I did some quick research out of curiosity, and apparently the only artist to have achieved multiple #1s across three decades as a solo artist is Janet Jackson. 80s: "When I Think Of You", "Miss You Much" 90s: "Escapade", "Black Cat", "Love Will Never Do (Without You)", "That's The Way Love Goes", "Again", "Together Again" 00s: "Doesn't Really Matter", "All For You" Including artists who were part of chart-topping groups, you'd also have Paul McCartney (alongside The Beatles in the 60s, alongside Wings in the 70s, and solo in the 80s), Diana Ross (with The Supremes in the 60s, solo in the 70s + 80s), and Michael Jackson (alongside the Jackson 5 in the 70s, solo in the 80s + 90s). So suffice to say that Lady Gaga will be in elite company if "Die With A Smile" manages to hit #1. Stevie Wonder, Elton John, and Beyoncé barely missed it, scoring at least one #1 in three consecutive decades, but for the 60s, 80s, and 2010s respectively, having only one #1 and then #2 hits: - "Fingertips – Part 2" as the chart-topper, then "I Was Made to Love Her" and "For Once In My Life" for Stevie - "That's What Friends Are For" as the chart-topper, then "I Don't Wanna Go on with You Like That" for Elton (justice for "I'm Still Standing")- "Perfect" remix as the chart-topper, then "Drunk In Love" for Beyoncé (justice for "Love On Top" and "Formation")This is of course such a technicality thing with groups because Gaga and Bruno are essentially a group on this song. I mean, doesn't Diana Ross actually have more time on those Supremes #1s than Gaga has on "DWAS" lol? I'm someone who thinks lead singers of groups should have those songs combined with their solo stuff, but I know Billboard doesn't usually do it that way. :ETA: Both of Gaga's #1s this decade are as part of a duo (i.e. group). You're right in that it's all in the billing, but that technicality is what matters. They're not duos or groups if they are billed separately as two solo artists performing together who don't perform together very frequently, such as those who release multiple albums together. Often, these recordings (if the artists receive equal billing, with the "&") will give roughly equal singing time to both artists, both separately and together, whereas if it's a group, usually the lead singer will do most or all of the singing with the other members playing instruments or singing backgroud, like with Diana Ross & The Supremes or Paul McCartney & The Wings; sometimes though, there isn't this distinction. Two performers together that would definitely count as duos/groups because they exist and are marketed more as one unit, and have released multiple albums together, include Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Simon & Garfunkel, and Hall & Oates, etc.

A bit of a breather of a slow week as it looked like the year was going to end on a bit of a dry spot until...a certain rapper dropped a surprise album on us all.
But that's for next week. For now, That's So True spends a second week at #1 although it was down 6.98% this week. We'll have to see if it can go back to #1 or if it's spent it's time on top. Interestingly, Sticky rebounds to #2 with a 15.76%. Really glad to have called this to be the breakout hit from CHROMAKOPIA and really glad to see the longevity for this song. The same cannot be said for St. Chroma which looks to have peaked as it fell to #8 with a 19.5% decline.
Not a lot of leftovers from last week stayed put. Seems like Zach Bryan won't have another sleeper hit as he goes on a hiatus with High Road crashing 42.28% and This World's A Giant dropping out entirely. Darling, I also dropped 16.6%, will be interesting to see how the album holds up against GNX.
In terms of debuts, the biggest was Tate McRae's newest mediocre single (seriously, someone get this girl a personality), we'll see how it does seeing as how It's ok I'm ok hasn't been the smash hit greedy was last winter (though it did have a good rebound off of 2 hands dropping). We also had debuts from Rauw Alejandro and Linkin Park's newest albums although neither pulled in amazing numbers. Honestly, the most interesting debut this week was Imogen Heap having a deepcut go viral. And as for our gains, Christmas songs continued their momentum, Like Him is showing to be a big fan favorite deepcut from the album, WHATCHU KNO ABOUT ME saw a massive boost, and The Marías have their first ever Top 20 hit with No One Noticced breaking in.
Notable Gains: WHATCHU KNO ABOUT ME - 44.06% It's ok I'm ok - 41.99% Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree - 37.24% It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year - 36.64% Jingle Bell Rock - 34.2% Let It Snow! Let It Snow! - 31.96% Santa Tell Me - 31.33% It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas [Michael Bublé] - 27.75% All I Want for Christmas is You - 27.48% Last Christmas - 25.63% Shut up My Moms Calling - 21.73% I Smoked Away My Brain - 18.79% Like Him - 18.11% Numb - 17.08% Sticky - 15.76% No One Noticed - 15.54% Don't - 15.48% Nobody Gets Me - 13.11% Yeah Glo! - 11.85% When It Rains It Pours - 10.99% See You Again - 10.97% NIGHTS LIKE THIS - 10.88% Juno - 10.78%

Oh My God, it's finally happening for DWAS.. I hope it's TRUE It will make Gaga as the first artist or female artist to have multiple no.1s across 3 Decades 😍 I did some quick research out of curiosity, and apparently the only artist to have achieved multiple #1s across three decades as a solo artist is Janet Jackson. "Ben" and "Don't Stop Til You Get Enough" topped the Hot 100 in 1972 and 1979, respectively, and both are credited solely to Michael.

For some reason I thought "Rock With You" preceded "Don't Stop Til You Get Enough" and knowing the former hit #1 in 1980, didn't bother to double check. 💀 Thank you for correcting me.

This is quite nailbiting for me, what time does the new chart is announced on Monday again? They release it around 10am here in Los Angeles, but knowing how close the points are they’ll release it a couple hours later like always. In very rare cases, they'll do the top 10 of the Hot 100 article on the day the chart is published (normally, Tuesday, when there a Monday holiday, Wednesday) if the #1 and #2 are close in points and an audit of the digital songs sales of one of the songs is required. The chart is usually refreshed early in the day, while the article gets published later that same day.

Stevie Wonder, Elton John, and Beyoncé barely missed it, scoring at least one #1 in three consecutive decades, but for the 60s, 80s, and 2010s respectively, having only one #1 and then #2 hits: - "Fingertips – Part 2" as the chart-topper, then "I Was Made to Love Her" and "For Once In My Life" for Stevie - "That's What Friends Are For" as the chart-topper, then "I Don't Wanna Go on with You Like That" for Elton (justice for "I'm Still Standing")- "Perfect" remix as the chart-topper, then "Drunk In Love" for Beyoncé (justice for "Love On Top" and "Formation")Michael Jackson still falls into the "multiple solo number ones in three decades" category even without the Jackson 5. "Ben" and "Don't Stop Til You Get Enough" topped the Hot 100 in 1972 and 1979, respectively, and both are credited solely to Michael. This will still be an elite list to join.

AND 1999. Good times. Waiting for Tonight wouldve been a multpile week #1 had it been released in the streaming era.

But for it was played like crazy everywhere for that last week of December and the turn of the millennium. That’s what I was referring to.

Look at this cemetery of a Top 10, Lose Control somehow back to #4? Espresso, I Had Some Help and Beautiful Things still sitting around. Of course A Bar Song is still #1. Kendrick and Christmas couldn’t come soon enough, kick these dinosaurs into the shadow realm for good!

I wonder how close the points were for "Bar" and "Die." "Die" might have a chance as the first #1 of the New Year. It'll be hard these next few weeks with "squabble" and the Christmas songs in contention.
