Well Wasting Light is Gold, I know, Greatest Hits could be. Sometimes Billboard certifies albums Gold even though they are still under the 500,000 mark but close.

Well, you said almost, so I'm guessing you didn't know. Billboard has nothing to do with certifying.

Gold/Platinum certificates really have little to do with actual units sold. They are based on the amount of units shipped.
Scott Stapp's 'The Great Divide' debacle anyone?

Little is an overstatement. The old saying is the scans are for the labels, the trophies are for the artists. In the vast majority of cases, they match up evenly over time.

Nice! Hope it keeps their string of #1s going. :)
Other than "Wheels" of course.

New #1 on Alternative: 2 1 FOO FIGHTERS Walk 1753 1499 254 7.664 RCA probably felt they couldn't compete with "The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie" in subsequent weeks, so decided to aggressively clamp on the accelerator to ensure it at least enjoys a #1 bragging right. It's sad this happened, and it only looks like a sign of weakness from RCA's end..........but it's hard to argue why they've done this. Given the Red Hot Chili Peppers' reputations for all three of their past lead singles enjoying double-digit reigns at the summit, it would have been quite challenging competing with this sort of behemoth. In almost any other scenario, this single would be enjoying at least six weeks at #1. But this may very well be a sole week #1 that nonetheless enjoys legs at #2. Namaste, lisping HIBISCUS

RCA probably felt they couldn't compete with "The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie" in subsequent weeks, so decided to aggressively clamp on the accelerator to ensure it at least enjoys a #1 bragging right. Seems likely, but it's hard to know for sure. The song has had a pretty healthy bullet throughout its chart run. I don't get why this is sad or why it's a sign of weakness. They got the #1 which is not sad, and RCA if anything showed strength to make sure it got there beforehand. Two #1's from a band that's only managed multiple #1's from an album once before is pretty impressive. In almost any other scenario, this single would be enjoying at least six weeks at #1. But this may very well be a sole week #1 that nonetheless enjoys legs at #2. With Blink-182 heading up the chart with a decent amount of steam, we don't know what their name value and track record of singles hitting either #1 or #2 on the alternative chart will mean. And Blink has had the #2 spot while RHCP was #1 before. It could be like 1999 all over again. If RHCP runs as strong as they have the past decade, Blink and the Foos may be battling for those legs at #2. Rise Against may enter the equation too if they match their usual success, but it might take awhile. Time shall tell.

www.billboard.biz/bbbiz/industry/retail/chart-moves-bad-meets-evil-s-lighters-ignites-1005289062.story-- Foo Fighters: The bad news for the band on the Rock Songs chart? Its "Rope" drops to No. 2 after spending its first 20 weeks at No. 1, the longest reign in the chart's two-year existence. The good news is that the group becomes the first act to replace itself at the summit, as follow-up "Walk" steps 3-1 (11 million audience impressions, up 13%). On the Hot 100, "Walk" advances 100-93. Foo Fighters is the first act to log three No. 1s on Rock Songs. The band first ruled for two weeks with "Wheels" in 2009 and is now the first to monopolize the chart's top two spots simultaneously. The latest singles' parent album "Wasting Light" became the Foos' first No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, bowing atop the April 30 tally. The set has sold 515,000 copies, rebounding 61-47 on this week's chart

There's also no guarantee that RHCP will get to #1 next week. It took "Rope" several attempts to get to #1.

I think a skinny week at #1 is good enough for the label and the band.

Looks like this could spend a second week at #1. It's still over 100 spins above "The Adventures of Raindance Maggie".

Not going very strong on active. On the contrary, it has risen much faster than I thought it would at Active Rock. Even though they've always been quite successful there, they've never exactly dominated the format like they have Alternative radio. "Rope" was only their third chart-topper there to date, and this single's present peak is consistent with that of other recent second singles including "DOA" and "Times Like These" (both having peaked at #5). Namaste, lisping HIBISCUS

Finally listened to the album with my full attention for the first time the other day, after countless listens in the car. It's decent quality, for sure, but it's noticeably more middle of the road than I'd previously felt. For the most part, the songs are a little too long, being stretched out with unnecessary repetition.
I like "Dear Rosemary," my favorite, more than ever, but I like my next two favorites, "I Should Have Known" and "Miss the Misery," slightly less. I like "Bridge Burning" and "White Limo" a little more, "Rope" and "Arlandria" about the same. I feel "Walk" is very middle of the road and place it 7th out of the 11 songs. The succession of "These Days," "Back & Forth," and "Matter of Time" is the album's mediocre low point, in my opinion. By the time I got to the finish, what was going to be a half-hearted four out of five stars had probably been knocked down to three and a half. I'll give it another listen from least favorite song to favorite and then will likely have my fully formed opinion/ranking.

I'm disappointed. "These Days" and "Back And Forth" are two of my favorites from that album.

Yeah, I like that one too. I'd assume These Days is the only song NOT having a chance to be the next single.

LOL that's what I thought when this was first announced as a single. I like this and it got to #2 on my chart but I'm sick of it now. I want "These Days" next.

I'd assume These Days is too similar to be a direct follow-up. Hoping for something a little peppier like White Limo or Back And Forth.
