay peaks to top the Hot 100. It's definitely her most recognizable song, so it deserves it!

What is all the stuff about Kendrick paying for streams? I saw "proof" lol is it just salty Drake fans or is there truth to it?

I just know MTV is foaming at the mouth to get Kendrick and Drake both at the VMA's at the same time, I doubt they could even be in the same building without some sort of violence escalating. At least at this point, bro got 20k people to call Drake a pedo for 10 minutes straight. Oh right! The VMAs! This year has the potential to be the best VMAs in decades with all that’s been going on!

To be fair all of those except NSYNC make sense to me lol. Especially since Pon de Replay got blocked by an undeniable monster hit. NSYNC makes a ton of sense..."It's Gonna Be Me" was released as a commercial single and "Bye Bye Bye" wasn't. BBB reached number 4 solely off of airplay, and would have absolutely, unquestionably been number one had it had a retail single available. The same is true for a number of Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears songs. The only teen pop star from that era who regularly released physical singles was Christina Aguilera, which is partly how she racked up 3 number ones from her debut album.

This is also the 40th Anniversary of the VMAs so I wonder if they will be doing anything special.
