Chart Notes:- Coldplay extends their #1 reign to 7 weeks, which is longer than their last three #1s combined. The longest they had ever been #1 prior was 3 weeks for "Lost!" and "Christmas Lights". This is the 20th song to hit 7 weeks at #1 since the chart started in 1997; 8 of which have been by groups. The last group to spend 7 weeks at #1 was "Change" by Churchill in the spring of 2012. The record for most weeks at #1 by a group is jointly held by Limp Bizkit's "Nookie" ( ) and STP's "Down," which both hit #1 for 9 weeks in the final trimester of 1999. (Songs in general spent longer back then. I was in middle school. ) Overall, Coldplay has now spent 19 weeks at #1 (which puts them in 7th place for most total weeks).
- Formation narrowly gets edged out this week, but has a strong shot to take Coldplay down next week. Some white people have no problem that she's black now. ;)
- Two debuts this week. Troye makes his first (and long overdue) appearance at #19, and Gwen makes her 12th solo credited appearance (and 17th overall) at #20.

2013's chart this week was an extremely strong one. The songs that would finish for the year in 3rd (Thrift Shop), 4th (That Girl), and 5th (Stars) place were present. For the latter two, they would have finished even higher if their chart presence in December 2012 had been added. Of these songs, they one that probably still gets the most recurrent play is the one right at #1 - the Noisettes - probably my most missed group - how I wish they would record again. Unfortunately, their 2012 album flopped in the UK, and the duo has broken up. :'( Pop's Retro Chart - This week in 2013 | LW

Chart Notes:- Beyonce makes a quick climb to #1 in just three weeks. That's one of the fastest climbs to #1 in the past five years topped by Adele's Hello (2 weeks to #1), Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You" and Gaga's "Born This Way" (both #1 debuts). Uptown Funk also moved to #1 within three weeks in November of 2014. This is Beyonce's 7th #1 as a solo credit artist, and 9th overall counting 2 Destiny's Child #1s. Only Eminem has equalled 9 appearances at #1s on this chart.
- Looks like this will be the final week in the chart for In the Night, meaning next week will be the first chart without the Weeknd in nearly 10 months.
- When We Were Young becomes Adele's 9th song to make the top two. All of the others went on to hit #1, with the exception of Skyfall.

Aloe Blacc dominated the beginning of 2014 and I thought he would for sure figure into the year-end top five, but as it turned out, Drunk In Love ended up being the most powerful of this top five, finishing for the year at #4. Katy never quite made it to #1 with Dark Horse, but this ended up being her 11th top ten. Katy managed to have at least one top ten every year between 2008 and 2014. As for Lily, she managed to have three songs hit the top 2 in the first two months of 2014. "Hard Out Here" finished #3 for the year. Pop's Retro Chart - This week in 2014 | LW

Chart Notes:- Happy Leap Day! Formation is one of just three #1 songs in which Beyonce has sole credit. "Irreplaceable" and "Listen" are the others.
- It appears that this will be Daya's final week in the chart. She becomes the first person to chart on my list who is actually younger than the chart itself. The #1 song on my chart the week she was born (Oct. 24, 1998) was "The Rockafeller Skank" by Fatboy Slim, in its 7th of 11 weeks at #1.
- Looks like Mike Posner won't be a one hit wonder after all on my chart. Cooler than Me hit #2 in the summer of 2010, the same week I made my only trip to josh 's home state of Ohio.

For the retro chart this year, I thought I'd list all the songs that have been #1 on leap day in my chart. Looks like it was mostly obscure songs until 2012, when Gotye moved to #1 after 6 weeks in the top 3 (he'd end up having the #1 year-end song). I was only 12 when Underworld hit #1, which shows how flawless my taste was even then :'( Pop's Retro Chart - Leap Day #1s | Year

Chart Notes:- Beyonce spends a third week at #1, which is surprisingly, her 2nd longest run at the top. Only Crazy In Love at 6 weeks is longer.
- March Madness in the games section is in full swing and you should check it out and vote on songs. This chart should see some debuts resulting from March Madness next week.
- Troye Sivan enters the top 10 for the first time with "Youth".
