Chart Notes: - Probably no shocker here - Adele nabs her 7th #1 on the chart, tying her with Lady Gaga. Only Beyonce (counting two Destiny's Child #1s) and Eminem have had more #1 peaks. It took her only two weeks to get to #1, the fastest rise since Gaga debuted at #1 with Born This Way. With the 21 album, Adele had a song in my top three for 68 straight weeks!
- Ariana Grande makes an impressive debut at #8 with Focus, though it's not her highest - both "Problem" and "Santa Tell Me" debuted at #3
- Gwen Stefani has this week's biggest move to jump into the top ten. She debuted at #10 exactly a year ago this week with "Baby Don't Lie." That song took only two more weeks to get to #1.
 2012! As you can see Adele had to take a backseat to a Halloween song that year too. Vampire was coasting on leftover Halloween goodwill to get a 2nd week at #1. But the bigger story was the songs below it. Adele had just completed the run of her 2nd #1, and would end up as the #4 for the entire year. Just below that, and ready to move to #1 the following week was Dedication to My Ex, the only song in the year end top 4, not by Adele. It finished at #2 for the year, behind Rolling in the Deep. Meanwhile, Titanium, which would peak at #3, but linger around the top 5 for months, would finish #8 for the year. Vampire didn't make the top 20.  |

Chart Notes: - Years & Years gets its 4th top ten this week, after having two songs go to number #1 this summer and a third peaking at #3.
- THe title "Hello" has been on the chart before, but Adele's is the highest peaking. Martin Solveig and Dragonette took their Hello to #2 back in 2011. The act that kept them from being the first Hello to #1? Adele herself, who was topping the chart that summer with Set Fire to the Rain.
- Oops, I bolded the Fifth Harmony song
Skyfall and Hello are the highest debuting songs of Adele's chart history on this chart, but unlike Hello, Skyfall never made it to number one. It actually had debuted a couple weeks earlier at #2, and happened to rebound this week three years ago for a final chart week in the runner-up spot. ZZ Ward's song ended up being the #2 song for 2012. |

The Hills is top 3, Focus is top 5, OMM still climbs, Hotline Bling is top 15, and Sam Hunt debuts twice as high over here. Nice chart. |

Chart Notes: - It's a 3rd week at #1 for Adele, which means that she nabs her 30th week at #1 overall at the top of my chart. Only Eminem has passed 30 weeks. See more on him in the retro chart.
- It's a second dance in the top 10 for Nick Jonas this year, when "Jealous" peaked at #4 in January
- Drake moves into the top ten for the third time following a #1 stint as part of "Truffle Butter," and a peak at #5 in March with "Energy." See more of him on the retro chart.
2 years ago, Eminem got his 9th #1, extending his record on the chart. Eminem also has the most total weeks at #1 - this would be his 40th week at the top. Kelly Clarkson would interrupt his streak for one week before he'd reclaim it one last time in December. Drake had just peaked with his highest peaking solo hit "Hold On, We're COming Home." It had just missed finishing in the top 10 for the year along with Kelly. Drake would finish 12th and Kelly would finish 11th, the second best year-end showing for a Christmas song ever. |
