Lady GaGa is releasing a new song on Friday. With how weak the charts are, I can see this going #1 would be wild to go from no movement at #1 for weeks to potentially Morgan 1 this week and Gaga 1 next week

Why are the Spotify numbers so weak right now?

Why are the Spotify numbers so weak right now? While they are down from what we'd been having as of late, year-to-year it still looks better. Comparison with the equivalent Sunday last year in terms of U.S. Spotify streams: October 22, 2023#1 - 1.33 million streams #5 - 1.05 million streams #10 - 858,000 streams October 20, 2024#1 - 1.58 million streams #5 - 1.43 million streams #10 - 1.09 million streams You can see that each position is up at least 200k streams from this time last year. I think we're just in a 'calm before the storm' period where there isn't much new and exciting out, and things are on hold for the upcoming holidays.

I mean, she's currently in the top ten with a song that debuted at #3 a couple months ago. Yes, the Joker movie/album was a big dud, but I kinda think people are just ignoring that rather than viewing it as some kind of career killer. I wouldn't bet on a #1 but it's not impossible. There's certainly space in the pop landscape right now for something new to make an impact.

I'd be VERY surprised if her song debuted at number one - honestly, I think the chances it debuts top 10 are 50/50. Gaga's career is definitely successful, don't get me wrong. Her last two big hits (Rain On Me and Die With a Smile) were collaborations with more popular artists. Chromatica did alright, especially for someone so late into her career, but it didn't seem to really strike a chord beyond her pre-existing fanbase. And while it'd be unfair to say Die With a Smile's success isn't because of Gaga, I think Apt.'s success shows Bruno's popularity is nothing to sneeze at.

It's perhaps obvious to say, but it all comes down to the song. I don't think anyone would've predicted Miley Cyrus would come roaring back with a massive #1 with "Flowers" after struggling on the Hot 100 for several years, but the song hit just right and was huge out the gate. That said I agree a #1 debut is not super likely but I would love at least top ten for her.

The only way Gaga debuts at #1 is if she’s got some incredible Halloween-esque video that goes hugely viral for this last week of October. Which honestly I’m not ruling out since the timing of this still doesn’t make sense to me otherwise, but it would in that case.

We can all predict what’s likely and be right but then something like this happens and throws everything off kilter. Miley was headed into legacy land until “Flowers” became a career peak. Personally, I don’t see Gaga achieving a Flowers-level solo hit (even if DWAS is showing signs of being a major player among her own hits) but it’s definitely not entirely out of the question.

I think the potential is at least there for Gaga to have a Flowers moment and hit a shocking career high mark hit that no one expected, but I think it’s this era or bust. Don’t see that potential being there any longer, she’s simply going to be too old for that game (not my rules, but the harsh reality).

Anyone happen to have data on Gaga’s biggest h100 hits points-wise, or songs she has in the all-time top 1000? I feel like it’s surprisingly low since so many of her early radio juggernauts were not quite as huge on the h100

So yeah, the bar really isn’t *that* unachievable. A Flowers sized smash would def send her well past her career best. Maybe even DWAS still has a chance…

Are we living in an alternate reality where we think a solo lady Gaga song will debut at no.1 in 2024? I mean even with stupid love, if it weren’t for the remixes and website bundles she would’ve been lucky to get a top ten…. BUT then again stranger things have happened this year

Did Stupid Love use remixes? I thought it debuted thanks to hype alone, specially after A Star Is Born.
I think Gaga is definetely debuting inside the top 10, but I'm not so sure of a #1 debut (though I hope so. Another Gaga #1 hit would be amazing!)

I don’t think anyone expects a #1 debut, but it’s also not impossible either. Song needs to be catchy and not dated like SL, and like I said I think a buzz worthy Halloween vibe video for Halloween week is her best hope.

I mean even before DWAS she had a pretty popular single with Bloody Mary last year, barring Joker 2 it seems Gaga still captures the public's imagination despite not being as big as she was 15 years ago. I really don't think a #1 debut is out of the question, honestly.

^Bloody Mary charted managed to chart thanks to its sped up version appearing on Netflix series Wednesday and becoming viral along with an associated dance on TikTok.

The low AM position makes me think that the K-pop bot army does part of the job for APT. (Those that make Who charting in top ten on Spotify week after week).
As far as Gaga's new single goes, nothing is certain, except that the fanbase will buy and stream on week 1 - it's the LG7 lead after all.

I was referring to global numbers more on Spotify. Who always makes crazy jumps on Sundays there for whatever reason. But it could be all organic and both Rosé and Bruno are huge in the Far East.

The low AM position makes me think that the K-pop bot army does part of the job for APT. (Those that make Who charting in top ten on Spotify week after week). Song is going viral on tiktok especially the bruno mars segment. It already has 2 snippets that have over 100k videos each. www.tiktok.com/music/APT-7427018047518444304also I love rose but her fandom is a good deal weaker than lisa and jennie whose songs haven't performed anywhere near as well. bruno's song with gaga also rose throughout the weekend. it just the nature of a song that gets an increase due to great word of mouth bruno is super powerful on global streaming with a good song. he doesn't have a huge fanbase to get instant hype (which is where rose helped out) but a song of his with good word of mouth , will smash.
