In the subject of female-fronted rock bands of the decade, I've found quite a bit to enjoy in the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. They only released one album, but I REALLY enjoyed Sour's Exactly What You Think It Is, but that one wasn't on a big label, though you can find it on the CDBaby.com web site, which is good for low-distributing records.
I was sorry to see Sleater-Kinney go, but at least in their decade-plus existance there was always quality stuff.
However, it's unfortunate that since it isn't common, people go apes*** on an artist just because of something of the like, even though the music is not really interesting.

Not trying to change your opinion, but what I like about this band is the energy that they emote in their music. Yeah, they're not exactly reinventing the wheel sonically speaking...but for as young as they are, they've got catchy hooks and good songwriting. They still don't average 20 years old and they're already on their second album. Their work is consistently good, IMO. If they stay grounded, they can only get better.

I had no idea this was even charting, but now I find it in the top 20. Weird.

This song plays during, literally, every MTV-based commercial on MTV. And the band is shown in every other commercial. Most artists would kill for that kind of promo.

I don't watch MTV, but my sister always has it on and I keep walking by and I have to do a double-take. I'm glad that they are getting good exposure. I just hope it doesn't turn into too much of a good thing.

The album in the week plus since Paramore has had the MTV commercial plugs...has jumped from the mid 30s to #4 on ITunes. Stellar.

Anytime someone puts more than one "o" in "love," it will forever remind me of this. ("A dramatic reading of a real break-up letter from a real person.")

This song deserves to be huge! I'm surprised it's not getting a ton of play on pop. Seems like such a super-smash waiting to happen to me.

This is now Top 10 on Alternative and really really really should really get a pop push from Fueled by Ramen...really.
They leapfrogged past Flyleaf...does this have a chance at getting to #1? Top 5?

16 9 PARAMORE Misery Business 2007 Fueled By/Lava/Atlantic 1196 993 203 6.131
Wow! This is impressive. I didn't expect this to go top 10! It's now the greatest gainer in the top 10 with no threats in sight.

GREAT song by a great group! Watched the video like 3 times (dont' usually do that to rock videos). Yah she's pretty punk but I can see the Avril comparisions. I mean if Avril had her own hardcore rocking, head banging, big guitar playing band - the difference wouldn't be that far off.
So really its nice to see a female within the top 10 (when's the last time that's happened on Alternative?) but at the same time I can't see why Haley (the singer) and her group Paramore is the exception. Take a look at her others songs (which ARE good) and you'll see what I mean. Aside from some guitar rifts..pretty pop-like IMO. Not to mention the fact she's so young (and pretty hawt!).
I mean, I'm not saying there's gonna be a change at Alternative (especially with its reigning #1) , but its nice to give this group a chance! She kinda sounds like a young Pat Benatar - so its not like the example is changing at all.

Evanescence were the last one's to hit Top 10 with "Call Me When You're Sober". Before that, I think it was Garbage.
Does Gorillaz "Dare" count? Because that song featured the vocals of the female character of the group along with that white guy.

Never heard of Gorillaz, but since I'm just getting back into rock again - that's no surprise.

Funny, I'd think you'd be more likely to hear of Gorillaz from pop than rock.

No, genres aren't mutally exclusive, although they should be.
Besides, one of them would sue. You can't have two bands with the same name, at least not two popular bands.

Because that song featured the vocals of the female character of the group along with that white guy. Shaun Ryder of the Happy Mondays.

This has become one of my favorite songs this year. Good to see the bullet on pop is back, though small. And it has the second highest bullet on Alternative. I still don't understand how this isn't on pop yet.

I still don't understand how this isn't on pop yet. It's too good for Pop. I'm actually afraid of it making it big on Pop. If it does chart, I hope it goes now further than top 30. Pop has a tendency of really destroying good songs by playing them every hour making sure you get sick of them. I never was tired of "Face Down" until Pop picked it up. I sure hope that doesn't happen to "Misery Business."
