That was an absolute nadir point for Z100. As opposed to a high point when they played the heck out of Kelly Clarkson's "Gone" while the label was pushing them towards "Walk Away."

I was shocked when I was at a bar and saw that there was a video for this. She looks great in it. There is something very satisfying about the way Celine interpreted Diane Warren's songs.

So happy to see this song continue to chug along.
For people reminiscing about earlier Martina, seriously no love for "Where Would You Be?" Granted, it's histrionic-Martina in full blast, but I just love the way Martina throws it all down on that one. Anyway, I love all the passionate discussion!

I wish MKIA had this success but I'm happy for her anyway. It laid the foundation for single "Stronger's" success, that is for certain. A third single will push the album's sales through the roof.

^There's also the issue of how male pop stars are marketed - their fanbases tend to consist of women who are drawn to said artist's sex appeal above all else. It's hard for that to still be a draw when they discover their idol learned to dance so well by voguing in the mirror - the fantasy is shattered. You would think so, but I've heard a lot of straight women say that they still find Adam Lambert very sexy, despite being totally aware of Adam's sexual preference. Straight women find Adam hella sexy. I hear it all the time. It's the way he carries himself, the rockstar quality, the hint of danger, it's sexy regardless of who he goes to bed with. It's great that some people don't let an artist's sexual orientation define the way they enjoy them.

Celebration is my favorite. It's a throwback to her 80's days, so I can see why many of you guys don't love it.
American Life and 4 Minutes are the worst. I think 4 Minutes deserves more of a spanking because it reeked of desperation. About as much as her duet with Britney, but at least that song was decent.

Keep You With Me should be the next single. It's pure pop goodness.

I really hear Nicola Roberts' underrated "Beat of my Drum" when listening to this track, and I think that's a good thing!

I agree with the Chicane comparison above, but even moreso, I think the production and vocals are very Seal reminiscent. The verses sound very much like Prayer for the Dying and the chorus reminds me of his "Your Vision" song, or whatever.
Can't wait to hear more of this.

Overall the performance was well put together and well thought out. Madonna looked great and the songs she selected to perform were spot on. In particular I loved the lead in to "Like a Prayer." The stadium looked beautiful. I do think it was obvious that Madonna wasn't moving a whole lot. She was mostly standing there singing while all the people around her were doing the movement. She didn't actually start to really dance until LMFAO joined her onstage. Also, the whole M.I.A. thing. Who cares? Do Americans really have nothing better to get all uptight about? I'm seeing how M.I.A. was "vulgar" all over the news. Why is it even news? Who cares? It's a little finger, big deal. because you don't have kids. I don't want my kids watching the biggest sporting event in the world, and have to watch a nipple or a bitter english rapper giving the middle finger. it's unnecessary. what did she get out of flipping us off. makes no sense to me and I thought it was ridiculously dumb. She wanted people to talk about her. She knew it was the biggest exposure she'd ever have and took full advantage of it and got the media talking about an artist that they knew nothing about. I don't agree with it but I can see why she did it.

I heart this ballad. It has a timeless feel and the vocals are, of course, stunning. It's one of Mariah's most forgotten hits though, both by Mariah herself and her fanbase. Nicely said. I wish AC stations would cool it a bit on Hero and Always Be My Baby (sorry), and spin this, I Don't Wanna Cry, Can't Let Go etc...but I know that they don't touch those anymore.

Britt Nicole is one of my favorite artists. I absolutely adore both of her albums including her acoustic sessions EP. Fantastic songs and great voice.
I hope this new track goes right to #1. She deserves so much success.

The other debut is from Rihanna, the act that most AC stations aren't ready to fully commit to. "W Found Love" debuts at #29 this week. This is Rihanna's 4th AC hit. Her last hit was "Only Girl In the World" which peaked at #17 last May. Hot Chelle Rae goes recurrent this week. The only song to benefit a new peak position this week as a result is "Without You." Meanwhile AC favorite Gloria Estefan is stuck at #26 for the 3rd week in a row. I was surprised that Rihanna's label didn't push California King Bed to AC during that era. I always assumed it was because they weren't interested in courting that audience for her, but it seemed like such a no brainer at the time. Hot Chelle Rae have a few songs on their album that would be nice AC hits assuming that the label passes on sending I Like it Like That to AC. I would love to see the AC get a chance to work a different song. I've said it before but Gloria's stagnancy with this track is proof enough that AC is not feeling her new material. I think they're playing it out of loyalty because of her phenomenal back-catalog, but she's capable of SO much better.

I'll add Sarah Brightman's DVD's to this list, but specifically her Live in Las Vegas is stunning.

Jennifer was appearing after a terrible tragedy in her life. There was an unbelievable emotional resonance with that performance. It was a triumph.

I'm sure the Kelly stans on this board know the answer, but Kelly has done the national anthem televised before right? Didn't she do it for a World Series game at some point? I have a recording of her singing it very differently and I totally preferred her earlier rendition, although last night was very good.

Donna Summer- Live and More Encore. She's not at her peak but still sounds Amazing. A few treats for the fans including the not released songs on it. Worth it alone for the Tina Arena duet on "Enough is Enough."

I've said from the beginning that Hair should AT LEAST be a Club Only single and it looks like, from the slew of bootleg mixes that have surfaced for this track over the past week, that others agree.
I hope that Interscope commissions some serious remixes and gets her a #1 on the dance chart where this song belongs.

I bought the German maxi single for the artwork, and ended up using one of the mixes for an answering machine recording outgoing message. Random!

So pumped for tomorrow night. I realize every tour stop should be as special as the last (and the next), but come on..this is RADIO CITY. I hope she has a surprise or two...or at least picks an insanely awesome fan request...make me cry, Kelly Clarkson! I will see you there! BTW, who is opening for Kelly. Anyone know?

The song is also not exactly a "Coming Out of the Dark" ballad either. Yeah, no disrespect to Gloria, because I paid a fortune to see her final performance at MSG during her Unwrapped tour, but the label is pushing an unmemorable ballad from an album that has pretty much vanished already. The fact that it's charting at all shows that AC IS supportive of her.
