I agree, but yeah, chart watchers know why that's the case. ("IGM" has also endured well because of the 'It's Gonna Be May' memes and also feels like a #1 hit.)

As for 2000, I think the airplay-only singles that would've very likely went #1 with physical releases: Bye Bye Bye, Thong Song, The Real Slim Shady, Oops! I Did It Again, Kryptonite, and This I Promise You.

They all would've needed less than 25k sales at some point around their airplay-peak. Back At One & Show Me The Meaning of Being Lonely are also very likely, but instead would've needed 50k sales.

Anything else I think was moreso top 5 bet or lower. The sales they would've had to get for #1 would be relatively high and/or would've likely been outdid by one of the above mentioned songs if they also had physicals.

I mean, look at Kelly. on country radio she was on some top 10s with collabs. when she tried to go it solo, she couldn't even crack the top 20.

Spotify like rejigged their discovery feature since there started to be reporting and complaints about how heavily sabrina was being put on autoplay.

anyway, paid autoplay isn't a conspiracy theory but something that spotify publicly promotes as their "discovery mode".
