13. "Step Back In Time" from Rhythm Of Love (1990)The first entry on my list from Rhythm Of Love is "Step Back In Time", which served as the album's second single. It was actually released a month before the album, as lead single "Better The Devil You Know" was released shortly after its recording to introduce a 'new' mature Kylie to audiences, a full seven months before the album release. This was Kylie's first foray into disco pop, and what better way than with a track that urges us to 'step back' into the old days and listen to the O'Jays? Nowadays, we're stepping back in time to listen to this song. What kind of iconic foresight? Written and produced by Stock, Aitken & Waterman, the song has since become one of Kylie's 90s classics. The accompanying music video is 70s glam, and Kylie looks so beautiful in those scenes with the blue background. :') Let's not talk about the tragic alternative European video. I love this song so much, literally who couldresist it? It's just too fun. brb gonna dance around my bedroom now ok

12. "In My Arms" from X (2007)The second European single (third in the UK and Australia) from X, "In My Arms" was a moderate hit in most countries in early 2008. It's the highest ranking single from this album on my list. Co-written by Kylie, Calvin Harris and some other flops, and produced by Harris & Richard "Biff" Stannard, the song is an electropop dance anthem with commanding synths and thumping bass. It's quite clear who produced this track after one listen; Kylie was the first major artist to work with Calvin after coming across his tracks on Myspace in early 2007. This is one of two tracks from X to come from those sessions, the other being the shitastically awful "Heart Beat Rock". This song is flawless tho, so all is forgiven. The video is just as avant-garde as the song, with Kylie sporting some cool shades and a Gareth Pugh creation (also worn by Roisin Murphy in her 2007 "Overpowered" video) that foretell the imminent arrival of that thing known as Lady Gaga. Sadly, Kylie was ahead of her time with this one, and this release didn't smash. I had hoped that when Kylie & Calvin teamed up again during the Aphrodite era we'd get a bigger hit, but the chaotic dancefloor jam that is "Too Much" was never released as a single. </3

11. "In Your Eyes" from Fever (2001)"In Your Eyes" was the second single from Fever, released worldwide (save for the United States) in early 2002. While the dance-pop number, with its disco and house elements, was a flop in comparison to the massive worldwide phenomenon that was "Can't Get You Out Of My Head", it was a hit in its own right (peaking at #3 in the UK and #1 in Australia). It was released to radio in Canada, as we were a couple months ahead of the States on picking up CGYOOMH (obviously ). I actually remember hearing this on the radio, I loved it then and I still love it today. Also, I remember going shopping with my mom and this department store was playing Fever on a boombox in the cosmetics/jewelry section so naturally I went over to listen, and this song was playing. ^____^ The video is a trippy neon delight, it's so future-as-imagined-in-the-early-2000s, which obviously fit the overall theme of the Fever era well. I actually hadn't seen the video properly until like 2008 cuz up until then, every time I watched it on like Yahoo Music or something, it was blurry as fuck. Lord knows why. ANYWAY, I love this so much, such a jam imo. I want to make it with you ~:) The top ten is coming up next guys!! Featuring three singles from Rhythm Of Love, two from Fever and one each from Kylie Minogue, Impossible Princess, Body Language, Aphrodite and The Abbey Road Sessions. Hmm, I wonder what that last one could be. See you soon xx

10. "Flower" from The Abbey Road Sessions (2012)Yeah hey it's me okay hi. The first entry in my top ten is Kylie's most recent single, "Flower", which appears on The Abbey Road Sessions... although its roots go back much further. Originally written in 2006, when Kylie completed the first phase of her treatment for breast cancer, the song is a (beautiful, touching, incredible, etc.) piano-driven ballad dedicated to a 'distant child'–one which she may never have. Kylie wrote this song after being informed by doctors she may never be able to conceive, and after studio sessions in 2007 with co-writer and frequent collaborator Steve Anderson, the song was submitted for inclusion on her tenth album, X. However, the label execs weren't feeling it for whatever reason and it remained unreleased. </3 "People who have heard the lyrics have asked if I'm feeling broody,'' Minogue said. "They don't realise the story of the song. It's a love letter to the child I may or may not ever have. I was coming out of (cancer) treatment."
"You're told 'We can't determine what your future's going to be, this is what you're up against.' Somehow within me I thought okay, I have to be realistic but I have to be hopeful as well.'' Undeterred, Kylie decided to perform the song on her KylieX2008 tour, and it quickly became a fan favourite. "The little song that could" lived on within the fan community, and obviously with Kylie as well, as it was eventually chosen to be recorded at Abbey Road and released as the lead single for The Abbey Road Sessions. The September K25 fan surprise (Kylie's releasing videos on the 25th of each month to commemorate her 25th year in the recording industry) was the music video for "Flower", directed by Miss Minogue herself. It's pretty good, aside from the excessive use of the fade effect. "Flower" was also released to iTunes with The Abbey Road Sessions pre-order on the same day. <3 I'm so glad that this song had the chance to be properly recorded and released. The whole Abbey Road Sessions project is justified if only for this reason alone. Kylie's voice sounds better than ever, the lush instrumentation is beautiful and the personal lyrical content is a welcome change of pace from the typical Kylie dance track (see: "Timebomb"). This song obviously holds a special place in my heart, and I can definitely relate to the sentiment of the lyrics. While many (if not most) people love Kylie for her light and fun dance-pop (myself included), her more introspective and self-aware recordings are just as wonderful, imo. All things considered, a fantastic way to lead off the next twenty-five years.

09. "What Do I Have To Do" from Rhythm Of Love (1990)The third single from Rhythm Of Love, released in January 1991, is a dance-pop song that sees Kylie exploring more mature themes than she previously had. Written and produced by Stock, Aitken & Waterman, the song is about Kylie wanting to prove her love to a boy who just won't see how much she loves him, wadb. " There ain't a single night where I haven't held you tight, but it's always inside my head, never inside my bed." Oh my WORD so true Slightly tweaked for its single release, the 7" Mix features a literally irresistible thumping beat, I just can't not move & sing lip-sync along to this. You can't tell me I'm not in that video. And while we're on the video, let's just take a moment to appreciate that this was the girl doing "The Locomotion" three years prior. This aesthetic was definitely a step up, Kylie looks slutty stunning and infinitely more interesting, and the press even dubbed her 'SexKylie' upon the release of this steamy video. While this song was a moderate hit in the UK and Australia upon release, it's gone on to become one of her more fondly remembered classics. Case in point: her 2004 performance of "a medley of all her classic tunes", funnily enough all Rhythm Of Love singles. KI. Anyway, let us bask in her holy Christmas glow.

08. "Breathe" from Impossible Princess (1997)
I was finna post this last night but couldn't be bothered oh well. The highest entry from Impossible Princess on this list, "Breathe" is a mid-tempo electronic song, written by Kylie with Dave Ball and Ingo Vauk. Produced by Ball & Vauk, the trip-hop influence is evident, yet the focus remains on Kylie's delivery of the personal lyrics which offer a glimpse into her thought process; Kylie wrote the lyrics while "sitting up in bed in Tokyo," while undergoing some "slight drama." With lyrics like "See through me when I put up a fight" and "I'm frightened but I won't let it show," it seems like Kylie wanted to pull herself out of a stressful relationship.
The music video features Kylie floating around space aimlessly; the basic bitch cousin to "Put Yourself In My Place". And while the song was only a minor hit, it continued Kylie's streak of UK hits, becoming her 26th consecutive top 25 entry. The single was Kylie's last release on indie label Deconstruction.

I'm still not sure which I like better, the radio edit or the album version. They're both so good; I guess it depends on the mood I'm in? Either way it'd still make my top ten too so bow.

Chart Extra: "Falling" from Kylie Minogue (1994)
This house track is one of the standouts on Kylie's indie label debut, Kylie Minogue. Written by the Pet Shop Boys, who later claimed to have been writing with 'SAW Kylie' in mind, and produced by Pete Heller & Terry Farley, the song features hypnotic synths and background harmonies. While the spoken-word verses make little impact, the simple yet striking breathy hook pulls you in: "I'm falling in love... I'm falling in love... I'm falling in love" x300.
While the song could easily be stripped down to an acoustic ballad focusing on the lyrical ode to falling in love, the synths & beat make this a wonderfully dancey jam imo.

07. "Get Outta My Way" from Aphrodite (2010)
The second single from Kylie's eleventh studio album is the kind of irresistible thumping dance jam Kylie's loved around the world for. Written and produced by like thirty people, this is an immaculately crafted piece of dance-pop that seemed destined to become another hit for Kylie in the vein of "What Do I Have To Do", "In Your Eyes" and "Wow". With that literally stunning video (featuring insane light effects & Kylie looking fucking amazing) and a dance-friendly sales & radio climate, it's a wonder this underperformed pretty much everywhere. AGEISM.
Oh well, as long as the music's good who cares about the charts, right? And this song does have those two #1 peaks on the U.S. Dance chart and the Brazilian Pop chart. So we can brag about those, right? Anyway.

06. "Slow" from Body Language (2003)How's this countdown going? " Yeah, slow." HAHA Anyway, just missing the top five is the lead single from Body Language, a sultry downtempo electronic R&B groove aptly titled "Slow". Kylie co-wrote this song with a duo known as Sunnyroads (literally who), who also produced the track. Lyrically, the song is about Kylie taking a romantic interest in a man and inviting him to dance, delivered in the sultriest, most sensual way known to mankind. And then we have that video full of sexy near-nude models writhing around on the floor, with Kylie leading the charge. Ugh Kylie was so hot during this era. She is literally Aphrodite. A tremendous departure from the disco pop of her previous two albums, "Slow" was critically acclaimed as a welcome change from her established style. However, while it did achieve #1 peaks in Australia, the UK and on the U.S. dance chart, the single did not match the 'smash hit' expectations set by the Fever-era releases, mostly due to mainstream audiences' obtuseness re: the new musical direction. Regardless, this has become one of her best-loved hits amongst those who get it, and is Kylie's own personal favourite. If you are so inclined, check out the awesome performance of this song from the 2003 "I want my MTV!" EMAs, the most homoerotic thing you'll ever see from her 2006 Showgirl Homecoming tour, and the sublime Abbey Road Sessions rework. Next: the top five. It should be painfully obvious (to fans) by now which songs will appear. Any guesses as to the order? I have absolutely nothing to offer to anyone who guesses correctly. Thanks and see u soon xx

I remember when Slow was released. I was like, "What kind of 8-bit perfection is this!" Get Outta My Way and this show that she can still mill out those iconic songs and videos. The tragedy of GOMW not being at least a Top 10 hit WW will forever scar me. She is a goddess surrounded by mere mortals in those videos.

05. "Shocked" from Rhythm Of Love (1990)I WAS FUCKED TO MY VERY FOUNDATIONS ~:) The emergence of SexKylie continued with the release of "Shocked", the fourth and final single from Rhythm Of Love in early 1991. This was the first Kylie single released after I was born! The song was both written and produced by Stock, Aitken & Waterman, however the single release used the DNA Mix, which 'completes' the lackluster album version that I prefer to pretend doesn't exist. The result is an epic dance pop classic that also contains an amazing rap from Jazzi P, making "Shocked" Kylie's first (and to date, only) hit single featuring a rapper. Shocked, like the lightning from up above Down from the heavens and it gave me love From a man who respects me Loves my mind as well as my body No retreat and no surrender Equal to you regardless of gender Giving me love that is warm and tender That's why I gotta tell ya You and I are of the same mind It seems to me that we're one of a kind It's true to say that my love is blind But then true love is so hard to find You respect me and the things I do It was meant to be, I was made for you Open the door to my heart, it's stopped And I'm shocked...
rapgenius.com/Kylie-minogue-shocked-dna-remix-lyrics The music video for the song continued Kylie's naughty Parisian lady of the night theme, featuring our gurl Jazzi behind a keyhole. This was obviously the inspiration for putting Khia on the TV screen in the "So Excited" video. And while the song was not quite a smash hit upon its release, it was acclaimed by pop critics and has gone on to become one of her more enduring SAW-era singles. Also see: Kylie punching Dannii downE at Top Of The Pops in 1991, the extended mix featuring more of Queen Jazzi P's lyrical genius (" I'm the fingers, you are the glove," SO true) and her performance of this song as part of a medley from her 2005 Showgirl tour. <3
