CMA ANNOUNCES "FOREVER COUNTRY" SINGLE AND MUSIC VIDEO IN HONOR OF THE 50TH ANNUAL CMA AWARDS
Historic Single is a Reimagining of Country Classics by Three Former Entertainer of the Year Winners; Video Features 30 CMA Award-Winning Acts
NASHVILLE β In celebration of βThe 50th Annual CMA Awards,β CMA has created the biggest music video in Country Music history. Titled βForever Country,β the single and accompanying music video features 30 CMA Award-winning acts. This single was produced by CMA Board member and CMA Award winner Shane McAnally and the video was directed by Grammy Award-winning director Joseph Kahn.
The music video is set to an intricate medley of John Denverβs βTake Me Home, Country Roads,β Willie Nelsonβs βOn the Road Again,β and Dolly Partonβs βI Will Always Love You.β All are former CMA Entertainers of the Year.
In another historic move, the single will be unveiled to the public Friday, Sept. 16 in a global roadblock across Country radio, premiering on hundreds of radio stations simultaneously at 8:30 AM/ET across the U.S., in addition to premiering in key international markets. But fans will have to wait a few more days to see the full length music video; the video will make its worldwide premiere on Tuesday, Sept. 20.
For the past week fans have been buzzing across social media platforms trying to guess what the βForever Countryβ project might be as the 30 acts featured in the video have been posting mysterious teasers created by CMA tagged with #ForeverCountry and driving fans to the website ForeverCountry50.com to see all of the artist teasers as they are released. Social teasers will continue to roll out this week until CMA announces the full list of participating artists.
ββForever Countryβ is a moving tribute to Country Music, Country Music fans, and the artists who have built this format into what it is today,β said Sarah Trahern, CMA Chief Executive Officer. βThis music video is the product of the CMA Board of Directors who came together in support of this project as a celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the CMA Awards, a statement on the heritage and future of the Country Music industry, and a reflection of this yearβs Awards theme β βThen. Now. Forever Country.ββ
βThe 50th Annual CMA Awardsβ will be hosted by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood and broadcast live from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Wednesday, Nov. 2 (8:00-11:00 PM/ET) on the ABC Television Network.
For more information on βForever Countryβ visit ForeverCountry50.com.

So, does this new song incorporate those old classics? Or are they releasing new versions of those old classics as well?

I'm crossing my fingers super tight for Martina to end up on "I Will Always Love You"... That's seriously an epic female lineup so far, and she's about the only ingredient missing!!! Hahaha and then there's Charley Pride... Other than that, Willie needs a lot more people to even his song out, so the rest will probably go to him. Unless Dolly snags Miranda as well, thereby making Charley even more out of place ;)

Who invited Brett though? Such an impressive list of accomplished artists... And then Brett. He sounds great, nevertheless, but just seemingly out of place.

Jason Aldean - "On the Road Again" Vince Gill - "I Will Always Love You"
Love VG, love his timeless efforts with IWALY, and love his voice...but I'm annoyed that Pride and him are both on it after they made it seem like it was going to be a strong all-female casting.

I am glad to read that even the artists themselves were sceptical about this mash-up idea. Brad, you better not lie to me that this works!

How in the world did Brett Eldredge make the cut? No offense to Brett but he really sticks out like a sore thumb amongst those other artists. I also can't help but wonder why Garth Brooks and Kenny Chesney aren't involved in this.

King George is doing "Take Me Home, Country Roads!"
I'm thrilled that George is taking part in that song since it was one of my first country songs I heard growing up and fell in love with.

He might not be that accomplished now, but give him a few years and he will be! Brett is on the CMA Board. BRETT ELDREDGE, A CMA BOARD MEMBER, TALKS ABOUT THE IDEA OF "FOREVER COUNTRY." Brett Eldredge (Forever Country) OC: β¦singing it. :35 βBeing on the CMA board has been a life changer for me because CMA just carries so much weight to one of these awards, or everything that they do. They do so many amazing things, and to be a part of the board I got to hear the ideas that maybe they could put this together where they put these classic, iconic songs and iconic artists and put it all together and have, you know, a bunch of artists get together and sing these songs that kind of shaped our genre, and I thought that was the coolest idea in the world and I get to be a decision maker on the fact of pushing this through and saying letβs do it. I think everybody just loved the idea, and I was glad to be a part of getting it here. And now I get to be a part of singing it.β BRETT ELDREDGE TALKS ABOUT SINGING PART OF βON THE ROAD AGAINβ AS PART OF βFOREVER COUNTRY.β Brett Eldredge (On the Road Again) OC: β¦Road Again. : ββOn The Road Againβ I got to sing a couple parts on that and with some amazing singers, so Iβm like okay go in hereβ¦Iβm so nervous kind of, because these are some of the best people that have ever sang in this genre and in music and Iβm going to sing along with them. Iβve got to step my game up! So, I showed up and Shane McAnally was producing it, and heβs a buddy of mine. Weβve written songs together and stuff. So I went and there and just said you know what, thereβs a reason Iβm here. I got to be here. Iβm going to go show them what Iβve got, and I got to sing βOn The Road Againβ and picture myself rolling down the highway with Willie Nelson in a bus βcause thatβs like where he lives. He will do that till the day he dies. He loves it. Thatβs in his blood, and I feel like Iβm the same way. I will never lose that road life out of me and that feeling I get when I go out on stage or when Iβm singing these lines, Iβm riding right down on the highway with Willie Nelson singing βOn The Road Again.β pressroom.umgnashville.com/

This should be on iTunes soon, it's out in Asia and Europe. I listened to the iTunes clip and it sounds very nice... It works, somehow... I'm very anxious to hear the full thing!

Brett also won the New Artist of the Year in 2014, and this song is about country music "then, now, and forever" so I'm not surprised he's on here - as much as I love Kacey, I think she's in the boat of "maybe she's too new to be thrown in with these legends and big stars of today" but Kacey and Brett have both showed they are capable of being as big as some of these stars one day so I like that they included some promising newcomers in this too.

Beautifully done mash-up indeed. I love it. It's so great hearing so many different artists on one song together and being able to pick them out is fun. I think Dolly Parton ending the song is perhaps the best highlight, too. <3
At first I was wondering how they'd fit that many artists into one 4-minute song, but somehow the song manages to feel like it's like 7 minutes long even though it isn't, lol.

Really enjoyed listening to that! I was a little confused myself how that was all going to come together but it all flowed together nicely. I'm obviously biased but dang when George Strait sang his few parts I got the chills...he's still got it. Everyone sounded great together (Faith Hill, Reba, Wiliie Nelson, Alan Jackson, Kacey Musgraves and Dolly Parton stood out above the rest for myself).

Just listened to it now and absolutely LOVED IT! I even got a bit emotional :|
It worked SO WELL, especially because this kind of things always have the potential to end up a mess. Here it all feel perfectly in place for me (production, performances, songs...)
When Kacey starts singing I Will Always Love You in the middle of Country Road Take Me Home... man, it just gave me chills! Dolly ending it, as some other posters mentioned was really perfect.

Easily the biggest and best collaboration in all of country music. So amazing to see all these icons and superstars take part. I feel like there's only a few names missing (Kenny, Garth, Chris Stapleton, Loretta).. But overall, this mashup is amazing!!!

Too bad Dixie Chicks are shunned from the industry - just saw them live and they are true Country Icons. Unless I'm mistaken, I'm glad there was no Toby Keith to be found.
