The biggest problem here is if anyone who doesn't care for the same music as the majority who post here, people get offended. I did say the wrong things about Rihanna and Fetty, but I was tired of seeing people jump all over others who have anything negative to say about their songs. Their is no freedom of speech here unless it's agreeing with what you like.

I would like to know how many have actually listened to current country music here. You can't go by what you read on the internet saying it's panned by all these women. When they take surveys , it's usually from a few hundred people if even that many. There are billions of people worldwide so 200 womens opinions don't make a dent. But read the lyrics of Die a happy man by Thomas Rhett or Humble and kind from Tim McGraw before you make judgements.

What does my screen name have to do with anything. People on here love to start s**t. Yet when someone else doesn't like the same as they do they cry and report it. Can we talk again about how Rihanna is a beat up bitch?

Seriously, America, let these two go already. We're sick of them. Obviously not if they're the ones getting hits. That's what I was thinking too, lol

I already said I was wrong with the Rihanna comment yet you wanna hold on to that. Now on with chart stuff. Hope to see more James Bay, Troye Sivan and Lukas Graham in the future.

Anyone know why the most popular Voice finale performance can suddenly only muster a #73 debut when they've been going top 40 for the past few seasons? Not that I'm complaining. [and as someone who lurks more than posts (and usually watches these arguments from the sidelines like ), I don't mind people voicing their off-the-cuff opinions on the actual music, but when it's something as broad as "music today sucks!" on a forum focusing on contemporary music charts among people who are heavily invested in current music, it's just......truly, what's the point?]

just from a quick look at the ratings from wikipedia, apparently the voice is getting slightly lower ratings at time goes on? idk
it's probably more just that digital sales are getting lower tbh

Anyone know why the most popular Voice finale performance can suddenly only muster a #73 debut when they've been going top 40 for the past few seasons? Not that I'm complaining. Regarding Voice, one of the factors in interest is whether the mainstream press finds a reason to care enough to fight against the general waning sales and interest. The season that Josh Kaufman won, no one really did and nothing cracked the zone. The next season, where they introduced music videos for finalists, got press hype and more streams, allowing for two top 40s. Some residual interest gave Sawyer Fredericks a top 40 in the next season but overall track performance was notably lower. Jordan Smith got big press from the start and got boatloads of attention along with multiple top 40s, but it was clearly the exception proving the rule, as no other contestant even got close. With this season, nothing was all that noteworthy from anyone, so no one got a track in the zone and barely anything hit the Hot 100 at all.

Only one close is Cassaddee Pope and she barely makes a dent. Too bad too cause she is ridiculously talented. Its ridiculous that labels don't throw tons of marketing to Voice and AI finalists. Makes no sense to me how there aren't more / bigger stars from those shows.

Her album has sold a little more than cassadees did but she's still waiting to have a single breakthrough

* Some pretty tight battles this week, beginning with Panda and CSTF for #2. Panda has now started declining in streaming in earnest (while CSTF also keeps declining, albeit at a lower pace). * Next battle is between WFH and DLMD for the #4 spot. For the past two weeks, the two songs have virtually tied in points, with WFH *barely* coming ahead. * Last but not the least, is the battle for #10 spot between the three divas..... I won't be surprised if Work manages to hold on for one more week, making it three songs in the Top-10 for Rihanna, as TIWYCF will also be returning to Top-10.

But to deny its popularity and resonance is pretty much a straight up lie. Streaming is a great direct measure, but while it's still increasing, in general it still represents a certain demo or two more than it represents the general population.

All metrics represent a certain demo though. But airplay tends to represent more the "general public" than streaming, doesn't it? Ask a random person on the street and they'll probably be aware of the song that was getting 200 million in airplay, but they might not be aware of the #1 streaming song, which 10 million teenagers played on their cell phones.

All metrics represent a certain demo though. Which is why Billboard uses three different metrics. I never said otherwise.

Nothing represents the general public We should get everyone in the country to make a personal chart and submit them to Billboard. That'd be the most representative.

Nothing represents the general public We should get everyone in the country to make a personal chart and submit them to Billboard. That'd be the most representative. In Soviet Russia, chart personalizes you. High airplay does indeed reach more people, which is why a song getting 200m AI gets more chart points from that that a song getting 10 million streams will from just that factor. For the record, the airplay audience is based on a preset calculation on how much a spin on that station is expected to get, so even with that, streaming in itself is the most accurate of what is actually being listened to.

Am I the only one who finds "The Voice" vomiting a bunch of one-week-wonders onto the charts every 6 months or so one of the most annoying aspects of the Hot 100? I'm personally kind of glad they aren't charting as high this season.
I also feel a little bad for the contestants that win. I mean, they should know by now that that show is never going to produce an artist like Carrie Underwood or Kelly Clarkson. So the best possible outcome for them is releasing a few songs (mostly covers) that are bought for one week each, and then going back to being normal every day people for the rest of their lives.
"Do you know who you're talking to? I'm Sawyer Fredericks! I have more songs on the Hot 100 than Jimi Hendricks!"
"Yeah, well, your rent was due a month ago Mr. Fredricks. Pack your things and get out or I'm calling the cops."

Nothing represents the general public "General Public" - LOL, one of my more favorite Pulse terms, I put it right up there next to "One Hit Wonder"
