Great chorus. ... But LIC should've been the next single. It was a sure-fire hit.

By the way, the album is number 1 on UK again. Last year ended with the domination of Sam, Ed and George Ezra, and this year started the same way.
I suppose he will release Lay me down as single in UK after the Brits

It's 28 in the midweek UK chart. That'll be the peak of the song, it peaked at 46 almost a year ago (when Stay with me was released) but probably it'll end higher because right now there's three versions of the song in the itunes top 100 (19, 38 and 85)

BRIT Awards performance:
Climbs from #88 to #15 following his BRITs performance. As a consequence, it becomes his 7th overall UK Top 40 there.
#1. "La La La" (Naughty Boy featuring Sam Smith) #1. "Money On My Mind" #1. "Stay With Me" #3. "I'm Not the Only One" #9. "Like I Can" #11. "Latch" (Disclosure featuring Sam Smith) #15. "Lay Me Down"

Well it's pretty obvious that selling a million albums is going to stop his singles from being big from now on (Ed Sheeran's Blookstream suffer the same fate and it's at 35 this week). Anyway, he has four singles on top 40 which is really good (SWM at 25, LIC at 27 and INTOO at 31)
The album is number one again, i was reading an article about the huge rise in sales for the Brit performers and i find funny they describe Sam, Ed and George as the holy trinity of british males
This entered on the AC chart a couple of days ago. I got the impression that he will release singles but Stay with me will be his highest charting song on that chart. I'm not the only one is at 5 on that chart but i don't think it will be able to pass SWM. This is now at 61 on itunes, everytime it gets close to top 50 there's new releases pushing it back. With a little luck it will get there once the song rise in airplay

I don't think "Bloodstream" is a good comparison if it's considered that it wasn't officially released there and there's a new version of the track with Rudimental coming out late March.

Anyway, Ed performed it on the Brits, that should be enough to get way higher. If Adele failed to get another top 10 of 21 (in fact she didn't release any other single after Set fire to the rain) i think they have little posibilities to get another unless there's a viral video or streams get very high, but only on sales it will be very difficult. And most Ed's songs of the album were on the top 100 for a good while (Thinking out loud was on the chart since the release of the album). Maybe i'm wrong, because with new rules maybe it's not that difficult, but i will be surprised if they get another top 10 with an album track. If there's a remixed song or significatively changed, that's another story

Anyway, Ed performed it on the Brits, that should be enough to get way higher. That's true, but "Bloodstream" wasn't inside the Top 100 (or Top 200) last week on the UK Singles chart, unlike "Lay Me Down", which was at #88. Both songs got a boost from their respective performances and it also should be considered that "Lay Me Down" is playlisted by BBC Radio 1, while "Bloodstream" isn't. Anyway, my point is that you can't rule "Bloodstream" out four weeks ahead of its standalone release, since it could keep climbing and reach the Top 20 as "Lay Me Down" did.

But in UK the day of release is not that important if people can buy the song before. I'm not the only one was top 10 before the day of release. And i don't doubt Bloodstream will be top 20, Ed is simply too big right now in the UK, what i doubt is the song going top 10, but of course that's my prediction if it is the album track. If it's a remix or something a little different things change a lot

Top 50 on itunes. I think it's the first time since this is an official single (it was top 10 after SNL performance just before SWM was released)

I kept trying to put my finger on what the chorus reminded me of-- Shakespear's Sister's "Stay". Not as immediately obvious as "Stay With Me" and "I Won't Back Down" though.

The verses really hold this back. The chorus is pretty huge, but I can imagine a lot of people switching the station before it even gets to the first chorus.

Sorry but i can't see the comparision anywhere. I was (am) a huge fan of Stay and the choruses have very little in common. Stay is one of the best songs of the 90's, i really love song where lyrics are not what you expect at first listen This is 14 in the meedweek update on the UK's chart

I liked the song when it came out but it burned pretty quickly. "Like I Can" on the other hand is fab.

This is not looking good, very poor updates all week (and tomorrow it will lose the spins of being on AT40 last week), and the sales are stalled too. I don't know if he is going to promote the song, but at least in sales it would benefit a lot of a performance

A new version of the song featuring John Legend is going to be released next week. He is following a quite rare path with his songs, instead of release collaborations, he release his songs but then he make a new version with a featured artist, fist with Mary J Blige, then with ASAP Rocky and now with John. By the way, maybe he didn't get any other mainstream hit after All of me, but John is everywhere lately, he has duets with Common, Meghan Trainor and Kelly Clarkson.

^ What All of Me did for JL was make him a mainstream name so of course that's why a lot of acts are working with him on various projects even if his own solo projects don't match up. Interesting they collaborated on a new version of this... so that makes it the fourth version of this song to be done.
The first was done way back in 2012 and released in 2013. The second version, featured on In the Lonely Hour, was issued in 2014. The third version, the radio single, was re-recorded in 2014. And now this fourth version with John Legend. That song would seem oversaturated since it's been out roughly for two years lol
