If she sells anything less than 300K, I'll be a bit disappointed, but here's to hoping it will break that. Still the second biggest sales week of the year so far!

I hope she can manage somewhere between 325k-350k. That would be good.

those are good numbers in today's climate PERIOD. She'll easily go gold within 3 weeks.

Solid opening numbers for Britney. However, I'm not sure if this album is going to sell as well as Circus. I'd say it'd scan just under a million in total unless Britney scores a radio hit with some longevity.

I actually think Britney's numbers are pleasant considering the lead single, in spite of its impressive debut and high chart peaks, has receded quite rapidly out of the public consciousness (seriously, even with the album having bowed it remains bogged down at #51 on the iTunes chart) and the current single holding its own anyway, but nonetheless already showing signs of wear on both the radio and digital fronts.
This is no Pyrrhic victory for her. This is a very decent debut. But that said, the real question is if "Femme Fatale" will even have half the chart longevity of its predecessor "Circus", especially with the common concern that Spears' vocals are most subservient to the production as ever in that she risks falling into an artistic anonymity trap, in spite of the appeal of plenty of the production.
*
I'd argue, if anything, that Wiz Khalifa's opening figures are actually the more underwhelming of the two (which, obviously, are just great for a newcomer almost out of nowhere) in that he's had some time to build his presence on CHR/Rhythmic radio in addition, but having sales figures that don't quite add up to his eyebrow-raising impressive digital figures.
Anyway, if I were either Jive or Atlantic, I'd be quite content today.

Solid opening numbers for Britney. However, I'm not sure if this album is going to sell as well as Circus. I'd say it'd scan just under a million in total unless Britney scores a radio hit with some longevity. The problem is that the primary criticism surrounding Spears' latest is that her voice sounds disengaged from the strength of her material. Considering this is a party album that is most appropriate of the current pop climate, that is bad news. Ke$ha, for instance, may be the recipient of a lot of unfavorable press, but claiming she's without passion is certainly not among it. In fact, many give Ke$ha credit primarily for her audacity and surefire personality, in spite of the fierce criticism her artistic image, voice and lyrics receive. When many seem to echo in agreement that Spears' seems to lack that fire to her voice and artistic personality, that all but certainly bodes grim in terms of bidding for chart longevity. I remember just as "Til The World Ends" bowed how almost everyone shouted that this was going to become one of her next signature classics and a massive pop radio and dance club staple. Now, I hear so many retracting that earlier statement and admitting, "Hmmmm, this already appears to be struggling, perhaps it won't be the scope of hit we had expected." The good news is, she has some surefire album tracks being cited as favorites, if digital sales are of any indication. 25 chart placings separate "I Wanna Go" and "Up n' Down", with the rest of the pack charting well behind. That sure sign of album tracks resonating to listeners is the silver lining here. Comparatively, "Circus" didn't feature quite as pervasive a breakout album track favorite, with "Radar" and "Shattered Glass" performing strongest (though even "Radar" only peaked at #52 on the Digital chart) Namaste, Lisping Hibiscus

I believe that 'Radar' #52 peak was from Blackout's release week. I think Out From Under and Kill the Lights did better than that one during the album release week, going as far as charting on the Bubbling Under Chart.
Longevity will be the key for this album. Circus did almost 1/3 of it's total during the first week, and around 1/2 of it's total during it's first two weeks. I think this one should fare better with longevity but I'm thinking it will end up with 1.1-1.2m.

300K is a solid, good opening.....BUT...when you have Chris Brown opening with similar numbers and Adele with 350K, it does look a little underwhelming considering the hype, two hit singles, and massive radio airplay.
It all depends how this album will hold up, if it only sells a million I would label it as an album that underperformed.

those are good numbers in today's climate PERIOD. She'll easily go gold within 3 weeks. eaisly within for weeks. she could get in it 3 weeks but it depends. lets say she debuts with 300k, the high of the predictions typical 75% decline (picked 75 instead of a number from 65-75 because shes very frontloaded) gives you 100k third week decline will be under 100k most likley but over 50k. 300k + 100K + x<100k = x<500k. to another person i wouldnt consider a platnium album an under performance, id say thats expected.

Well, decent numbers for Britney. I admit I'm quite nervous for the album. Hopefully it'll cross 1M with ease. I believe Circus sold 1.5M in just 3 months. If she does get this #1, I'm more than glad that she's in one of elite groups with Madonna, Mariah, Janet Jackson and Barbara, and none among her peers are even close to that yet. Does she even have a chance at hitting #1 for a second week. I know it's a little early to ask, but is there an upcoming release that's likely to top next next week's chart? judging from wiki there isnt really any strong releases next week, so id say her main competition will be wiz and adele

I read it's going to be her first #1 album in AUS. Sucks she still hasn't gotten that #1 album in the UK, even in her prime

I personally think the Album will struggle to reach 1million Agreed. Yeah. I think this is gonna have kind of an AIEW type of run and end up just below a million. If the rumours of six single releases is true, then the album will likely scan past a million sooner or later.

Obviously the 270-290K figure is just an April Fool's day joke by HDD. It's gonna cross 400K and be platinum in 3 weeks time
