| I'm sad that I only added this in December. It really deserves to be at least top 50. I love how it starts off with an acapella to set the mood, then come the tribal drums and chanting in the background to give you that empowered feeling, like you're in an army with hundreds of men leading the way. The autotune in the bridge is used very tastefully; it seemed out of place at first, but after multiple listens it's my favourite part.
Date Added: 2012/12/04 | | I heard this on Glee first, and I actually liked it better - Amber and Naya are great vocalists - , but the original grew on me with time. It's basically a rougher Rolling in the Deep. It has a very '60s? feel to it that I enjoy. The bridge works great as well, breaking up the aggressive verses and choruses with a vulnerable, stripped down moment.
Date Added: 2012/05/05 | | #83 - Nicki Minaj - The Boys (feat. Cassie) This is supposed to be Nicki's attempt at getting her Urban fans back? I still don't understand what she was expecting this to do. It's too Urban for Pop, and too Pop for Urban. I hated it originally for sounding like a demo of three songs mashed up, but the verses are fire and the Nekci Menij show got me hooked. It's also got a great video, though I wouldn't have minded if they spent that money on something that deserved it, like Va Va Voom, but I'll get to that later.
Date Added: 2012/11/18 | | Fairies, butterflies and unicorns all come to mind when listening to this song. It makes my tooth rot, much like most of Kiss, but this especially. The disco influences in this are my favourite part. I can't figure out which one, but the instrumental reminds me of a classic song, and I keep having an urge to listen to it so I can figure it out.
Date Added: 2012/09/21 | | "I'm not a slut, I just love love". The Truth About Love is a good album, but this is the only song that'll be on my list. Slut Like You is a gender equality anthem, that could have easily been released by Ke$ha. It has a very tongue in cheek atmosphere about it. You can tell from every line that it's intended as a joke, but still serious enough for it to be fun. This is just a side note but I'm a bit surprised that this is the only song in my library to include the word "slut" in the title.

Yup, there are a few more ;) Fun fact: She just missed out on my top 10 artists list. I think either her or Christina are #11, depending on how much points I give her for Moves Like Jagger

| I was pleasantly surprised when I heard this song. I was expecting another Mr. Saxobeat rehash, but it's actually nothing like it. It's produced by the same people, but they decided to take out the saxophones, and instead add accordions onto this reggae-pop track. The result? Pure bliss. Out of all the songs on my list, I think this is the one that I enjoyed listening to most on the beach. It has that summer feel to is. The little dubstep break is pretty pathetic, but you win some, you lose some I guess.
Date Added: 2012/07/24 | | Typical RedOne/Usher track, but it still has some parts that make it stand out, particularly that synth melody in the beginning that comes out during the chorus, and Usher's clean vocals. I won't say it's brilliant, but it's a decent track. Lol @ the single cover being the same color as Pulse though.
Date Added: 2012/05/22 | | Warrior is a near perfect album, with every song being, well, near perfect. I can't include all of them, so I narrowed it down to two album tracks. Crazy Kids, features some of Ke$ha's best verses. They capture what Ke$ha is about perfectly, with every line being interesting and clever. Then let's talk about the chorus... This woman knows how to write hooks that will stay in your head forever. To finish it all off, infectious whistling and a classic Ke$ha moment when she whispers "we are the crazy people" at the end of each chorus, before breaking into the ratchet verses.
Date Added: 2012/11/26 | | Then there's this. The production on this song could use a bit of work. As with Crazy Kids (and basically everything else), it has a killer hook, but I don't know whose idea it was to include that buzzing synth all throughout the verses... I mean, maybe for the pre-chorus it would fit, but it takes a while to get used to. The bridge however is what elevates it above the previous track. There are many mediocre breakdowns on Warrior (the title track being the main one), but they finally got it with this one. You really have to listen to it loudly with good equipment to appreciate it. The periodical pulses give me life.
Date Added: 2012/11/26 | | It's a shame that Calvin Harris had to make one of the best tracks on 18 Months an interlude. He's trolling us on purpose, I can feel it. School is a funky/groovy little instrumental track, that is sure to relax you before the headache causing Here 2 Chine comes in... I really hope that he ends up releasing a full version, though I doubt that will happen considering the entire rest of the album has been released already.

Nice pop mix here! Beautiful formatting of this. Props for the "Tonight I'm Getting Over You" mention; that would be my pick for next single. Your commentary for P!nk got me to check to see how many songs in my library have "slut" in the title, and I'm surprised to find that my library is slut-free. Got the Harris track in queue to check out as what you've described sounds great so hopefully you're not lying to me.

Scream, Crazy Kids, Supernatural. Supernatural over Crazy Kids though? Oh and the Supernatural breakdown is totally a rip-off of the in one of MDNA's tracks, I'm Addicted.

Thank you very much! :) I hope you like it. I think that's the main point of countdowns, to help people find new music, so I'm happy if you like it. Scream, Crazy Kids, Supernatural. Yup, but tbh 100-60 are all really close. So you can imagine how much of a difference there is between Supernatural and Crazy Kids, basically equal. It's similar, but I don't think it's a rip-off. Supernatural is miles better though, so.
Little bonus, here's a quick video summing up the first 25 songs with short clips. Most people have probably know the majority and will just click the occasional youtube link, but hopefully someone uses it.

Great to see "Don't You Worry Child", "Let's Have a Kiki", "Cockiness (Love It)", "Skyfall", "Don't Stop (Color on the Walls)" and "Figure 8". Yay for Calvin Harris's Example-featured "We'll Be Coming Back", but... I generally hate Example and hope him and his career die Also, this is not the official cover On the other hand, "Some Nights", "Rumour Has It" and "Supernatural" are fantastic! Regarding, Calvin Harris's "School"... It's a shame that Calvin Harris had to make one of the best tracks on 18 Months an interlude. He's trolling us on purpose, I can feel it. THIS!!!Hope, as you said, he would release an extended version of it. It's Calvin as its best.

| Summer Of Love is the first single off of Cascada's Greatist Hits album, Back On The Dancefloor, which I have to say it my favourite Greatist Hits album of the year. Sorry Kelly and JLo fans. The song is incredibly catchy and Cascada Natalie sounds great, but is backed by a somewhat generic dance beat. It also doesn't help that it's about nothing. She's They've done better, but ultimately it's a good song for letting loose. Much better than San Fransisco, that's for sure. Edit: I keep forgetting that Cascada is a group and not a person...
Date Added: 2012/07/22 | | Let's just start off by saying that I haven't heard a Carrie song since Before He Cheats, or one liked enough to listen to more than once. So, I was a bit skeptical listening to this, but it surprised me. The song starts with a bluesy electric guitar riff, and captures that Carrie attitude that I loved in Before He Cheats. Thematically, it's about warning a "good girl" to be careful because he will f**k her over. I particularly like the line "His lips are dripping honey, but he'll sting you like a bee", and Carrie sounds amazing, like always.
Date Added: 2012/05/05 | | Why does this have 470 million views on Youtube? Jesus. This is the only foreign language song on my list if I'm not mistaken. I prefer the portugese version, because then I'm not distracted by the awful lyrics, plus there was a funny viral hungarian misheard lyrics video for it, which obviously only works with the original. I really like the exotic feel of the song.
Date Added: 2012/03/15 | | Blackout is the first single off of Hell Is What You Make It, by Breathe Carolina. It's an electro/dance pop song about getting drunk and not blacking out. I really like how they simulate blacking out by putting a few skips in the chorus while they're singing the main hook "I won't bla- ck-out". I don't understand what they were going for with the video in the scene where a random shirtless black guy beats the life out of them with a saxophone? Strange...
Date Added: 2012/01/31 | | Red is the title track off of Taylor Swift's new album, Red. In this song, Taylor decides to try to compare her relationship to everyday tasks, such as "driving a new Maserati down a dead-end street". You know, stufff everyone can relate to. For the chorus, she compares her feelings to colors, with "Red" being the color of love, surprisingly. Taylor also tries her hand at "autotune" in the songs chorus where she sings "Re-e-e-e-e-d" in a robotic voice.

:kii: I actually like the three songs I've heard from him, but he seems like a homophobic douchebag. I'd love to be proven otherwise.
I know some of the covers aren't official but either I can't find the official, or they look better.
It's a gem, really.

Thank you very much! :) I hope you like it. I think that's the main point of countdowns, to help people find new music, so I'm happy if you like it. I did like it! And I agree, a lot of the fun of reading these is finding new music (as well as learning a bit more about specific posters' musical preferences). "Red" is one of my favorite non-singles on Red, so nice choice there. And 100% YES to "Ai se eu te pego" not being translated to English; charm lost in translation. "Blackout" is a good one too. I completely missed this Cascada song, but I generally like their stuff, so I'll have to fix that.

So, I just made my first mess up(s). I decided to put the start of the tracking period 3 days back, because Domino had a large chunk of its plays cut off, and it didn't chart last year. This wouldn't really matter, as it doesn't affect any other song: Except Un Momento which might be top 50 if it had those 3 days counted for it too. I'm not going to change anything, but I'll just mention it.
Also, Jump by Rihanna was supposed to be #68 before I realized that it's ineligible, due to it being the third album track after two higher ones. I decided the easiest way to fix this is to let a certain track from Lights chart. Technically, the album was released in the US in 2011, and the first single from the album peaked in the US in 2012 so I guess I can count it. Plus it's really high up so I felt bad for not including it anyway.
Now that we got that little mistake out of the way, let's continue! | At #70, we have We Run The Night, a dance-pop song by Australian DJ Havana Brown. The chorus is full of energy and euphoria, followed by an alarm-like hook, perfect for switching up the tempo and twerking a bit. Havana's lifeless and robotic vocals keep it from charting higher though.
Date Added: 2012/05/06 | | Domino sounds like it could have been a track from Teenage Dream. Many people used that as a con when talking about the song, but for me that's a huge pro. Every line is infectious, and the video for it is executed very nicely. It's simple but Jessie J knows how to keep your attention with her attitude.
Date Added: 2011/12/29 | | Ok, the breakdown is sort of generic (although I like it and it works), but the hook really gets me. It's a powerful, infectious melody which Eva Simons pulls off perfectly. I also like how the song isn't built entirely around a dance beat, as there are moments with just piano. The lyrics are horrible otherwise, but I don't think anyone really expects better from will.i.am at this point.
Date Added: 2012/09/03 | | Call My Name is We Found Love's little sister, nowhere near as good, but the relation is enough to give it a small chunk of perfection. It features typical Calvin Harris production with a cute little melody that in my opinion could have had more potential with a better singer. Cheryl is a great dancer though, I especially like her one legged booty shaking move during the post-chorus breakdown.
Date Added: 2012/05/11 | | I think this should be the next single after Sweet Nothing. Seeing as how Ellie and Calvin are two of my favourite artists of the year, I had high expectations for their collaboration, and they delivered. Ellie's voice is polarizing, but I personally think her vocals sound haunting and beautiful, complimented well by the heavy bass and video game beeps on this track.

Small text looks classier and I might as well since the chart has small text too.
Thank you everyone! I'm glad the reaction exists is positive! :)
franklin I'm glad you like the layout. Josh already replied, but yeah basically

asdasd
asd

is the basis of every row. From here it's just images and links and whatnot.
@wotuneed glad to hear that! Yeah the Cascada track kind of flew under the radar. Iirc it leaked in March but didn't get released till June, when the hype was over.
