This album is amazing. My favorite tracks are the "Crave," "All of the Feelings," and "Can't Be Saved." I have those on repeat, but the whole album is fantastic! "Can't Be Saved" had a nice placement on Love Island!

Full album Poprox out, and whoa the vocals are on point! Some whistle tones sprinkled in there...catchy songs, hope to see some traction for Olivia! Not sure if It Girl is the way to go, but crossing fingers...

My all-time favorite song. I have never tired of it (obviously). The bass-line is iconic. I can only imagine that Taylor Swift's "Out of the Woods" was partly inspired by it. The 12" remixes are super fun too! Great lyrics and a chorus from the Gods!

How is Africa by Toto so high on iTunes? It’s #54 right now. Can’t all be because of the Weezer remake. A choir performed a very elaborate version of it on America's Got Talent recently.

Interesting article on Vulture: www.vulture.com/2018/03/fifth-harmony-break-up-explained.htmlFifth Harmony Was Never Built to Last Group acts in pop have always been unstable compounds. Even when the pieces fit, the blowup is inevitable. It can happen many ways. The management can be so corrupt that it’s intolerable, for one. Lou Pearlman, the former manager for Backstreet Boys, ‘N Sync, and virtually every boy band in the ’90s ended up being sued by most of the groups he managed for gross financial chicanery. Sometimes the group just runs out of steam: Witness the fate of the Spice Girls, who sank out of sight almost as rapidly as they’d risen. And then there’s dissension. Fame magnifies imbalances in talent and, as intramural tensions grow, the allure of a solo career becomes irresistible. Justin Timberlake and Beyoncé are the classic examples, but the most recent instance is that of Camila Cabello, who struck out from Fifth Harmony to achieve even greater success on her own. Meanwhile, the remainder of Fifth Harmony has taken Cabello’s acrimonious parting rather less well. Today the quartet announced that it would be suspending operations until further notice. Along with One Direction, Fifth Harmony had been the defining pop group of its generation; the end of both in the last three years now raises questions about what could follow them. Pop groups have always been ephemeral by nature, but it’s not impossible that the pop group itself, as a general format, is no longer viable. Few types of acts have been more reliant on the music industry than the pop group. With the partial exception of family-based units like the Jonas Brothers or 98 Degrees, its chemistry has always been entirely artificial, and the rise to stardom of any given group is rarely organic. The members’ contribution to their own artistic direction is secondary; all considerations of quality are tied to market appeal. It follows that the relative weakening of the music industry over the past two decades has dampened the prospects for aspiring boy bands and girl groups, plus their managers. Though the industry remains powerful by objective standards, its ability to dictate tastes has fallen off considerably due to the internet. Even if a group is loaded into the catapult, there’s no way to ensure that it hits its mark. It’s telling that Fifth Harmony, One Direction, and the Jonas Brothers came to the industry only after having gained great visibility through television: 5H and 1D were forged on The X-Factor while the Jonases were graduates of the Disney Channel. Yet as streaming services eat away at the audience for television, particularly among the young, even television seems like less of a sure road to music stardom. It’s telling that a fledgling boy band like Why Don’t We owes most of its recognition to their affiliation with big-league YouTube vlogger Logan Paul rather than publicity arranged by music-business publicists, or that Paul’s brother and fellow YouTube celebrity, Jake Paul, could land his posse Team 10 on the Billboard charts with a song named after Jake’s catchphrase, “It’s Everyday Bro.” To say that Team 10 qualify as a musical act would be generous, but they’re the closest thing to a future model for the pop group that we have at this point, which is a nice way of saying that there may be no future at all. And then there’s the state of pop itself, which seems more and more like a saccharine sub-variant of rap than the main attraction for the masses. Pop groups thrive on the spotlight and the spotlight only, but as pop is progressively eclipsed by hip-hop on streaming, it’s evident that however well individual solo acts adjust to the new environment, any new pop group will have a hard time gaining traction. Who needs the next Jonas Brothers when the Migos already exist? Why invest time and money to invent five different characters for a girl group when Cardi B is realer than anyone the industry can manufacture? Of course, the prospects for the pop group are hardly dire everywhere in the world. For at least a decade, the liveliest girl groups and boy bands have come out of South Korea, where a rising economy and a relative absence of competition has made fresh-faced acts like BTS, BIGBANG, Wonder Girls, and 2NE1 not only major stars in their own country but superstars within much of East Asia. Backed by ferocious fan hives with access to the world’s fastest internet, K-pop groups sit at the peak of the Korean music industry. And though the music industry abroad is no less exploitative and groups are no less prone to dissolution, it’s still a given in Seoul that when one group goes down, another one, just as big if not bigger, will soon replace it. As far as a successor to Fifth Harmony goes, though, we’ll believe it only when we see it.

This video is fantastic. It's different, and the bike-choreography looks good. The song is Carly Rae Jepsen meets Little Mix. It's super catchy. I hope it moves the album a bit.

Rachel Platten made a hilarious cameo on Samantha Bee last week with Fight Song. I have been listening to Waves like crazy. It's so good.

I just love this album. There are parts that are totally Ellie Goulding-esque but Rachel gives it her own spin. Perfect For You kind of reminds me of Charlie Puth's "Attention," the vibe/production of it. Broken Glass and Whole Heart are total earworms and I'm constantly replaying them. Loose Ends is "Fight Song 2.0" (the melody is essentially the same).
This is a really enjoyable album that is great if you enjoy Ellie Goulding AC leaning pop.

So many interesting performances, but I had my happiest moment when the Extra gum commercial came on with the luminescent Haley Reinhart singing.

I never get tired of this song. The video is absolutely gorgeous. A little bummed that Rob had to lower the key to sing it live for the Sirius video, but he looks great. Dance remixes peaked at #5 on Club Play chart (Eric Kupper's sounds great in a big room!)

Moving from J/RCA to Epic is pretty much pointless as she's still working with Clive (whom as it has been said earlier, can't figure out what to do with her), but she will be working with LA Reid so hopefully he'll have a few tricks up his sleeve and can get things going for JHud. The problem that I see with Jennifer is that although her albums are decent, she's always so stellar when she does covers (Purple Rain for example) that any original song pretty much pales in comparison. I'm sure that she's had tons of offers to do cover albums and it must be tempting.

Well, fortunately these albums seem to be on their way out. Only about 28k parents were suckered into buying this one, as opposed to the 43k last time. If this keeps up, the series will just die out. That decline is due to album sales in general, not Kidz Bop.
Not sure parents are "getting suckered into it". Not 3 year olds, more like ages 6 to 10. They are good to allow kids to sing along to current songs without the profanity. This will be around a while longer.
Totally. Plus they've been touring and people are seeing them and enjoying it with their kids (and buying the CDs as souvenirs)

Some of these are good, but nothing can touch the original. The Tom Ferry remix certainly comes close. It's perfection for me. I also like the Redant remixes.

I'm not even a Celine Dion fan, but at the very least, she has two - "My Heart Will Go On" and "Because You Loved Me." You could make an argument for "The Power of Love" and "It's All Coming Back to Me Now." Celine's album sales have always been a mystery to me. She had far fewer hits than acts like Mariah and Madonna yet consistently had larger album sales at her peak. I'm sure the adult appeal helped, but it's still odd. And, yeah, in the end she probably only has 3-4 songs that were truly memorable. I don't mean that as criticism (or praise or anything), just saying it's interesting. Of course Norah Jones first album sold huge off only one minor hit. Falling Into You won the Album of the Year grammy. Her albums are great. Her eponymous one is still my favorite (aka the "Diane Warren album", since she wrote almost everything on it). Check them out if you want to know the appeal.

All-4-One has a new collaboration on their album "Twenty" featuring Shanice and Debelah Morgan titled "Go To Bed." This could/should have a number of whistle notes!

Exactly. Look, she was un-recouped with Virgin when she left them. It was not pretty. I don't know what her later albums cost to make, but i'm sure they weren't cheap. That billionaire can take care of the RIAA certs, lol. What do you mean she was un-recouped with "Virgin". Meaning she owed them money??? Obviously she got to keep all of her advances (and it was a monumental contract back in the day), but when all was said and done, she "owed" Virgin a staggering amount.
