How did Mariah get brought up LOL. I feel out of touch. 300K for Eminem would be EXTREMELY low. I would be shocked.

^As if that ever was in doubt? With many female acts underperforming as of late, why single out Ms. Aguilera. Far as I know, she's not even as into the charts game- the mega-fans, that may be another story. I guess it's standard practice for some, though, to have fun with the latest female who's not hitting a charts home run. linkin has a crush on Christina. He mentions her in literally every post he can whether it relates to her or not in any way. at explaining that concept to HolidayGuy.

I love when he always talks about how IGF is so successful, has better chart run than WBT, has more longetivity than WBT, bla bla bla. Whatever, like it or not, WBT will always be the song of the decade 00s. In your opinion. Countless tracks outsold it, many songs from the 00s get more recurrent airplay, and internationally it wouldn't even be in the Top 100 hits for the decade. So what? WBT is still the song of the decade according to Billboard. That's all I/we fans care about. :)

This is exactly why this thread should not be created until we have an actual article. The usual crap I have to read... Then don't read it and stop complaining

How much did Relapse sell in its first week? I'd think it would do close to that, if not more... he seems to be having a lot of positive buzz, more than what came from Relapse, but we'll see. Eminem's selling power is just amazing to me. And Drake's numbers are amazing.

Yes! Go Drake!
And I think Eminem will at least get 400k! But I'm thinking he'll get 500k or so!

Recovery will sell just as much as Relapse did first week. It would have done that even without the extra day. You guys are really underestimating Em. It will do more than Drake easily. Seriously why do people think he will do so low (300K-400K)
Makes no sense.

Seriously why do people think he will do so low (300K-400K) Makes no sense. Because they don't like Eminem and seem to always underestimate him. If you look around Pulse people call him over yet his albums easily outsell 3/4's of everyone else, and his songs all have good digital numbers. They forget he has a solid fan base. There is no way he would get anything lower than 400k, probably even under 500k. And with an extra day of sales I could see him doing close to Relapse numbers.

You don't need to explain this to HolidayGuy. Out of all people he knows EXACTLY what you're talking about. He connects every dot of every post to Mariah. HG has not mentioned Mariah at all. You have. For no reason! Why don't you mind your own business, how bout that. I wasn't talking to you. FYI, FOR ALL THE NOSY PEOPLE :LOVE PLASTIC LOVE, was telling HOLIDAYGUY that I have a crush on Xtina because I "literallly mention her in every post" WHICH IN FACT IS NOT TRUE. SO I replied to LOVE PLASTIC LOVE, that she shouldn't even bother saying that to HOLIDAYGUY, because he knows very well what that is since he always brings Mariah up whenever he gets a chance. Which is indeed a fact. Yes, HE MAY BE DOING IT UNDERHANDEDLY but he does it.

I don't get why people underestimate Eminem. Someone literally wondered why he is still releasing cds-uh, because his last sold millions upon millions worldwide even without a string of successful singles, he hit #1 with his new single from this album, and the new album will surely sell millions as well? Like, why should he stop?

You do post about Christina a lot-it just seemed strange to me because I don't get posting so much in random topics about someone you dislike. It goes over my head, I suppose. It doesn't matter either way. I have no idea what this HG/Mariah stuff is, but I guess it is a good time to bring discussion back to what matters which is Eminem shutting everyone down when his cd is released!

DRAKE TAKES THE CHART CAKE Eagerly Awaited New Hip-Hop King Looking at 450-475k for Thank Me Later, Tom Petty Eyeing 100k+
June 16, 2010
You can Thank him now, or Thank him Later, but the record industry should show its gratitude somehow because Drake’s new album is the first blockbuster of the summer, and it couldn’t have come at a better time.
The half-Jewish Toronto hip-hop star who got his start in the teen TV cult hit Degrassi: The Next Generation, goes to the head of the class this week on his Young Money/Cash Money/Universal Motown debut, Thank Me Later, with first-week sales in the 450-475k range, making it a lock for #1.
Based on one-day sales reports from those retailers still blowing their own vuvezelas, that would be the third highest-total this year to Sade (501k) and Lady Antebellum (481k).
The postponed album comes to retail fresh off a pair of hits in “Over” and “Find Your Love.”
Next up, Reprise’s Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers album, Mojo, his first with the band since 2002, is off to a solid start, on target for between 100-110k, good for #2.
Capitol/EMI’s Now 34 is the next highest debut, with estimates in the 80-90k range, while Arista/RMG Lilith Tour headliner Sarah McLachlan’s Laws of Illusion will rack up 75-85k.
Side One Dummy’s Americana rockers The Gaslight Anthem look to be in the 20-25k range.
The market was up 6% vs. last week, down 14% vs. same week last year and still down 11% year to date. And you thought that English soccer goalie had it rough

I hate how im one of the few fans of Em on here! Whenever an Em single is out nobody seems to care, and his thread gets no love...It barely reaches 2 pages!

People keep saying that Christina is bombing because she is to lazy to go on drugs and call 911 to her house every now and then (promo), but Sarah is the real example of how plain old neglect can send the fanbase packing.
GN'R are more prolific.

It's going to be a very strong top ten. Congrats to Drake and Tom Petty. I haven't listened to any of em, but I surely will. The Now collections always seem to sell very well...
Anybody knows how McLachlan is doin compared to her previous works?

It's not like she's a 30 year-old, high-profile, mainstream act.

^ Yeah, I get that. I wasnt expecting legs, just that the disc would probably have a fat opener. She had a live album sell 3 million in the U.S, that usually screams "lifelong fans".
Her genre is "Sarah McLachlan", her demo is the same as people still buying CD's (35 and overs), etc. Acts like her tend to actually have these "fanbase" things that people pretend the random pop tarts of the moment have.

Lawdy @ the posters who continually feel the need to talk about me and my alleged dislike of an act, even when that act is not mentioned in the discussion- does it really matter that much to y'all? Even if it were true, why should it bother YOU? Am I talking or referring to YOU? Some people take things way too close to heart about their favorite acts- imagine the tussles I would get into if I got into it with every poster who said a derogatory thing about my favorite act? Can't be bothered- and it's their viewpoint, anyhow, so let em have it. And, yes, I do have an account at that board, but haven't posted there in eons, as I haven't been crazy overall about the last couple of projects.
As always, if one doesn't like my postings, ignore em- very simple. And contrary to belief of a few, my posts are varied in who is mentioned, thanks.
Drake's projection is fantastic. Sarah McLachlan's fanbase has dwindled over time, and, no, she isn't exactly working the promo trial all that much, from what I have seen.

Ughh. I'm disappointed with Sarah's numbers. How is it that Wintersong did better than this. I'm hoping this one sells in the long run. Congrats to Drake, lets get that 500k! LOL at people saying "only 400k" as if it isn't a lot. When was the last time you saw a Canadian rapper even sell more than 100k?

So happy for Drake! I got the album yesterday and it definitely lives up to expectations. Also happy for Sarah whose album I also got yesterday. She's one of my top artists and I love everything she does to pieces. I wasn't expecting her to do big numbers as she is getting older and her album basically had zero promo and no big single to promote it. Right now she's relying on nothing but her core fanbase because casual listeners will not even know she has an album out. But she's done more than enough in her career - the Fumbling Towards Ecstasy album was good enough to make her a legend in my book!

^Wintersong was a holiday album, and increased sales throughout the holidays (it debuted outside the top 40, and eventually climbed to #7). And, it did have a Hot 100 entry in "River." Add to that that album sales were stronger in 2006.

Really happy for Drake. I am not a fan of Hip-Hop/Rap but I really really like this album. I actually think the weakest track is 'Over', his current single
