En Vogue was massive that year. Geez. TLC was entertaining and interesting. Mary J. Blige was my new favorite solo act with "You Remind Me".

Omg there is ONE song by [REDACTED] that I just can't tank. This was my first year of being totally obsessed with music, (and a certain diva) .... so many memories.
Oh and if yall AINT familiar with Tevin Campbell's "Tell Me What You Want Me To Do", I suggest you get there.

Kicking off our extras are two hits by this dancehall artist from Jamaica. His biggest hit in the US was first known as "Champion Lover" by Deborahe Glasgow. They then collaborated on a reworking of the song with a new title. This version originally appeared on his 1988 album Rappin' With The Ladies. Years later it was re-recorded, this time with vocals by Chevelle Franklyn. This version peaked at #2 on the R&B chart and #40 on the Hot 100.
Mr. Loverman - Shabba Ranks
Next, his second biggest hit on the R&B chart. This collaboration peaked at #4.
Slow And Sexy - Shabba Ranks feat. Johnny Gill

First extra for today was the second single from her Nature Of a Sista' album. It peaked at #13 on the R&B chart, her biggest hit on that chart up to that point.
Latifah's Had It Up 2 Here - Queen Latifah
Next, the first Hot 100 entry for this female rapper. It also topped the rap chart and peaked at #11 for R&B. Contains numerous samples, most notably Toto's "Georgy Porgy" and Michael Jackson's "I Wanna Be Where You Are", as well as an interpolation of The S.O.S. Band's "Just Be Good To Me".
Poor Georgie - MC Lyte
And yes, that is a young Lauryn Hill in the music video.

First extra for today was the biggest hit for the hip hop duo from Mount Vernon, New York. It was their first #1 on the rap chart, and also peaked at #10 on the R&B chart. The inspiration for the song came from their friend Trouble T Roy of Heavy D & The Boyz, who died after falling from an exit ramp.
They Reminisce Over You (T.R.O.Y.) - Pete Rock & CL Smooth
Next, the biggest hit by this hip hop duo from Long Island. It topped the rap chart and peaked at #14 R&B. Samples "Give It Up" by Kool & The Gang.

Can't Have My Man - Alyson Williams
The follow-up was her final Top 10 hit, peaking at #6 R&B. It's a remake of a song The Deele took to #25 on the R&B chart in 1984.

First extra for today is the first charted single by this singer from San Francisco. It peaked at #7 on Billboard's R&B Airplay chart and #11 on the main R&B chart.
Love's Taken Over - Chanté Moore
Next, the debut single by this female trio from NYC. It peaked at #13 R&B, but could only get to #92 on the Hot 100. Of course, it would fare much better the following year thanks to a remix that sampled Michael Jackson's "Human Nature".
Right Here - SWV

I love both "T.R.O.Y." and "Don't Sweat The Technique". Technique would've made my #1 spot a real decision instead of the easy choice it was, but Reminisce would've made it a done deal, since that's one of my 10 favorite songs of all-time.

First extra for today is by this hip hop act from Los Angeles whose members included Everlast. The first charted single is also their biggest hit, peaking at #5 on the rap chart, #14 on the R&B chart, and #3 on the Hot 100. The fanfare intro was sampled from the Bob & Earl song "Harlem Shuffle". There has long been speculation that the high-pitched squeal heard throughout the song was sampled from Prince's "Gett Off", but the members of the group have denied that.
Jump Around - House Of Pain
Next, the biggest hit by this hip hop duo from Queens. It topped the rap chart and peaked at #21 for R&B. Sampled "Keep On Doin' It" by The New Birth, "Impressions" by McCoy Tyner, "I'd Say It Again" by Sweet Linda Divine, and an interpolation of "Engine Engine No. 9" by Roger Miller.
The Choice Is Yours (Revisited) - Black Sheep

You can get with this Or you can get with that
I thought Chante sounded Jackson-esque on "Love's Taken Over" when I was a kid. I didn't know who she was at the time.
The original "Right Here" is as good as the Human Nature version.
"Poor Georgie" and "Latifah's Had It Up To Here" are flawless female rap records. Everything about the former, from the samples to the lyrics, stuck with me since then.

Sent my list!
1992 was a little before my time musically, but I absolutely knew/grew up on and love my entire Top 9! I'll be rooting for any of those to win. Although I loved some others below it like my #10 through #13 or so. Then there were most songs I wasn't too familiar - either forgot about or never heard before, but I loved or liked most of those songs too. So yeah I am looking forward to seeing how this all plays out.
