Did Amy Winehouse even send any songs for adds after "Rehab"? I remember she sent "You Know I'm No Good" before. "Tears Dry on their Own" was sent to Urban AC (where it did very little), and that was it.

^ I know, but it's really a no brainer.... Adele WILL have the #1 album. She continues to sell 100,000+ for weeks and weeks, plus I bet she will be a strong Holiday seller. Going to be an awfully blah 6 and a half months then, with nothing being released during the summer, fall or holidays that will strike a chord with consumers. In the past, albums released during the holidays have been known to hit 3 million in a little over a month

2m can you point out which upcoming release you think will surpass 3 million before the years end?

I am saying, with the year not even half over, there is quite a bit of music left to be released that could be as big or bigger than Adele. Calling it a lock now, is more of a prediction than a fact

2m can you point out which upcoming release you think will surpass 3 million before the years end? It is difficult to predict. The last few years there have been some RANDOM massive sellers that no one predicted. Sometimes, you just have no idea what is going to strike a chord unexpectedly. What 2m is saying is not wrong in any way. I happen to think Adele will get the #1 album because I do think she will sell well during the holidays, but I also think we will have at least one random HOLY HELL album that sells way more than anyone would have predicted and possibly shifts over 2 million in a month or so.

I actually agree with 2m. We could still have another contender. I think Adele will be #1 though, but it's not a fact yet. Anything can happen. Her label could fuck up the next few singles and her album could plummet down the charts.

I think "21" will be #1 too by the end of the year but yeah it's not right to say it's a lock already. Some album could still surprise ala "Noel" a few years back so it's better that we manage our expectations

It's dumb to argue over a prediction that Adele will or won't have the best selling album of the year. 2m is absolutely right to suggest that something *could* come out of the blue. Shame on people for getting mad at him for that. It's a realistic thought.
Also, I think Amy Winehouse is definitely capable of another hit record. Maybe not a hit song in the vain of Rehab but I think the interest and fascination is there that she could have a decent selling record again. If there's a good single, that too. She's far from a flop...well, with the stuff she's recorded. She's a flop in the sense that she can't commit to recording an f'in album!!!!

things can change, but it looks like ADELE has a pretty good shot at #1. Hopefully Gaga can sell more than 100,000.

Now THIS is interesting:
LATTER-DAY CHAMP: According to Sony, The Book of Mormon is on the way to becoming the first Broadway cast recording to break into the Top 10 since 1969 (when Hair was #1 for 13 weeks). In 1996, Rent peaked at #19 and, prior to that, Dreamgirls reached #11 in 1982. Going back to 1955, this is only the 37th Broadway cast album to reach the Top 20. So it appears that The Book of Mormon will be the highest-charting Cast Album in 42 years. The release got a big boost from Amazon MP3, which has it as the Daily Deal at $1.99. Amazon went the whole nine yards with the promo, advertising it last night during the Tony Awards telecast. By the way, the record is hilarious. (6/13p)

I love Book of Mormon! So glad they won last night. Didn't know about the soundtrack deal either. Just bought my copy. Can't go wrong for that price!

With the year not even half over. A bit early to declare number one secure Just seems like 21 is going to fly to/past 3.5m - not many albums in late 2011 will be able to even test those numbers. SuBo may release something but odds are, Taylor won't..and SuBo didn't crack 2m, if I recall by year-end '10. Gaga already released. Beyonce isn't looking too strong so far. I don't think Coldplay has the horsepower. TC3 took a LONG time to get to 3.5m so I doubt TC4 can get there, especially if it keeps getting delayed. Also, I said 'probably'. In other words, it's my prediction that Adele will have 2011's best-selling album.

For all we know, another reality show contestant could breakout this year. Someone that no one expected.

I wonder if we'll be talking about Adele 3 years from now or she'll disappear like Leona Lewis. UK artists tend to have that effect in the US. I like Adele personally so I don't mind her being around :)

Leona had a massive hit but otherwise, at least in the US, she seemed kinda bound for one-hit-wonderdom.

Plus, unlike Lewis, this isn't Adele's debut album. As long as she doesn't disappear a la Amy Winehouse, she may maintain decent success.

Adele has also toured very well in the US. She's the biggest act from the UK to make it here since the Spice Girls.
