The chorus wasnt bad, but i couldve done without the imagine dragonsy verses. Sounds like a hit though! Plus Switchfoot singles have a history of being nothing like the rest of the album.

After multiple listens, I really like this! Surprised how spiritual the lyrics are, if this was played on christian radio or even in a church i wouldnt blink twice!

Imo they should have gone with The Killers, Onerepublic, Journey, or Elton John before Maroon 1+ Ableton Live

Gotcha Lumi! Its like the area code he grew up in or something. He mentions it on his last album.

I completely disagree! For me, music is special because it can impact you emotionally and Id rather have lyrics that tell a captivating story than perfect rhyme scheme. Im not saying pop songs need to have super complex lyrics or anything, but I beliebe theres a huge difference in the way Max and lets say Ryan Tedder or Jack Antonoff write lyrics. For them, the ultimate focus is the story or message of the song, for Max its just whatever sounds the best. Im sure some of that is becuase English is not his native language. I do think some of Maxes best songs come when he works with people who are good lyricists, Taylor in particular comes to mind. Music is meant to serve many purposes though and not all music fills every gap. I don't think anyone goes for a Max Martin song for the lyrics and to feel an emotion or get a relatable personal story. His songs are meant to be catchy, lyrically catchy yet singable, with a focus on melody. That isn't to say he hasn't produced songs that one can latch on to for its lyrics, but that's not his purpose as a musician/producer. Yea, thats the beauty of music. Nobodys music is objectivelly better than anybody elses, and one mans trash is another mans treasure. Not saying Max is trash btw

This is pretty good but its not lead single material. This has no chance at radio

Those Lauren Daigle numbers are indeed impressive! Comparing to other debuts this year she sold double Charlie Puth, Future, and Rae Sremmond; Similar numbers to Camila and Logic, and about 2/3 of Panic at the Disco and The Weeknd! Im not a massive fan, but i hope we start seeing CCM albums pulling these kind of numbers more often!

Max Martin is overrated. Hes extremely talented and I like a lot of his songs (Into you, Style, etc.) but he is far from the best producer/songwriter in pop right now. He will absoluetly sacrifice lyrical integrity in a song for a better rhyme scheme/syllable count. His vocal production likewise is almost too perfect, and lacks those elements that make the performer feel more human. His productions are flawlessly put together, but lack creatitivity and flair. Overall i find many of his songs unmoving emotionally and somewhat uncreative But the rhyme scheme in music is more important than the lyrical integrity. I completely disagree! "Clarity" is overrated. While "Stay the Night" sounds similar, it's a lot better. Zedd is excellent at toplines and chord progressions, just look up piano versions of his songs for proof of that, but hes an average producer at best. Average producer and great songwriter is better than bad songwriter good producer tho

This reminds me of Mute Math and Gorillaz. Would love to hear the backstory on why MM produced this album, very random. Anyways, in my opinion this is their best song ever, period. Theyve toured together before, theyre friends, and Mutemath is on hiatus, meaning Paul needs things to do

Lauren Daigle is outdoing the most recent albums from Selena and Miley in pure sales, thats pretty impressive considering the lack of name recongition.

Do the backing vocals in the chorus remind anyone else of Pompeii by Bastille?

Look like Paul Meany, the singer from Mutemath, produced the whole album! Not at all surprised, considering all the singles gave me major Mutemath vibes.

#1 in the latest UK update and the gap between this and "Shotgun" is 500 units now. It should be noted that there's missing data of Amazon HD, Amazon Music, Apple Music, Spotify and YouTube from Wednesday. Is Calvin Harris just massively popular in the UK or something?

I agree, a dude could sing still rolling stones and you say and it would still sound like an adele song. Which song reminds you of Onerepublic? Jordan Feliz Beloved Same thing, it isn't just the singing, because I never would have linked Jordan Feliz to One Republic before that song. It's the musical style as well. That's interesting because Ryan Tedder has always sounded like CCM to me, his melodies sound very much like Chris Tomlin or Hillsong, and he uses similar vocal techniques to a lot of worship leaders/singers. A lot of his productions are CCMish as well (mix of live and programmed drums, Acoustic Guitar for rhythm low in the mix, layers of simple electric guitar parts, not huge emphasis on the bass, simple piano arpeggios throughout etc.) I know Ryan grew up in church and with Christian music, so i wouldn't be surprised if its not coincidental!
