Announced last night on Sirius. No adds date yet. This will stand as the signature song of the album in my opinion. Watch out for this.

Thought this would be the choice. Good choice though, but I prefer "Arlandria" to this.

Announced last night on Sirius. No adds date yet. This will stand as the signature song of the album in my opinion. Watch out for this. There's no doubt this is one powerful record that will stand the tests of time among their listeners and be a setlist staple, and will also be an effective radio anthem. I will add, though, that I think "These Days" will actually emerge the more likely signature song this era. But maybe that's the point regarding why this era has proven triumphant for them both critically and commercially. It's so good........it has multiple signature songs in the making. I'll add I can't possibly contend with this being released before "These Days". "Walk" is a much more roll-down-the-windows-on-a-hot-summer-day sounding, feel-good anthem with a fiery, defiant urgency in living fully. "These Days", in contrast, is its autumn/winter weathered twin........with its brooding and anguishing, yet equally as soaring and anthemic, content. It makes perfect sense that this is being released first in order. Namaste, Lisping Hibiscus

I think there'd be a risk releasing These Days to radio after walk. Maybe down the road, it would resonate a little more. But with White Limo, Back & Forth, and Bridge Burning waiting in the wings, I think they're set on radio for the year. As for Walk, it's a great epilogue to and album about so much death. And the news comes on Easter week. How fitting. Death has always been a frequent theme echoed in Grohl's songwriting. All three singles from the preceding era touched on the subject to varying degrees ("Let It Die" the most explicitly) * As for single choices, I don't see "Walk" getting rush-released, with "Rope" still at the summit on Alternative radio. I certainly believe "White Limo" is the least accessible track as far as radio potential is concerned. And while I agree "Bridge Burning" sounds like an inevitable contender for radio, I think "These Days" will likely precede it. Namaste, Lisping Hibiscus

I think if "Walk" is next, they'll want to alternate rocker-ish/ballad-ish/rocker-ish/ballad-ish. Granted, I can't remember them going four singles deep recently with any of their albums, but they just might with this one.

Interesting. One station randomly added I Should Have Known, These Days and Miss the Misery. I know it means nothing, but it was random to see still. XD
Edit - Wasting Light sold 230k according to HDD. So Billboard's totals should be somewhere around that figure. Definite #1 though. :)

I think WAAF is not very good. They used to be, but now they have about the safest playlist on the planet.
And Adam, I see Mediabase flipped WPBZ to active rock. Has their playlist changed at all or is Mediabase just purging all non-indie leaning stations from the format?

^And "I Should've Known" is my favorite song I've heard from the album so far.

I'll be pissed if both "Walk" and "These Days" are singles. "These Days" is a rip-off of "Times Like These," and both are just takes on their same old trite, ultra crossover friendly crap they've been putting out the last decade. "Arlandria" and "Back & Forth" would be Alternative staples for years - they're more in vein with their 90's stuff, and catchy as hell. I do like "Walk" the best of all the ballads, though...at least Grohl sounds invigorated.

You use the word trite for "Walk" and "These Days", but not for "Back & Forth"...and then go on to say it would be a staple for years? Really???

Great single choice! I hope ''These Days'', ''Back & Forth'' and "Arlandria'' to be the next singles!

Awesome. 9 singles would match Theory Of A Deadman. that's not what they're gonna do

I was wondering about that as well. I live in the Orlando area now, so I listen mostly to WJRR, but I was down in South Florida this past weekend and it seemed like the normal stuff you'd hear on WPBZ. Rise Against followed by Florence & The Machine, followed by Foo Fighters. Then, all of a sudden AC/DC came on, then New Medicine, and then Led Zeppelin. Once I got back up to Central Florida Sunday night since I had a feeling a change was in order. I did some investigating and sure enough, yeah they switched it to Active Rock. I've looked at what they played over the last few days and it's almost identical to WJRR. Apparently WPBZ's ratings haven't been that good over the last few years and I think that had to do with the Alternative format changing to a lot more indie leaning, which they've never played a whole lot of. I'm guessing they took advantage of WHDR in Miami getting switched at the start of the year. It's a very risky move if you ask me.

I wish it would since my parents live in Parkland where sometimes it doesn't come in that well, but no it'll still be based out of West Palm. The tower is actually in west Martin County. You can hear it from basically as far north as Melbourne and as far as south as Central Broward.

This is actually their second highest sales week, only beaten by In Your Honor's debut week. Believe it? Or not!

Anything would be better than Rope honestly xD But this and Arlandria are my favorite from the album. Along with White Limo, but as someone said - that one's not as radio friendly.

I think "Rope" is WAY better and WAY more accessible than "White Limo". I also think "Rope" is the best lead single they've had since "Everlong" (was "Everlong" even the lead single off that album or was it "Monkey Wrench"?...if it was MW, then "Rope" becomes my favorite lead single of their career, just edging out "The Pretender"). And that's beating out a lot very likable competition for me (though I thought "Best Of You" and "This Is A Call" were kinda ehh).

"Monkey Wrench" was released before "Everlong". Either of those would edge out "Rope" for me, as would their other lead singles up to and including "All My Life". But "Rope" is the best one they've had since then.
