^Yeah almost think someone should make a Non-Clear Channel CHR chart lol (or a CHR chart that doesn't count the stations runnin simulcasts)
Just wonderin if massive e-mails to Mediabase might work..I mean tons of stations simulcast programming on more than one frequency, call letter, and geographic area, but their playlists only count once

I still say this won't work, and in the long run, this will just be looked at a kind of "messed up" period in terms of radio (kind of like how we look at the times when payola was legal and influenced the charts greatly).

I was looking at the chart again today. I just keep getting more pissed about this every minute! So many songs were on their way to becoming hits! David Cook, The Veronicas, Jessie James, P!nk, Paula DeAnda, V Factory, The Ting Tings, Kevin Rudolf, etc! It really sickens me.

Oh, AC is in on it too now, but their chart is so inactive that I can't imagine it will have much of an effect.

I really hope this gets straightened out soon, because it sucks that songs like Please Don't Leave Me, That's Not My Name, and Welcome to the World have basically just been stopped when they could've gone on to become hits. This is so, so bad...although I'm assuming in like a week, it'll straighten out a *little* bit since the chart will be adjusted to this BS?

This is extremely sad for anyone out there aspiring to be a DJ. Before long, DJ's won't even exist. How sad. That is sad. DJs make the radio. ClearChannel is the new Big Brother.

I doubt it will happen in Canada. The state of radio up there is a lot more healthy than here in the United States. They don't have the giant radio monopoly that is Clear Channel.

I'm interested to see what happens with the entire chart in lets say 3-4 months if this keeps up. Right now you've got the top 15-20ish doing well and everything else under that point losing spins. I'd love to get some mathematician or something to figure out how ridiculous this is going to be if it keeps up. At this rate something like Poker Face won't go recurrent for a couple years, right LOL?

So the only new song that is on this overnight playlist is Halo? Even though it's had these kind of updates before all of this started it's sustaining them better than others. Does anyone have this playlist? I heard I Do Not Hook Up was on it but it had a sluggish update today as well.

The only way IMO that Halo is benefitting from this syndicated overnight playlist is that nothing is really changing for the song's airplay. It was getting overnight play before, and being on this list means it's just business as usual. It would probably be doing exactly the same thing had there not been any syndicated playlists; it's just that everything else around it that's current is not on this "list" so this is staying relatively normal while the other songs are all getting killed off.

Monday night, it was on in 11PM and 4AM hours.

The thing I really don't like about this, is people are already using it as an excuse for why their favorite song wasn't a hit. Sure, it's really messing things up at the moment, but this alone isn't making or breaking most songs.

Umm, I'm pretty sure it is. If these playlists weren't taken into effect a LOT of these songs would still have bullets and be one their way to become hits. Literally every new songs' bullet shrunk drastically after these playlists were taken into effect. It's killing off every song that's not on the playlist. There's no other explanation. Also, I have a question, does Clear Channel own stations from all radio formats or just Pop stations?

This can definitely make or break songs. It's no coincidence that most songs under the top 20 right now are more or less collapsing.
If this is a success, it really could be the end of CHR as we know it.

Sure, it's really messing things up at the moment, but this alone isn't making or breaking most songs. Second Chance by Shinedown had a +600 bullet before this all started and now it's down to a bullet in the 100s (lots of CC stations were playin Shinedown overnight/weekends/etc. and now they have to play simulcast rhythmic-leaning playlist) Matt Nathanson had a bullet of almost +400, now it's down to just over +200 (same situation) Clear Channel has to know what it's doin...someone over there just doesn't want rock or Hot AC on CHR...they could very well be simulcasting a mainstream CHR playlist, but they chose to simulcast a near-rhythmic one (prob. to please WKSC and all their smaller teen-pop stations) They're also gambling on the fact that listeners to WXKS, WRVQ, WNOK, etc. won't mind the near-rhythmic playlist...WXKS might work cause there's a pretty "hip" Hot AC there, but I can't imagine any Southern CHR in this situation that won't lose ratings Maybe they figure the money they save will more than make up for the dip in ratings

Im PISSED over the Shinedown thing. That was headed for the top 5, after today's update, I dont see it hitting the top 10 at all, I think it's peaked

IDK if it's 100% accurate, but here's a list of songs in the top 40 that, from what I saw looking through the playlist, weren't on it:
Shinedown - Second Chance Miley Cyrus - The Climb Matt Nathanson - Come On Get Higher
Pink - Please Don't Leave Me (added to the playlist on 5/7) Eminem - We Made You Kevin Rudolf - Welcome to the World Katy Perry - Waking Up in Vegas The Ting Tings - That's Not My Name Ciara - Love, Sex, Magic (ft. Justin Timberlake) Fall Out Boy - America's Suitehearts Nickleback - If Today Was Your Last Day Plain White T's - 1, 2, 3, 4 V Factory - Love Struck
This might not be 100% correct though, I just did it quickly looking through the playlists and looking to see what's collapsed on the chart. The last two might not have enough stations yet to really be affected, though.
