When you make your font so stylized I can't read what the f**k it's saying, then you know you've gone too far. Agreed. I don't even remember what the album is called and I can't figure it out. "The __ of _____" is all I get from it. On a side note, I take it you're not big on death metal, are you? P.S. I'll have to re-listen to "A Tendency to Start Fires."

35 views, 30 hours and no one 'round these parts has anything to say about new Mute Math music? Color me surprised.

Bands like Seether and Puddle of Mudd may adopt some superficial elements of the grunge sound, but I feel that Cage The Elephant are the first band in a while to truly capture the spirit of the grunge era (or even the Pixies for that matter). I didn't like this song when I first heard it (mostly due to the "ooh ooh ahh ahh" part), but it's grown on me considerably. I agree with all of this.

Clearly the band was never as cool as I thought they were. I guess you were only in it for the trend. People change, music change, everything changes....maybe you should too. OK, fanboy, you're right. My opinion is in sync with yours now. :)

Ugh. This is so not who I thought the band was way back when Fallen came out. www.mtv.com/news/articles/1668798/evanescence-breaking-dawn-soundtrack.jhtmlVocally gunning for a slot on a Twilight soundtrack, especially after having been passed over previously for not being cool/indie enough? First of all, associating Evanescence and Twilight is too obvious and, because they're not indie rock, too juvenile a career move (in a pre-teen Hot Topic kind of way) for a band with their sound. Second of all, why would you embarrass yourselves by telling everyone you were already passed over before? Clearly the band was never as cool as I thought they were as was evident when I saw them live the week their album dropped and they padded their set with a cover of "Heart-Shaped Box," ("Zero" on subsequent tours) instead of, oh, I don't know, a Siouxsie and the Banshees tune. But come on, guys. You're better than this.

An album cut called "Forsake Not the Dream" is a free download on iTunes this week, for anyone else interested.

This sounds like it came right off of Razorblade Suitcase. Clearly you're the bigger Bush fan, so you'd know better than I would, but to me this sounds more polished, like something that would've come after Steve Albini's ragged production.

^ I'm Devin Osmond. Oh. :) (Didn't remember that Dev(in) was your name. Nor did I have a clue what your last name is, obviously, though knowing that, surely that's what the O is for in your current screen name.)

Two weeks of negative bullets. I'm pissed this won't even come close to matching "Shake Me Down." This should've at least gone Top 10, if not Top 5.

I think the album has a chance of debuting at #1 on BB200. But it really depends on who and how much competition it has on it's opening week. Um, well, for starters there's blink-182. And I wouldn't discount Björk or Mastodon, either. And that's just the stuff I'm interested in.

hmm doesn't really sound like they've grown since their last album. Hopes aren't really too high for their new album, unfortunately. *sigh* Yeah, this song sounds pretty much like I was expecting it to.

Don't bother, man. It's not even worth it. Also: I didn't notice this until I saw your comment again in my reply window, but because I have the occasional spell of immaturity, I totally misread the first two words of your sentence as one word.

What's bulls**t, that it went recurrent? Also, if it went recurrent, then ruh-roh. It's bullshit that it dropped 27 spots in 2 weeks and shed nearly half of its spins last week, plummeting from #30 to (would-be) #49, if it hadn't gotten purged instead. So much for a fourth single. For such a high-quality, progressive album from an A-list band, it's a shame that they already have to roll with the punches and keep moving on instead of racking up some more mileage with it.

Surprisingly good. I wasn't expecting this, after "End to the Lies" was merely decent. I was just thinking the other day how The Great Escape Artist would be a first-week purchase based more on obligation rather than excitement. After hearing this, I'm looking forward to the record a little more now.
Also surprised how it had such a remarkable debut on the Alternative chart.

It feels like this band comes to town every 6 months, always as the first band on the bill. This has been going on for several years.

Their highest charting single was their first one, Push It, at 20. Not to split hairs here, but I distinctly remember "Bled for Days" being on the radio first, then being re-released after "I'm with Stupid."

What a shame. If this were released as a follow-up to "Like It's Her Birthday", it could've got them a minor hit on pop, HAC, and alternative. Oh well. I doubt Alternative, since I assume the only reason "The River" scraped the Top 40 four years ago was because the Avenged guys were on it. Pop these days is more suited to something like "Last Night" from them, which was an admirable attempt to beat Katy Perry's inevitable smash hit to the punch, trying to pre-emptively steal some of her glory with her very similarly-themed song and not look like opportunists by releasing it as a single in her wake. Considering the performance of "Like It's Her Birthday," the Pop audience surely wouldn't be bowled over by a bittersweet follow-up single from Good Charlotte in 2011, especially considering all the references it makes to music from the late '70s. Hot AC might have been their only bet, had this song been released second, and even that wouldn't have been a guarantee.

Maybe that's why they don't play it anymore...it's practically a different band. To be fair, it looks like they have been playing songs from that record this year, back on their headlining tour in the spring. I'm still baffled why they wouldn't throw Volbeat's audience a couple of bones by at least playing "Just Got Wicked" and "No One," if not "End of the World."

I think (at least I hope) they will go down as one of the legendary pop-punk bands. Alternative Press gave them their own "Oral History" feature last year. I don't know, I just don't find them to be relevant and influential enough to have earned that kind of honor, so I thought it was a little undeserved or premature, despite getting credit for inserting breakdowns into pop-punk songs. I certainly respect them, though, for sticking around as lifers in the punk and hardcore scene after their heyday came and went, even though I've never felt compelled to actually buy any of their albums over the years. This new song is alright, but not particularly impressive.

Are you sure you don't mean "Virgin," which premiered yesterday? Because the "Simple Math" video is 4 months old.

No radio adds date here or at Pop that I'm aware of, but they did just roll out a video for this breezy, bittersweet tune. This won't do anything for Cardiology at this point, but I still root for these guys and am very pleased that they're promoting my favorite song on the album. A nice little surprise for me. :)

Nice to hear a good active rock band finding its way onto my Alt station, because you know I get frustrated when they pump generic crap like Pop Evil and Adelitas Way. I said "good," but after listening to more of their discography, maybe I should've said something to the effect of their hearts are in the right place. Who knew my underwhelmed first impression from streaming Guitar Gangsters... once last summer wouldn't budge much after downloading their discography this week, focusing only on the songs that they were all but guaranteed to play live? I was pretty surprised and disappointed when I didn't enjoy Volbeat as much as their influences (Social Distortion, Hank Williams, Metallica, Johnny Cash, Elvis, Misfits, Dusty Springfield, Motorhead, etc.) led me to believe I would. They've got a cool sound, but I just don't find their songs to be particularly memorable. Also: Why is Michael the only greaser in the band? The other three guys look like they could be on loan from Breaking Benjamin, or somebody. (All black clothes, baggy shorts, one backwards cap, etc.) Is it because they're Danish and somehow dressing as a cohesive unit somehow got lost in the translation? Synching up strobe lights to your overused double bass rolls is unintentionally cheesy. I didn't get the impression they were in on the joke, though. Finally, if they don't have any American hits and they opened a leg of the Metallica tour that didn't come through town, why were all the people in attendance so passionate about them?

I'm not a massive Cold fan and never felt compelled to listen to the newest album or A Different Kind Of Pain, but isn't ADKOP pretty damn mellow? As in mellower than what I would presume the new record to be after hearing "Wicked World"? I'll get back to you on this. I downloaded it illegally because time was of the essence and I've since listened to it twice more. "So Long June" was a standout and "American Dream" was, too, but something's odd about it, like it sounds too bright for its content. Is the song in a major key or something? Superfiction isnt as mellow as ADKOP but it is more mellow than the self titled, 13 ways, and year of the spider. That's accurate, but I can't agree or disagree yet about whether the new record is any heavier than ADKOP. Scooter said, before playing it, that "American Dream" will be the next single. That seemed like their best bet when I listened to the album earlier in the day. I'm disappointed they didn't play anything from 13 Ways to Bleed on Stage (obviously, then, they didn't touch the first album, either). Not only that, but instead of playing, oh, I don't know, "Just Got Wicked," they closed with "Snowblind," which was not a cover of the Sabbath classic, but an original leftover, a live version of which was meant to be included as a hidden song on the new record, but apparently isn't. WTF It's like, c'mon, guys, it'd be one thing if this were your own headlining show, but you're a support act. The fans aren't necessarily here to see you, so you'd better play as many of your biggest hits as possible to remind casual listeners who you are and try to convert new fans.
