tico, listen to the whole thing. The beginning is very disappointing, but IMO the middle to end is a lot better.
Anyone agree with this?

I heard this premiered on the radio Friday night, and I thought it was awful. I've listened to it a few times on All Access, and while I don't love it, it has grown on me a bit. I'll say she gets to #16, but she could surprise me by going higher.

I like this song quite a lot in fact. I think it has enough "staying power" to make the top 10. It reminds me of a Paula Abdul kind of track.

krazy, my thoughts exactly. The first time I heard it, I immediately thought of Paula's Spellbound album. This would fit right on there.

I personally love the song but I'm a pretty huge Britney fan. It will probably do well on the charts and it might stall for awhile but then the video will premiere and it might get another big boost. This song has a lot of potential if people would give it a chance because it's definitely a grower.
Thanks, Ben

I don't think the song is that bad. It really grew on me quite a bit, I thought it was a huge mess when I heard it, but now I think everything about it is catchy and definately something thats fun.

I heard the song for the first time tonight on one of those one-song-versus-another radio polls. It did seem like a mess, but it was my first listen, and the song may grow on me.
I was more surprised by the fact that almost everyone calling in was voting for it, with people saying that it was a great song (tonight was apparently the third time the song won).
With the disappointing chart run of "American Life" and the questionable current popularity of both Britney Spears and Madonna, I'm not sure they can go top 10 with this song. I'll hope for the best, though. :)

I think this is a solid top 10 effort! and that's what I'm predicting with a strong chance at Top 5 or #1. I cant see this song going top 10 without going top 5.

This song could still have experienced this "so far" success even without Madonna on the track

+1700! Ironically enough the last time a song had over +1500 on mediabase was Christina Aguilera's "Fighter".

This just keeps gaining faster and faster. It had less than 1300 spins yesterday, meaning it gained 450 spins in the past day.
I'm wondering if this can make a top 50 debut higher than "Sometimes", which debuted at #24(and also holds the current all time record, as far as I know).

"Sometimes" has the highest debut ever on CHR/Pop? Oh I didn't know about it... Well, it's possible that "Me Against The Music" can beat that record since the song has 3 more days to blast until the cutoff on Sunday night. I am curious to know where the track may/will debut on the next Billboard Hot 100 chart... This track is doing much better than I expected... seriously.

No, Jon Secada's "Another Day" debuted at #15 on R&R, "Frozen" jumped to #15 on R&R in its first or second week on the chart... it did debut at #15 on AT40 though.

Wouldn't it be interesting if the song debuted at #24 and plummeted from there? Has any song debuted in the Top 30 and peaked in its debut week?

Has any song debuted in the Top 30 and peaked in its debut week? The closest I can recall was All Star Tribute "What's Going On", which debuted at #27 and peaked at #25.

Redzone produced it. They did a good job ;). On Billboard she'll debut pretty high too. Her audience impressions are equal to Pink's I believe and she's in the high 20s. I wonder how she'll fair at R&R and Mediabase.
Thanks, Ben

I wonder where this song will be the week after it goes for adds. Perhaps #20 or #21?

Didnt All 4 U debut at *12 at R&R Pop? I know for pretty sure that "That's the way love goes" debuted in the top 20 for R&R

Currently MATM is #27 with a gain of +2167
Here's a few others I remember:
When You Believe: Debuted at #33 (in the top 50) and peaked at 28.
Jupiter: Debuted at #44, the next week was #43, and fell off the next week.

Smash Mouth's "Waste" made its top 50 debut at #38, spent 4 weeks there, and fell off the next week.

I thought "Give Me Just One Night (Una Noche)" by 98 Degrees debuted at like #22 or #23 its first week on the pop chart. And for that matter, Ricky Martin's "She Bangs" also made a big debut if I remember... By far, Britney will have the highest top 50 debut this year. What other song debuted in the top 30 this year?
