Back with another installment in this series as 1994 gets its turn in the spotlight. Nine singles topped the chart, but one was double-sided, so we'll be ranking a total of 10 songs. Kicking off the extras is the first charted single by this rapper from Brooklyn. Built on a sample of Mtume's "Juicy Fruit", it peaked at #3 on the rap chart, #14 on the R&B chart, and #27 on the Hot 100.

Bump N Grind should be last on this and I normally never tank songs based on who the artist is but that song has always been one of his worst. Now whenever I Believe I Can Fly gets on one of this I hope that one can have some boosters because that one is amazing.

First extra for today was one of the earliest singles by this rapper from Brooklyn. It peaked at #27 on the rap chart and #67 on the R&B chart, and is generally considered one of the greatest hip hop songs ever recorded. It samples Ahmad Jamal's "I Love Music" and pays homage to the movie Scarface. There are also references to organized crime figure Howard "Pappy" Mason as well as the serial killer of the Texarkana Moonlight Murders.
The World Is Yours - Nas
Next, the first charted single by this duo from Atlanta. It topped the rap chart, and peaked at #12 R&B and #37 on the Hot 100.

Players Ball isn’t one of my favorites from Outkast but it’s still a very good song that I’d probably have high as well.

Today's extras are two songs that helped define the G-Funk era. The second single from his debut album Doggystyle topped the rap chart and peaked at #13 on the R&B chart and #8 on the Hot 100. It was nominated for a Grammy for Best Rap Solo Performance. Samples "I Get Lifted" by George McCrae and contains an interpolation of "Watching You" by Slave.
Gin And Juice - Snoop Doggy Dogg
Next, a song built on a sample of Michael McDonald's "I Keep Forgettin'". It topped the rap chart, peaked at #7 R&B and #2 on the Hot 100, and hit the Top 10 in 13 other countries. Also samples "Sign Of The Times" by Bob James and "Let Me Ride" by Dr. Dre, and was nominated for a Grammy for Best Rap Performance By a Duo Or Group. The song was included in the soundtrack to the movie Above The Rim.

"If That's Your Boyfriend" is so bold, sassy and funky. Nothing good comes out of a woman-to-woman situation, especially if it involves someone's man. lol.
"Funkdafied" is such a classic. I remember as a kid thinking that it was Snoop or at least someone that sounded like him. I had no idea it was a girl.
My mom wore out "U.N.I.T.Y." back in the day and I don't blame her.
