well it could have been worse for Christina, but if there are no right single choices, the album is gonna plummet faster :(

Xtina and Glee had huge drops... great #'s for Sarah, Tom and Drake. Eclipse isn't holding that well, so it might be the first Twilight sdtk to miss the #1 spot. it could miss #1 but it wont start selling well till the movie releases

Hopefully Drake does not suffer a huge fall next week. And Xtina out the top ten already?

I think Drake will be #3 next week. Don't know about the drop though.

Do some people not consider filming four videos for all four singles from an album promo? I sure do. Plus, Didn't Spears do TV promo when the album was released? And, a tour serves as album promo, doesn't it? Some acts don't hit the TV circuit, performing their latest single(s) regularly. Regardless, 1.6m is a respectable number. Not a smash, considering the airplay the singles got, but far from a dud.
Nice that Sarah McLachlan's numbers ended a bit higher than projected. And the King/Taylor juggernaut continues.

I honestly don't think Drake will drop that much. As long as he has a few singles out and promo he should be fine. Btw Imma also gonna give that album a try. I loved "Find Your Love".

Great numbers for Drake :) And with Em & Miley coming next week at least we will have some more good numbers!
Lovin Miranda's gains! Her album is brilliant, and I'm glad she's getting alot more commerical success(while still turning out great albums).

This week, Albums #1, #3, #4, #6 and #7 sold more than the album in those positions this time last year.

If U Seek Amy was a hit, yes, but it peaked at #6 and only spent 6 weeks in the Top 10. Then Radar flopped at #32. According to Billboard, Womanizer peaked at #6 on overall airplay, Circus peaked at #7, If U Seek Amy peaked at #18, and Radar didn't even make the Top 100. So, considering the airplay, I'd say it did great.

poor xtina.....i used to adore her but her "attitude" is a bit downer...yes, she has a good voice but no collaborations with any hot women in music (Beyonce, Madonna, Britney etc) reflects her unwillingness to share the spotlight whereas it's a good marketing i guess there are so many Gaga-converts out there, including myself:)
at the end of the day, it's always business, u cant really be self absorbed

13 8 CAROLE KING & JAMES TAYLOR HEAR MUSIC 40,027 +50% LIVE AT THE TROUBADOUR HITS predicted them for around 30k. The extra bump is the "Today Show" effect. Still a great week though. 17 19 B.O.B. ATLANTIC 18,626 -1% ADVENTURES OF BOBBY RAY Still holding steady, I just wish he were seeing some gains considering how big of a hit "Airplanes" is. As for Christina, well, better luck next time. i think the reason b.o.b isn't doing better is because "airplanes" isn't even top 100 on the r&b/hip hop charts, so it's not hitting the traditional rap fans. I think "Airplanes" already peaked on the r&b/hip-hop charts the last time i checked it was in the 70's

It can only be served as a promo when local news make a reportage for it or something. As to Britney, she had like 1 week of promo during the album's release and then disappeared and focused entirely on the tour, whereas other acts with equally or even more successful singles hit TV shows much more oftener and as a result, they manage to sell much more than 1.6 million. All things considered though, I'd say 1.6 is pretty damn good for a 2008 release.

Well the no. of weeks in top 10 depends on other albums.. Didn't expect Bionic to stay in when top 4 are all new entries. Bionic sold approx. 16 000 more than Animal when that was no. 10 a couple of weeks ago.

Bionic is #9 on the Billboard 200.
Billboard estimates 500k for Eminem next week.

HDD was a little off this week, overestimated Drake by 20K and underestimated xtina.

Yes, but out of Kesha and Xtina, which one has sold about 40 mil albums previous to her current one? LOL. Neither.

Slightly above normal, 60-65% is normal. Twilight also fell 67% and Glee fell 76%, so comparatively, she was on par. Those are soundtracks though, Glee is going on no promo, no airplay, no new episodes etc. and Eclipse will probably continue to take a bit of a tumble until the film is released next week. Christina didn't sell much (by her standards) to begin with so it is a little disappointing that she didn't have a softer fall considering she didn't have as much room for decline in the first place. But what can you expect without a hit single...

And local newspapers *do* report on concerts in their cities. Unless you're P!nk, sales don't change that much. If that were the case then Hard Candy would sell much more than 700k copies in the US and more than 4 million worldwide considering the success the tour had. Same with Britney and many others. About the local news, I doubt the artists decide to go on the road in order to be heard on the news. It's more of a side profit rather than the real goal.
