If anyone sees Lil Nas X's numbers this week as a disappointment has a miserable life.

Just to clarify, I think his numbers are great and having 3 songs in the top 10 is colossal. I was just a bit annoyed that Stay was number 1.

Having 3 songs in the top 10 is a huge deal (and I'm not talking down on his numbers, so please don't take my head off) but context is important. Industry Baby was already in the top 10 at #6 and rose to #2. Montero was #13 and rose to #9. Both songs are in the top 10 on radio and that helped with their stability. Thats What I Want debuted at #10 (which, for me, is the most impressive performance out of the 3 songs he has in the top 10 this week but that's by the way).
I think it's silly to suggest people can't still think his album's numbers were somewhat underwhelming, if only because of the amount of promo/exposure and the fact that it had two massive hits before it dropped. Yes, we only got introduced to Lil Nas X 2 years ago but Old Town Road is one of the biggest hits of all time and he scored another hit with Panini that same year. He disappeared for a bit and returned in full strength with Montero and Industry Baby this year, killing off any/all talks of him being a one-hit wonder. Yes, Montero is his debut album but it's his second project. WWAFA, WDWG was Billie's debut album/second project as well and that didn't stop it from doing damage. SOUR is Olivia's first project ever and most of us didn't even know she existed 10 months ago and it was a massive success. (Comparisons suck, yes, I know but) people can't keep bringing up him being a black, gay man as a reason why his album didn't smash more upon release and then on the other hand, brag about his hits. His album had amazing reviews from critics and casual listeners and it was the major release of the week. Being gay (thankfully) has done absolutely nothing to slow down his momentum and it hasn't stopped him from scoring massive hits.
Personally, I thought the album only managing 147M U.S. streams in it's debut week was underwhelming (for context, SOUR pulled 148M U.S. streams in it's 4th week with 4 fewer tracks) and I only think so because in the last 2 years, he has proven he can pull massive streams.
Still, like with Planet Her, I will judge the success of his album from the longevity it serves and not it's peak but I just wanted to lay all of that down to offer some context. Congrats to Lil Nas X on a truly eventful week on the charts!

I'm ready for the top 10 to have a big shift cause it feels like half of these songs have still been here forever, but I can't complain too much cause this is still a very solid top 10

Congratulations for the #10 position ..at least it wasn't blocked like the awful #11 position for billie Eilish's happier than ever..but it will fall next week and I don't know if it will return back in top 10 again..I wonder if lil nas will promote the era more or he is done with the era (he didn't really care about it since the release of industry baby)..SCOOP is the only single -choice left (if he release another single in the future).. but maybe it's another era who is already dead on the week of the album release ..

Other debuts this week: #71 On My Side - YoungBoy Never Broke Again #80 Love Nwantiti (Ah Ah Ah) - CKay #98 Same Boat - Zac Brown Band
That second one is notable for its global virality - it's already #8 on the Global 200 and #3 in the UK. I'd expect it to have some staying power into 2022.

Agreed, I would have rather LNX be blocked by FL or a Drake song. The fact it was blocked by another long-running #1 from the same label, especially after the Butter fiasco, makes this result less than satisfying.

The Kid LAROI & Justin Bieber's 'Stay' Scores Sixth Week at No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100 By Gary Trust 9/27/2021 The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber's "Stay" notches a sixth week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart. Plus, Lil Nas X and Jack Harlow's "Industry Baby" returns to its No. 2 Hot 100 high, from No. 6, as Lil Nas X's parent LP Montero bounds in at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. Additionally, two other songs from the set rank in the Hot 100's top 10: former No. 1 "Montero (Call Me by Your Name)," which returns to the region at No. 9, from No. 13, and "Thats What I Want," a debut at No. 10. The Hot 100 blends all-genre U.S. streaming (official audio and official video), radio airplay, and sales data. All charts (dated Oct. 2) will update on Billboard.com Tuesday (Sept. 28). For all chart news, you can follow billboard and billboardcharts on both Twitter and Instagram. "Stay," released on Raymond Braun/Columbia Records/Def Jam, drew 81.3 million radio airplay audience impressions (up 6%) and 26.7 million U.S. streams (down 2%) and sold 10,800 downloads (down 14%) in the week ending Sept. 23, according to MRC Data. "Stay" adds a second week at No. 1 on the Radio Songs chart; dips 3-4 on Streaming Songs, where it has spent six weeks on top; and holds at No. 4 on Digital Song Sales, after reaching No. 3. Meanwhile, as "Stay" tops the Hot 100 for its sixth week, it ties for the third-longest command for a song by two or more co-billed solo male leads over the chart's 63-year history. Here's an updated leaderboard of such No. 1s to reign for at least three weeks (and which excludes duos or groups known for regularly recording together, such as Daryl Hall & John Oates or Macklemore & Ryan Lewis; notably, Bieber and Paul McCartney each factor into two of the top four titles): 16 weeks at No. 1, "Despacito," Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee (feat. Justin Bieber), beginning May 27, 2017 7 weeks at No. 1, "Ebony and Ivory," Paul McCartney & Stevie Wonder, beginning May 15, 1982 6 weeks at No. 1, "Stay," The Kid LAROI & Justin Bieber, beginning Aug. 14, 2021 6 weeks at No. 1, "Say Say Say," Paul McCartney & Michael Jackson, beginning Dec. 10, 1983 4 weeks at No. 1, "Shake Ya Tailfeather," Nelly, P. Diddy & Murphy Lee, beginning Sept. 6, 2003 3 weeks at No. 1, "All for Love," Bryan Adams/Rod Stewart/Sting, beginning Jan. 22, 1994 Lil Nas X and Jack Harlow's "Industry Baby" rebounds to its No. 2 best on the Hot 100, from No. 6. The song is from Lil Nas X's new album Montero, which launches at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 with 126,000 equivalent album units. "Baby," which debuted at No. 2 on the Hot 100 dated Aug. 7, likewise jumps 6-2 on Streaming Songs, up 35% to 29.2 million streams, its second-best streaming week (after it opened with 40.6 million). "Baby" also charges into the top 10 on Radio Songs (12-6; 46.7 million, up 19%), becoming Lil Nas X's third top 10 on the tally, after his breakthrough smash "Old Town Road," featuring Billy Ray Cyrus (No. 2, June 2019), and previous Montero single, "Montero (Call Me by Your Name)" (No. 3, this July). Harlow reaches the Radio Songs top 10 for the first time. Plus, "Baby" returns for a fifth week atop both the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs charts, which use the same multi-metric methodology as the Hot 100. (Additionally per the stat above, thanks to "Stay" and "Baby," tracks each by multiple co-billed lead solo males rank at Nos. 1 and 2 on the Hot 100 simultaneously for the first time in the chart's archives.) Concurrently, "Montero" pushes back into the Hot 100's top 10 (13-9), after it led in its debut week (dated April 10; it has spent all 26 of its weeks on the chart in the top 40). It vaults 36-10 on Streaming Songs, up 57% to 16.2 million streams. Rounding out Lil Nas X's trio of simultaneous Hot 100 top 10s, "Thats What I Want" roars onto the chart at No. 10, as it starts at No. 5 on Streaming Songs (24.2 million). The track arrives as his fifth Hot 100 top 10, and third to debut in the tier. It, along with "Baby," is being promoted to mainstream top 40 radio and debuts on the Pop Airplay chart at No. 34, while "Baby" rises 7-6. Drake's "Way 2 Sexy" slips 2-3 on the Hot 100, after premiering at No. 1 on the Sept. 18 chart. Still, it posts a third week atop Streaming Songs (32.5 million, down 19%) and claims top Airplay Gainer honors on the Hot 100 for a second week, as it leaps 43-21 on Radio Songs (27.6 million, up 59%). Ed Sheeran's "Bad Habits" backtracks 3-4 on the Hot 100, after reaching No. 2; Walker Hayes' "Fancy Like" keeps at its No. 5 high, while topping the multi-metric Hot Country Songs chart for its 11th week; and Olivia Rodrigo's "Good 4 U" rises 7-6 on the Hot 100 after it led in its first frame in May. "Good" also becomes Rodrigo's second No. 1 on the Adult Pop Airplay chart, after "Drivers License" reigned for four weeks in March and April. Elsewhere in the Hot 100's top 10, Doja Cat's "Kiss Me More," featuring SZA, lifts 8-7 after hitting No. 3, and Drake's "Knife Talk," featuring 21 Savage and Project Pat, falls to No. 8 from its No. 4 peak. Again, for all chart news, you can follow billboard and billboardcharts on both Twitter and Instagram and all charts (dated Oct. 2), including the Hot 100 in its entirety, will refresh on Billboard.com tomorrow (Sept. 28).

LNX having 3 songs top 10 is notable, but it does kinda make his first week numbers seem a little more off putting honestly…
Has an album with 3+ songs top 10 during release ever debuted with as low as 126k?
Usually albums that pull that off 3+ top 10s during release week do like 300k+. I guess he is still kind of a singles artist.

BTS Ties Justin Bieber For The Second-Longest-Running Sales No. 1 In U.S. History Hugh McIntyre Hugh McIntyreContributor Hollywood & Entertainment Follow
Just a few days ago, BTS released a new single alongside U.K.-based pop/rock band Coldplay, and next week, “My Universe” could prove to be a proper chart hit all around the world. While interest in that cut is high, fans in America are still buying the South Korean group’s recent smash “Butter,” which manages to sell well enough to earn another turn as the bestselling title in the U.S.
This week, “Butter” sold another 33,500 digital copies, according to information shared by MRC Data, the company tasked with collecting information that is then used to compile the Billboard charts. That’s a large enough sum to make “Butter” the bestselling track in America, and once again, the tune makes history by selling as well as it has.
When Billboard refreshes its charts tomorrow, “Butter” will hold atop the Digital Song Sales list, the ranking of the bestselling tracks in the U.S. The Song of the Summer will soon earn its seventeenth stay in the penthouse of that list, and in doing so, it will tie with another one of the biggest hits of all time.
With 17 weeks at No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart, “Butter” will officially tie Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee and Justin Bieber’s “Despacito” as the tune with the second-most frames spent atop that ranking. Back in 2017 when that multilingual smash was running the world, it broke the all-time record for the most weeks in charge of the purchase-only roster, though it was bested earlier this year.
Between 2020 and 2021, BTS’s “Dynamite” managed to land at No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart 18 times. That cut now stands as the title with the most weeks spent atop the purchase-foused tally.
Of the three longest-running No. 1s in the history of the Digital Song Sales chart, two belong to BTS, and that statistic is just one more demonstration of their indisputable power and popularity, especially when it comes to convincing a massive fan base to actually buy a song.
“Butter” is one of BTS’s eight No. 1 hits on the Digital Song Sales ranking, and it’s not even their most recent. As the catchy tune was still riding high, the band replaced themselves atop the tally with their even-newer track “Permission to Dance,” which also instantly became a sales giant. Next week, the septet could easily swap one tune for another, as it always seems likely that “My Universe” will launch in first place on the chart.

Despite that, I hope it does well and honestly I think Wizkid really did open doors for afrobeats and the Nigerian sound in general to shine so to see another artist from there to come through (Tems also as well), is big.

Is this already the decade with the most artists with 3 or more top 10s or was there more in the 2010s? I would imagine the 80s probably had the most albums with 3 or more top tens. Just in 1983/84 you had Thriller, Can't Slow Down, Synchronicity, Like A Virgin, Purple Rain, Born In The USA, She's So Unusual, Private Dancer, Rio, Seven And The Ragged Tiger, Footloose, Sports, Reckless, Suddenly, Make It Big, Break Out, etc. There were probably 3-5 each year in the 80s...it wasn't that uncommon back then. The difference was that it would take a year or more to do it, as opposed to getting them all in one week. Which balances out since most albums in the streaming era struggle to keep momentum going for singles after release week. It was easier to keep releasing hit singles after the album was released in the 80s because people couldn't easily listen to the whole thing when it came out (unless they were willing to pay for the album without hearing more than one song).
