I really tried my best to like this. I just could not lol Right! Like what is everyone hearing? I’m hearing nails on a chalkboard. Like Gaga “Dope” bad. Oh well.

I like the song, but I'm not getting people saying its the most radio friendly thing on the entire Guts project.

I would say this is the most radio-friendly song on the album, bar "Vampire". Much more radio-friendly than "Bad Idea Right". I can see it going top 10 on Pop radio fairly easily. Gives me "Bad Guy" meets "Good For You" vibes. If her team plays their cards right it should do well and become another hit for her. Perhaps the second biggest hit of the album behind "Vampire". I disagree, I would definitely say Get Him Back! (hence it already getting quite a bit of airplay) and Love Is Embarrassing.
I would say "Obsessed" is more instant from the get go and the verses are better (particualrly the production). "Get Him Back!" has a great chorus though and deserved to be a bigger hit than what it was.

Does anyone think this sounds like Telephone with the stop calling stop calling part?

I wouldn't mind if it becomes her most successful song after Good 4 U 🙂

I was binging her first 3 singles yesterday, and wowser what a 1-2-3 punch that was. By far the best in pop music of this decade so far (well ok, the first 3 U.S. FN singles also come close). I think she’s struggling a bit with hits this era because those 3 just set an impossibly high benchmark. They are all melodically, production, and lyrically about as perfect as it gets for what they were each trying to be.
They also were all incredibly distinct from each other. I do agree she is feeling typecast this era as either devastated balladeer or bratty pop punk girl. This is the third single in a row that feels like it’s desperately chasing Good 4 U’s success, and I honestly think they need to give that a rest and she needs another Deja Vu moment. That song sounds like a breath of fresh air even 3 years later and doesn’t fall into any of her typecasted sounds people might associate her with at this point. This is catchy enough, but no more so than BIR or GHB… and all 3 pale in comparison to the hookiness overload that is G4U if you ask me.
I do wonder as well if her age is getting in the way this era. I feel like she’s still chasing being relatable to high schoolers, but she is well out of high school age at this point. And honestly, these songs this era just lyrically don’t resonate as well from that pov imo. But I also feel like that’s what she’s still going for. Definitely hitting more of a twenty something audience with lyrical resonance will be key for her going forward I think.

^Could not agree more with this. G4U felt genuinely fresh and exciting, but she leaned too hard into that aesthetic. Deja Vu remains the best work in her discography and wish she would take things in that direction.

It’s funny because my 13 year old nephew last week was humming Deja Vu all day when I was around him… the only other songs he was singing were all very current hits. Totally anecdotal of course, but I did find that pretty interesting to make of what you will. When I was listening yesterday, I also felt Deja Vu is the one that sounds even better now than then. Aging immaculately imo.

I wish she'd release an uptempo where the verses aren't talked-sung.

This is the worst song she’s ever released. I’m a fan of her two albums, and this is exactly what a bside sounds like….a song that wasn’t good enough to make the album.
Kinda concerning she didn’t record a better song to breathe new life into this era, but maybe she’s saving the better tracks for her next release.

This is the best thing I’ve heard from her since Sour. I do agree about the Deja Vu talk though! I’d still like to take this to the top.

Seems like the general audiences disagree though and find this to be a good song, so it’s really a matter of opinion. I don’t think this release is “concerning” to this eras success. It’s right in line with the energy of this era and the song is performing extremely well, considering it IS a bside release.

Songs like this and "Bad Idea Right?" all sound like the same bratty/whiny punk pop vibe and it just isn't my style of music at all, so unsurprisingly I don't care for it. Still, will be interesting to see if it can course correct the era!

Get him back was way better and more radio friendly than this, not sure why that didn’t get this kind of push.

Get him back was way better and more radio friendly than this, not sure why that didn’t get this kind of push. It eventually did, lasted much longer than it should've probably. Streaming just remained abysmal.

This is one song above the bottom for me. I didn't really need another bratty song from her, but yeah, this shows up on the Amazon pink vinyl variant. Totally forgot that this was the hidden track on my vinyl. I haven't revisited it since the first time I played the vinyl, but I am going to go back to it tonight to see if I have changed my mind.

this is amazing, i like this way more than her other singles. I guess i understand the comparisons to get him back! and good 4 u, but this song is way more pathetic (in terms of lyrical content) than either of those which makes it different enough for me.
