Foo Fighters and Alison Krauss supposedly are out this week, and Alison Krauss. FF opened with 169K last time, but may not get that high this time. Krauss' last one opened with 112K. Figure Spears' sales will drop to at least 110K (that's on a 60% drop or so)- percentage drop may be larger.

Who releases next week? I'm almost certain Britney can spend another week @ #1. Yeah no major acts releasing next week. The number one will be between Britney & Adele I would guess. Next week will be interesting to see if anyone else approaches 100K or if Britney's drop puts her in danger of being picked off.

Britney Spears, Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey - 6 Its a crime that BB changed that exclusive retailer policy right when Blackout got released. They literally stole that #1 debut from her :'( It still hurts til this day, and she would now be tied for second place.

Whoops- that is right, xCerbi. For some reason, I was off on my dates. :)
Timing plays a very large role in the charts- one week you can have a No. 1 album sell 100K, another week, 500K. And look at all the No. 2 albums that sell a lot more in their debut week than some albums that peaked at No. 1. It just so happened that the Eagles released its album in the same week as Blackout. had the Eagles releases its album the week prior or the week after, Billboard still would have changed therule if the album sold as much as it did. No "stealing" anything.

No "stealing" anything. Yeah, but Jive probably went into it thinking they didn't have to worry about how much the Eagle's sold because they werent eligible to chart on the BB200 anyways. Their timing was actually right, since everyone thought she would debut at #1. Then BB throws a curve ball and freakin changes the rule midweek? It was ridiculous

^Are you not counting "Cannibal"? Like we've said before, the charts is a game, and sometimes the rules change- gotta be prepared for that.

^Exactly. Plus, it was Wal-Mart that spurred the change. Wal-Mart all of a sudden said it would release the sales information, whereas in the past it had not done so with exclusive titles. That was reason enough for Billboard to change the rules at that precise time.

I just think if your gonna change a rule, it probably shouldn't be in the middle of the freakin week. Jive would have def. pushed the album forward/back had they known BB was going to change the policy.

Glee is doing Adele this week. I could see her & Britney going head to head for next week. Assuming there's no big releases. I see Britney getting a 70% drop and Adele getting a boost.

And I dont care what any one says 275 is dispointment for an artist like Britney. Hopefully her label and her get it together for the next go round. The formula obviously isnt working

Studio album percentages: Barbra Streisand - 21% Madonna - 63% Britney - 85% Janet - 60% Mariah - 46% TY that's what I wanted to know Streisand has so many #1s cause she's thrown about 1,423 albums at the Billboard 200. Flooding the charts is bound to get you a #1. Get them smashes Britney! ...though having a No.1 really means nothing for long term sales...

Barbra's peak was in the 60s - a much different chart era. She was the first female to score a #1 album during the reign of the Beatles. She scored her last #1 album in 2009. Her fifth decade in the business.

^We know, but that doesn't change the fact that she has release far more albums because of that. During those times artist would even release two albums per year.

Beyonce is a 100% for a solo artist(3 for 3) and a 4th one if pretty much assured :)
Nice opening for Britney. A little disapointing seeing that HIAM and TTWE are hits and it's "BRITNEY FRIGGIN SPEARS" but it's still solid and a very good opening this day and age. I do wonder where Bey will opening with(I'm hoping for atleast 300k).
Nice gain for Katy aswell :)

It's not a bad opening, but for Britney Spears not crossing 300k with 2 hits is somewhat disappointing imo. And to sell less than her "flop" album? idk..

If I gave you the impression that I had even an inkling of care for Streisand, I apologize. Was just pointing out that the majority of Brit's albums hit #1, while the majority of Streisand failed to hit #1.

Yes, but even so she only had 1 #1 album in the 60s (4 that peaked at #2 though) It was the 80s onwards where she's had the majority of her #1s (5 of em).
